FOX 2 Detroit published April 6, 2025: Pastor pleads guilty to sex crimes. Hilary Golston and Dave Spencer host.
This is the only news reporting I could find for this crime. If Fox2 Detroit had not included that little 30 blip in this 13 minute news reporting, I would not have known about it. I was  led to this video looking for more information about the 3 bodies found charred in a burned car. The Oakland Press detailed article below is the most recent news report I could find in print that was not behind a paywall. (emphasis mine)

The attorney for a prominent Wayne County pastor accused of raping a minor in Farmington Hills has proposed a plea deal to settle the case, officials said.

Rev. Kenneth Flowers, 63, pastor of Greater New Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit, is charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct against a teen boy on Dec. 20, 2023, as well as kidnapping him. The crimes are more serious than the ones he initially had been charged with — third-degree criminal sexual conduct and assault with intent to commit sexual penetration; his warrant was amended in late October.

Flowers waived his right to a preliminary exam in district court.

A pretrial hearing scheduled for Jan. 9 was moved to Jan. 30, and his court file states that a plea/settlement is being worked on. According to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office, Flowers’ attorney recently offered a plea settlement but as of Jan. 10 it had not been reviewed nor presented to the victim.

Flowers is out of custody on a $25,000 personal bond, which means he wasn’t required to post any cash or surety to stay out of jail for now.

Flowers has been pastor at Greater New Mount Moriah since July 1995. According to the church’s website, Flowers claims to be a “social activist” with close ties to Congresswoman Maxine Waters and Rev. Jesse Jackson. He moved to California in the 1980s where he headed a ministry at UCLA, and served as pastor and minister in the Los Angeles area for several years before returning to Michigan.
