When you hear the word, “Power”, what do you think?

What do you feel?

Do you ever give up your power to be liked? To be accepted?

Recently, I had the opportunity to consult with a Fortune 500 company and when they asked for a lower price, I froze. My brain just turned off. I didn't even try to negotiate. I just gave up my power.

Do you ever give up your power? Maybe with your boss or mom or husband?

I see a lot of women (and men) give up their power to be liked or accepted. Maybe you're super powerful at work, but then completely lose your power in dating. Or you're super powerful at the gym, but then don't stand up for yourself to a bullish colleague or boss.

After I hung up with that company, I decided then and there to reclaim my power. I asked myself these questions:

*What does power mean?

*To whom have I given my power away? Why?

*What would it look like to stand in my power fully in integrity?

If you aren't standing in your power confidently, then underneath is fear. Fear of not being liked or loved or accepted. I realized in journaling that I have a love/hate relationship with the word, power. So many people abuse power that it can be ugly. I realized that I have struggled with the middle ground between being flexible (walked over) and being strong (bitchy).

The truth is that we haven't been taught a middle ground. We've been told to “be nice” and we've seen too many examples in society where strong women are called nasty. We ourselves have held it all in until we blow up in rage.

So I made a commitment to walk the middle: Integrity, Truth, Confidence. Feminine Power is embracing and offering your WHOLE self. It's internal beauty, visionary creativity, fierce strength and deep heart wisdom combined.

Standing in my whole power, I showed up completely differently on my next call with this Fortune 500 client and won the CEO over immediately. Even though we had agreed on the lower price for the first engagement, I already pitched follow up work and he loved the ideas!

So, how could your life change if you stand in your power? Would you negotiate a bigger salary? Finally open the business you've wanted? Write the book? Start dating? Ask for the promotion? Tell your husband your true needs?

Power is internal confidence. It's knowing that you're worthy not because of how you look or what you do, but because of who you are.

An interesting question and one that I deal with every day with each healing I do, standing in your power is standing in your essence, the natural you, your truth… So I hear you saying how do I do that? And who is the natural me? Standing in your power is surrendering and letting your soul ray shine, being fully connected to source and walking this earth in the integrity of you with love and compassion for self and others.

In other words be the most important person to you, treat yourself with love, respect and integrity above and beyond anybody else. This is not coming from a place of being selfish on the contrary, how can you help, heal, love and friend another if you don’t know how to do those things to yourself…

Are you not worthy of breath or is their some reason you have to take less breath than the person next to you… Why do you feel that your words and wisdom are not valid or should not be heard? Why do we die with wisdom inside us, are we to busy to take the time to listen to another? If we are to busy, aren’t they going to feel that! Your mirror is then that people are too busy to listen to you…

If you step back from the rumbling of noise that comes out of your mouth everyday, as you are only responsible for you! And stop for a moment to gather your thoughts from a place that is connected to you, do you really need to say all those words or are you just saying them to control, feel safe, feel comfortable, or fill the gap… Once you have stopped feel into your truth, the things you really want to say, but are afraid of saying, think of the people you want to say them to, go deep, go back, look at the story associated with what you want to say… then ask yourself is it going to serve me or them by saying this or should I just let it go…If you decide to let it go, really do let it go…If it comes back 3 times then you need to say it to them, just to clear yourself of it, write it in a letter if it is to hard to speak.

As we are now in the present and the past is gone and the future is not here yet, can you make a vow that you will speak your truth, be you in front of people and not stand in your archetype or personality? Can you let go of your wall and trust that people will like you just the way you are? I feel very comfortable saying that when you stand in your power and speak your truth, people will listen, because you are speaking from your heart with integrity… In fact they will listen so much, because it is refreshing and so lovely to hear someone speak in their truth, people are getting so connected now to their intuition that they can see through the layers and the noise to see the real you, so why not just be it and show it.

What are you really worth? What do you deserve? Be the prize, don’t settle for less from anyone, that is the example you set for your children, your relationships, your work…everything.. Result is unconditional love!

You are completely in your power when you are accepting and loving of you! Just the way you are, and letting go of all the stories. This in turn is what you will attract…

Sounds easy Yes?

