FERGUSON, Mo. - A new investigation is officially underway after a man was shot and killed in his home.

Officials currently believe that there is a connection between the man's murder and the rape of a teenage girl. It's believed that the man was murdered after refusing to accept a bribe to stay quiet.

Kcoree Warren was shot and killed on July 8 at his home on Bayview Drive. Before his murder, Warren had recently reported to police that his 15-year-old relative was raped by a man named Lavor Harmon. This led to Harmon being charged with rape and sodomy.

Following the report, Harmon's sister went to Warren's home to bribe him with $12,000. She said he would be given this money if he stayed silent and dropped the charges against her brother. According to court documents, Warren refused to accept the bribe, and just about a month later, he was shot and killed by an unidentified man.

Then, that unidentified man was found murdered in St. Louis later that day with his car burned nearby. Lavonda Harmon, the rape suspect's sister, was charged with tampering with a witness in a felony prosecution.

Multiple agencies were involved in investigating these cases, which has now connected the murder of Warren to the Harmon family. Lavor Harmon's attorney said they have not seen any evidence connecting the family to Warren's murder and will not be providing any statements at this time.

Harmon did appear in court on Tuesday, with the judge increasing his bond to $2 million, saying he was both a danger to the community and the victim.