Life is about balance and harmony, understanding the matrix, yourself, your archetypes and you (source energy) from there we lead to, connection to other dimensions and opening of portals…

The most important thing about standing in your power, your truth… is the love of you and your body (your vessel or vehicle for your journey on this planet). The healthier your body is the longer you get to explore, awaken, experience and discover the magic that is life on mother earth.

At this Full Moon, we leave Leo of the Fire element behind, we, a little crispy around the edges after the eclipse season amid multiple retrogrades, enter the very welcome Earth element, Virgo. Virgo, ruled by Mercury, is the mental earth sign, so mental and practical. A gold mine time of year bringing us back to basics as we prepare for the coming Equinox. Virgo helps us take stock of our resources and get us organized and consolidated in our day-to-day lives. We can focus on our health regimes and catch up on the tasks we long to complete. Maintenance happens. We are able to discriminate what to let go of and what to keep. Balance with Earth gives the feeling of security, safety. Your body brings you joy and you care for it with gratitude along with your home and surrounds.

We are blessed with a Grand Trine involving all the Earth signs with the Sun (Virgo), Uranus (Taurus) and Saturn (Capricorn). Energy shines on ‘out with the old, in with the new’. Over 35,000 cat lovers from around the globe have submitted applications in the hope of becoming the lucky person who will be hired to take care of 55 cats on a property on Syros island.

Not only will the successful applicant have the joy of being with so many cats, they will also get paid for it and be able to stay in a fully paid for modern little home with an amazing view of the Aegean Sea.

ABC News has reported that Joan and Richard Bowell of God’s Little People Cat Rescue who placed the ad, have been flooded with over 35,000 applications since the job post went viral.

“When we put up the advert, we expected about maybe 20-30 applicants — we were utterly overwhelmed to get to more than [35,000],” Joan and Richard Bowell of God’s Little People Cat Rescue told ABC News.

“It all said one thing to us – there are so many people out there who really love cats and want them to have a proper life.”

The job, which includes free accommodations in a house on the island property with water and electricity, went viral shortly afterward. The sanctuary founders said they received many follow-up inquires asking: “Is this for real? A job, paid, with a house and car to look after cats?”

The job starts in November and the sanctuary will keep the application open through to the end of August, so if it sounds like your dream job, get your resume over asap!

A jury has ordered Monsanto Co. to pay $289.2 million in a landmark lawsuit over whether exposure to two of its powerful weed killers caused cancer.

The jury verdict, in San Francisco Superior Court, is the latest setback for Monsanto, now part of Bayer AG BAYRY-11.3% , as its flagship weed killer Roundup comes under increased scrutiny following the 2015 determination from the World Health Organization that glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup herbicides, is probably carcinogenic.

On Friday, in the first of thousands of lawsuits to go to trial, the jury unanimously found that the company’s Ranger Pro and Roundup products presented a “substantial danger” to consumers, and that Monsanto knew or should have known of potential risks and failed to warn consumers like Dewayne “Lee” Johnson.

Johnson had worked as a groundskeeper for the Benicia Unified School District in the San Francisco Bay-area and was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

The jury awarded him $39.2 million in compensatory damages and $250 million in punitive damages.

Monsanto said it would appeal. Punitive damages, especially those many times higher than the compensatory awards, are often reduced by the trial judge or reversed on appeal.

The Institute for Responsible Technology published on August 13, 2018: Monsanto LOSES Trial of the century! Fined $250 Million in punitive damages. Will have to pay $289 million. Thousands of plaintiffs are waiting in the wings.

The jury’s verdict found not only that Monsanto’s Roundup and related glyphosate-based brands presented a substantial danger to people using them, but that there was “clear and convincing evidence” that Monsanto’s officials acted with “malice or oppression” in failing to adequately warn of the risks.

Monsanto Co. was socked with $289 million in damages in the first trial over claims that its Roundup weed killer causes cancer.

Lee Johnson, a former school groundskeeper whose doctors didn’t think he’d live long enough learn the verdict, prevailed Friday in San Francisco state court after jurors deliberated for three days. The trial was an important test of the evidence against Monsanto and will serve as a template for litigating thousands of other claims over the herbicide.

Johnson was seeking $412 million in damages. Jurors awarded him $39 million for his losses and $250 million to punish the company after finding it liable for a design defect and failing to warn of Roundup’s risks. Monsanto said it will appeal.

“Today’s decision does not change the fact that more than 800 scientific studies and reviews -- and conclusions by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. National Institutes of Health and regulatory authorities around the world -- support the fact that glyphosate does not cause cancer, and did not cause Mr. Johnson’s cancer,” Monsanto Vice President Scott Partridge said in a statement.

Germany’s Bayer AG closed a deal to buy Monsanto for $66 billion in June. If the litigation generates large verdicts against Monsanto, it could have a material impact on Bayer’s bottom line, said Chris Perrella, an analyst for Bloomberg Intelligence. Since Roundup is ubiquitous in modern farming, there’s a “huge potential liability,” though it’s very uncertain it will materialize, he said. Bayer investors might not be aware of the risks because many analysts covering the company focus on pharmaceuticals, Perrella said.

Glyphosate, the main ingredient in Roundup, was first approved for use in Monsanto’s weed killer in 1974. While becoming the world’s most popular and widely used herbicide, the question of whether it causes cancer has been hotly debated by environmentalists, regulators, researchers and lawyers -- even as Monsanto has insisted for decades that it’s perfectly safe.

Working for a school district in Benicia, California, about 40 miles east of San Francisco, Johnson mixed and sprayed hundreds of gallons of Roundup. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2014, and in July 2017, after chemotherapy and other treatments, his oncologist gave him six months to live.

Johnson’s lawyers, relying on his testimony and expert witnesses, argued that his exposure, including accidents that got him soaked from head to toe in Roundup, caused his non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Monsanto scientists knew of the cancer risk posed by Roundup as far back as the 1970s, but failed to inform the public and instead engaged in a "deliberate effort to distort the truth” as the weed killer generated hefty returns, Johnson’s lawyer, Brent Wisner, told the jury in closing arguments Tuesday.

“Despite the Environmental Protection Agency’s failure to require labeling, we are proud that an independent jury followed the evidence and used its voice to send a message to Monsanto that its years of deception regarding Roundup is over and that they should put consumer safety first over profits,” Wisner said in a statement after the verdict.

Monsanto argued that the type of cancer contracted by Johnson takes many years to form. The short period between Johnson’s first exposure in 2012 and his diagnosis in 2014 made any connection between his contact and the disease impossible, according to the company.

Monsanto lawyer George Lombardi insisted that science has found no connection between Roundup and non-Hodgkin lymphoma. In fact, Lombardi told the jury, no one has yet figured out what causes the disease.

“We don’t know why people get mycosis fungoides,” he said, using the name of the specific form of cancer Johnson has. "It would be nice if we could tell people why they get it, but we can’t.”

The case is Dewayne Johnson v. Monsanto Co., CGC-16-550128, California Superior Court, County of San Francisco (San Francisco).

It's time for the most significant Pokémon tournament of the year: the Pokémon World Championships! Trainers are competing for a combined prize pool worth more than $500,000 and to prove that they're the real-life Champions of their game. You can watch matches from every round of the 2018 World Championships, streamed live from Nashville, Tennessee, on Twitch. Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon and Pokémon Trading Card Game matches will be live all day Friday, August 24, and Saturday, August 25, with the final matches taking place Sunday, August 26. Pokkén Tournament DX matches will start Friday and continue through Saturday, with the final matches taking place Saturday afternoon. Check out the full schedule.

The Pokémon TCG World Championships are sure to be particularly unpredictable this year due to the introduction of Sun & Moon—Celestial Storm and the surprising results of the recent North America International Championships in Columbus, Ohio. Many players expected that decks featuring Buzzwole-GX would be heavy favorites at that event, but instead of playing Buzzwole-GX themselves, many people chose decks designed to defeat it, often built around Malamar. Stéphane Ivanoff won the event using a Zoroark-GX deck, which is weak against Fighting but strong against many of the anti-Buzzwole decks. Deck selection will be even more paramount in Nashville, with another powerful new contender entering the fray—speedy decks featuring Rayquaza-GX.

The story to watch in the Video Game Championships will be whether players have surprises up their sleeves. The top teams from the North America International Championships were largely stable, flexible teams, and it seemed as if a Landorus or an Incineroar was using U-turn from behind every corner in Columbus. But almost all the top-performing teams were reminiscent of teams we'd seen perform well at events earlier in the season. Players often save their best surprises for the most important tournament of the year, so keep an eye out for rogue strategies after all this time for plotting against similar combinations of Pokémon.

Nashville will also host the third Pokkén Tournament World Championships, and this year's competition is the first Worlds event to feature Pokkén Tournament DX. The fast-paced, action-packed matches are always a joy to watch, and the World Championships are sure to be especially unpredictable. Almost every player who qualified via the North America International Championships specializes in a different Battle Pokémon, and some new strategies may be seen at Worlds. A hefty gameplay balance update has greatly impacted the game since the last International Championships, so aspiring World Champions will have to show how well they can adapt. The United Kingdom’s surge of the previously unheard of phenomenon of acid attacks has seen an average of 15 a week over the past three years, with the vast majority taking place in the crime-struck capital, London.

There were 2,602 acid attacks in Britain between January 2015 and May 2018, the equivalent of 15 a week, according to government figures accessed by The Mirror newspaper.

Comparing that figure — which will almost certainly be higher on average for 2018 crimes given the apparent surge in acid attacks in the past year — the newspaper notes between 2007 and 2011 there were just 100 such attacks, or just one a fortnight over the period.

Of the attacks, the majority took place in London — 73 per cent — despite just 12 per cent of people in the United Kingdom living in the capital.

The paper also reports instances of particular attacks that have taken place in recent years, some of which child victims and even child perpetrators — one as young as six years old.

Breitbart London has reported on the rising prominence of acid attacks in the United Kingdom and in London in particular, with the city being crowned the world acid attack capital in 2017, with incidents reaching “epidemic” levels, according to medics working on acid victim care.

While the attacks are often severely debilitating and leave victims with what are euphemistically called “life-changing injuries”, Britain saw its first prosecution for an acid attack killing in 2018.

Xeneral Webster, 19, was sentenced to 17 years in prison after he chucked a bottle of high strength acid over a nurse during a botched robbery. The victim, who had just come from the grave of her daughter, died 11 days later.

In another attack which saw particularly strong media attention, a three-year-old boy was splashed with acid during a “deliberate” attack which police attributed to “community violence”. The extent to which the boy’s injuries will impact him in the long run is not yet known. Five were subsequently arrested, with the case soon going to court.

SHOCKING new data shows that the UK has seen over 2,000 acid attacks in less than three years, with the majority of cases in London and police officers amongst the victims.

The data, which was collected by The Mirror newspaper, comes from 30 UK police forces.

Within their jurisdictions 2,006 acid attacks were recorded between January 2016 and May 2018.

Victims included four police officers in West Yorkshire, whilst one attack recorded by Devon and Cornwall Police in 2016 also saw the victim raped.

A significant majority of attacks took place in London.

Within London, Newham borough in the east recorded the most attacks, with a total of 273.

Of the incidents which have taken place in London so far this year, 63 percent were accompanied by another violent crime such as sexual assault or burglary.

The average age of victims in London was 30, whilst the average age of suspects was 24-25.

According to the Acid Survivors Trust International (ASTI) the UK has per capita one of the highest rates of acid attack in the world.

The number of attacks has been increasing rapidly, with 228 recorded incidents in 2012 but 601 in 2016.

There is speculation that gangs are turning to acid over knives or guns as possession is so hard to monitor.

Dr Simon Harding of Middlesex University told The Sun: “Acid was once a weapon of last resort but may now be the first.

“It’s used by gangs, if a business deal goes wrong or someone owes money. People can have a legitimate reason for having acid.”

In response 1,000 acid crime response kits have been distributed to London police.

Former Home Secretary Amber Rudd also announced plans to make it illegal to sell corrosive substances to children.

Late last month a three year old boy was seriously injured by an acid attack in Worcester.

Five men have been charged with committing grievous bodily harm over the incident.

A paedophile with a twisted interest in babies and toddlers has been jailed after being found with more than 630,000 child abuse images.

Mark Ferguson, 56, appeared respectable and was married with children and the partner in an electronics company.

But a court heard how Ferguson used the online moniker Odeap, paedo backwards, and made contact with a serial child rapist in South America, who he encouraged to send him videos.

He has now been jailed at Newcastle Crown Court for possessing and distributing indecent images of children.

Sending him to prison for 45 months, Recorder Jo Kidd told him: ‘Your particular interest seems to be very little girls and by little girls it seems there’s a pattern of a specific interest in toddlers and babies. It’s difficult to imagine more disgusting images.’

The court heard how Ferguson used the website Gigatribe to share and receive images with fellow paedophiles all around the globe.

The judge told him: ‘You possessed then distributed a phenomenal amount of indecent images of children, including the most depraved and disgusting possible.’

The man Ferguson was communicating with in South America has also since been jailed for 23 years for attacking young family members.

Recorder Kidd said: ‘You denied in the pre-sentence report that you were motivated by a sexual interest in children. However the name you used was paedo backwards.

‘Mr Ferguson, you are a paedophile.’

Ferguson, of Baulkham Hills, Houghton-le-Spring, had no previous convictions but caught the interest of the National Crime Agency in January when he shared 213 images online in six minutes.

In February, officers searched his house and found more than 630,000 indecent images.

Given the vast amount, they could not all be analysed individually but a sample revealed an even split between the three categories of seriousness.

Prosecutor Kevin Wardlaw said Ferguson had classified and categorised the material as well as classifying other Gigatribe users, depending on how much he trusted them.

Mr Wardlaw said: ‘The Crown say in terms of collection and distribution this was calculated, organised and systematic and over an extremely long period of time.

‘It was worldwide distribution with thousands of recipients.’

Ferguson pleaded guilty to three offences of making indecent images and three of distributing them. As well as jail time, he must sign the sex offenders’ register indefinitely and was made subject to a sexual harm prevention order.

Vic Laffey, defending, said he had expressed ‘shame’ and ‘accepts his behaviour, to use his word, was repugnant’.

ATLANTA – Ten members of an alleged methamphetamine trafficking operation that sought to distribute more than $1 million worth of drugs have been indicted in a 13-count superseding indictment on charges of violations of federal drug, firearm, and immigration laws. Seven defendants were arraigned today in federal court.

“Methamphetamine remains a major threat to our community and it continues to be the main illegally-trafficked drug in this district,” said U.S. Attorney Byung J. “BJay” Pak. “When people enter our country illegally and traffic meth while in possession of guns, they not only spread their poison, they drive violence in our communities.”

“Methamphetamine continues to ravage many communities in our nation,” said Robert J. Murphy, the Special Agent in Charge of the DEA Atlanta Field Division. “Because of the positive results yielded in this case, other methamphetamine traffickers (particularly conversion lab operators) in the Atlanta metropolitan and surrounding areas are being put on notice that DEA, its law enforcement partners and the U.S. Attorney’s Office will not tolerate their continued efforts to manufacture and distribute this insidious drug.”

According to U.S. Attorney Pak, the indictment, and other information presented in court: Beginning in July 2017, agents with the DEA and the Atlanta-Carolina High Intensity Drug Trafficking Program (“HIDTA”) began investigating defendant Hugo Solano-Garcia a/k/a Gordo, and his associates in the Atlanta area, for trafficking methamphetamine allegedly smuggled into the U.S. from Mexico.

Over the course of the investigation, federal and local law enforcement agents uncovered a series of stash houses and methamphetamine conversion laboratories in two metro-Atlanta counties, DeKalb and Gwinnett, where the defendants would allegedly convert liquid methamphetamine into crystal methamphetamine for distribution, sometimes hiding the illicit drugs in hollowed-out fire extinguishers and car batteries. The defendants barricaded some of these conversion laboratories and guarded them with guns.

Agents raided one conversion laboratory in an apartment in Brookhaven, Georgia on January 30, 2018. In that apartment, they found approximately 65 kilograms of methamphetamine in crystal and liquid form and three firearms.

In total, law enforcement has seized more than 130 kilograms of methamphetamine over the course of this investigation. The drug trafficking conspiracy charge in the indictment names the following 10 defendants:

• Hugo Solano-Garcia, a/k/a Gordo, also charged with possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime;
• Victor Pacheco-Solano, a/k/a Pelon, a/k/a Moro;
• Gerardo Calderon-Pacheco, a/k/a Plebe;
• Valentin Solano-Salas, also charged with possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime;
• Juan Confesor Camilo, a/k/a Jean Carlos Camilo, a/k/a Tigre;
• Aldrin Barajas-Ramirez, also charged with possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, illegal alien in possession of a firearm, and illegal re-entry after being deported;
• Miguel Pacheco-Penaloza, also charged with possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime and illegal alien in possession of a firearm;
• Octavio Pacheco-Torres, a/k/a Burro, also charged with possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime;
• Sair Calderon-Pacheco; and
• Joaquin Reyes-Guillen, a/k/a Aviel Cabrera-Hernandez.

The indictment was returned on March 28, 2018. Solano-Garcia, Gerardo Calderon-Pacheco, Solano-Salas, Camilo, Barajas-Ramirez, Pacheco-Penaloza, and Pacheco-Torres were arraigned on April 6, 2018. Pacheco-Solano, Calderon-Pacheco, and Reyes-Guillen have yet to be arraigned.

Members of the public are reminded that the indictment only contains charges. The defendants are presumed innocent of the charges and it will be the government’s burden to prove the defendants’ guilt beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.

This case is being investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Atlanta-Carolina High Intensity Drug Trafficking Program, and the following agencies: U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, U.S. Department of State, DeKalb County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Unit, Georgia State Patrol, Gwinnett County Police Department, and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department.

More than 20 people federally indicted after Southwest GA drug bust

BAINBRIDGE, GA - More than 20 people are behind bars on federal drug charges after a major drug roundup in South Georgia.

According to Bainbridge Public Safety (BPS), multiple South Georgia law enforcement agencies helped with the drug bust.

All suspects are facing federal indictments for getting and selling controlled substances in Southwest Georgia and North Florida. BPS said those arrested lived in Bainbridge, Cairo, Thomasville and Tallahassee, Florida. The drug bust was the culmination of an 18-month long investigation.

According to Bainbridge Public Safety Deputy Director Frank Green, the investigation was successful because of the long hours put in by CPD, BPS, TCDU, DEA as well as the assistance provided by District Attorney Joe Mulholland and Assistant District Attorney Christopher Quinn of the South Georgia Judicial Circuit. - BPS

The investigation revolved around the sale and distribution of cocaine, crack cocaine, Mollie or MDMA and "Flakka" or Alpha-PVP and N-Ethylpentylone.

Based on the results of the investigation, investigators obtained federal indictments for over twenty individuals suspected of obtaining and selling controlled substances in Southwest Georgia and North Florida. Individuals arrested lived in the area of Bainbridge, Cairo, Thomasville, and Tallahassee. More indictments and arrests are expected to come in the near future. - BPS

Law enforcement is expecting more arrests.

Agencies involved with the roundup included Bainbridge Public Safety Criminal Investigation Unit, Cairo Police Department, Thomasville/Thomas County Narcotics/Vice Division, U.S. Marshal's Office and the Grady County Sheriff's Office.

BPS said that those arrested were taken to a U.S. courthouse in Albany where the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Georgia will handle their prosecution, with the exception of two Florida suspects. They were taken into federal custody in North Florida and are being prosecuted by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in Tallahassee.

Paramedics were forced to permanently station themselves at the New Haven Green, a historic park that borders Yale University, on Wednesday as the number of people falling unconscious or vomiting increased. At the height of the situation, emergency crews were sprinting across the 16-acre park from victim to victim. A total of 71 people were rushed to various hospitals suffering from apparent overdoses. Another five people refused medical treatment.

As many as 76 people overdosed on what’s believed to have been synthetic marijuana at or near a Connecticut city park as fellow parkgoers watched in horror.

Officials said most of the overdoses happened on the New Haven Green throughout the day on Wednesday.

“We have a guy laid out in the alleyway, unresponsive, eyes wide open. He’s out cold,” an unidentified bystander shouted, according to the New Haven Register.

Lt. Ernest Jones, an emergency medical technician for the New Haven Fire Department, told the Register he’s had his job for five years, and never had such an abnormal day at work.

“This was a particularly odd, rare occasion where (there was) call after call for man down, obviously with symptoms of some kind of overdose, and at the time of getting that patient packaged and transported to the hospital, we’d see another immediately fall down, right there,” Jones said. “At that point, we’d go help that patient, and while helping that patient, another person went down. So it became a domino effect.”

No deaths were reported, but authorities said two people showed life-threatening symptoms.

CBS News reported the victims, covering a range of ages, experienced “a multitude of signs and symptoms ranging from vomiting, hallucinating, high blood pressure, shallow breathing, semi-conscious and unconscious states,” said Rick Fontana, director of the city’s Office of Emergency Operations.

Naloxone, an antidote for narcotic overdoses, was administered to some victims but didn’t appear to be effective.

“Do not come down to the Green and purchase this K2,” city Police Chief Anthony Campbell said. “It is taking people out very quickly, people having respiratory failure. Don’t put your life in harm.”

The Green, which attracts homeless people and drug users throughout the year, as The New York Post reported, is located in downtown New Haven to the south and west of the Ivy League Yale University.

On average, two people die of a drug overdose every day in Connecticut. The state has surpassed the national death rate for drug and opioid overdoses since 2013.

“People are self-medicating for several different reasons and every agency — police, fire, medical, hospitals — all are strained at this time. This is a problem that’s not going away,” New Haven Fire Chief John Alston Jr. said, according to WVIT.

Police said they arrested 37-year-old Felix Melendez, who was out on parole prior to his arrest, according to the Register; he’s believed to be connected to at least some of the overdoses in the park.

Synthetic marijuana, which generally is plant material sprayed with chemicals that mimic the high from real marijuana, has been blamed for overdoses across the country.

Authorities suspect synthetic cannabinoids, known as K2, were laced with other substances in the New Haven cases, ABC News reported.

K2 can result in seizures, psychosis and even death.

Officials were testing the blood of the victims to see exactly what they ingested.

The overdoses follow a similar outbreak at the same park on July 4, when more than a dozen people were treated.

Man indicted on murder charges after 3 women’s bodies found at his home

A Massachusetts man suspected of killing three women whose remains were found at his Springfield home was indicted on multiple charges by a grand jury Thursday — including first-degree murder, aggravated rape, and aggravated kidnapping.

The 52-count indictment against Stewart Weldon, 41, included three counts of first-degree murder, nine counts of aggravated rape, eight counts of strangulation, two counts of rape, five counts of aggravated kidnapping, four counts of kidnapping and two counts of assault with intent to rape.

According to the Boston Herald, Weldon was arrested on May 27 by Springfield police after he was pulled over for a broken taillight. A woman in the vehicle told police that Weldon had held her captive for the previous month, repeatedly raping and beating her.

“Thank you, guys, for saving my life,” the woman reportedly told police as she was taken to an ambulance. “I didn’t ever think I was going to get away.”

Police said the woman suffered “grotesque and violent” injuries, including a possible fractured jaw, stab wounds to her abdomen, marks from being hit with a blunt object and a leg infection.

When police went to Weldon’s home, they found the bodies of three women “in and around” the property, according to Hampden County District Attorney Anthony Gulluni. They have since been identified as 47-year-old Ernestine Ryans and 34-year-old America Lyden, both of Springfield, and 27-year-old Kayla Escalante of Ludlow, Mass.

In addition to the three women, the indictment covers alleged crimes committed by Weldon against eight other people. At the time of his arrest, Weldon was wanted on a warrant for assault and battery of a police officer and numerous traffic violations.
