Activating Your Passover Promises

God has given us wonderful promises for our deliverance, healing, provision, and blessing. But almost every promise in His Word is conditional. God says, “If you do this … I’ll do that.” That’s why many believers end up disappointed and disillusioned when they don’t see the fulfillment of the Lord’s promises and blessings in their life. They’re waiting for Him to fulfill His promises, while He’s waiting for them to obey an instruction He’s given them.

Leading up to the Feast of Passover, God promised His children: “I will bring you out… I will rescue you… I will redeem you” (Exodus 6:5-6). But the story didn’t end there. The Lord gave His people detailed instructions for how they would gain freedom from their slavery.

Right from the onset, God made it clear that this was to be a time of new beginnings: “This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you” (Exodus 12:1-2). Notice that when God spoke these words, the Israelites were still living as slaves in the land of Egypt. They clearly needed a new beginning—and perhaps you do as well. But the odds certainly seemed to be against them.

During the first Passover feast, the blood of the lamb was sprinkled on the doorposts of the Israelites’ homes, and this blood protected them from the death angel that struck the Egyptians. God gave His people a powerful promise, which can still transform your life today through the blood of Jesus:
The whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill [the Passover lamb] at twilight. And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it…

For I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the Lord…And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt
(Exodus 12:6-7, 12-13).
Do you see the supernatural protection you have when you apply the blood of Jesus to the doorposts of your heart…your mind…your body…your family…your finances…and every other aspect of your life?
  • When the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy…
  • When the devil comes as a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour…
  • When demons of sickness, poverty, lust, addiction, fear, or depression look for someone to prey upon…
They will have to go past you and find someone else to attack!

Power in the Blood

Although preaching on “the power of the blood” isn’t very fashionable these days, the Bible says “without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness” (Hebrews 9:22 NIV). This theme has been described as a “scarlet thread” that extends throughout the entire Bible, from Genesis to Revelation.

It’s interesting that Rahab the harlot was saved by tying a “cord of scarlet thread” to the window of her house (Joshua 2:17-21 NASB). While everyone else in Jericho was killed in battle, she and her family were kept safe by the scarlet cord! Similar to the Passover blood on a family’s doorposts, this cord represents the protection you have from evil because of the blood of our Passover lamb, Jesus.

Rahab’s salvation wasn’t based on her own virtue or righteousness—she was a prostitute. Yet by following an instruction, she became part of the lineage of Jesus! Her only hope for safety was following the instruction to tie a scarlet cord to her window for the Israelites to see.

The scarlet thread and the blood of the Passover lamb beautifully foreshadow what Jesus did for us on the cross. Through His incredible mercy and grace, He shed His blood to purchase our salvation, protection, and favor.

Yet the cross was also a picture of God’s fierce judgment of sin. Just as Passover struck a devastating blow to the false gods of the Egyptians, the cross forever crippled Satan’s evil kingdom (Colossians 2:14-15).

You or your loved ones don’t need to remain captive to the devil’s schemes. If you need a fresh start in some area of your life, remember the example of Passover and its later fulfillment at the cross. Recognize that Jesus’ blood is more powerful than your addictions, fears, sicknesses, and insecurities.

This surefire strategy for victory over Satan’s snares is described in Revelation 12:11:
They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.
Of course, the blood referred to here as “the blood of the Lamb” is the blood of Jesus, “the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29). So remember: originally foreshadowed in the Feast of Passover, Jesus’ blood is a crucial weapon in your arsenal against Satan. It’s the seal of your salvation…the proof of your forgiveness…and the sign of your covenant relationship with Almighty God.
Remind the devil that you’ve been redeemed with the precious blood of Jesus—blood that covers your sins, gives you new life, brings healing to your body, and deliverance from enemy strongholds! Because of the blood, Satan can’t touch you!
So take a few minutes right now to pause and pray, making sure “the blood of the Lamb” has been applied to every area of your life. Be certain you aren’t basing your relationship with God on your own goodness but on the “scarlet cord” that testifies of Jesus’ death on your behalf.

Your Appointed Time

Friend, the amazing promises God gave His children during Passover still apply today. You can find them in Exodus 23 and Leviticus 23. Like most of God’s promises, their fulfillment is tied to following an instruction.

God says when you come before Him in worship during the Feast of Passover, don’t come empty-handed. He instructs you to bring an offering … a special offering, in addition to your tithes.

Passover is one of His “appointed times” to bless you in extraordinary ways. When you follow His instructions, He makes seven specific Covenant Promises:
  1. An angel of God will be assigned to protect you and lead you to your miracles.
  2. God will be an enemy to your enemies.
  3. The Lord will prosper you.
  4. God will take sickness away from you.
  5. You will not die before your appointed time.
  6. Increase and an inheritance will be yours.
  7. What the enemy has stolen will be returned to you.
When you honor Him during this Feast of Passover season by recognizing what Jesus did on the cross for you, by thanking Him for the sacrifice He paid for your salvation, and by coming before Him in worship with your Passover offering, you can have confidence that God will do His part and fulfill His Passover promises to you! Remember, giving was then and still is today an essential part of worship for God’s children.

It’s as simple as this…
God’s instruction: Honor Me, worship Me, and bring Me a special offering.

His Promise: Guidance, protection, prosperity, healing, longevity, increase, and restoration.
Draw near to the Lord today, my friend. Learn to use obedience to God’s instruction as a powerful weapon to defeat the enemy!

During this special season when we observe Passover and celebrate Jesus’ resurrection, He wants to set you free from anything that’s hindering you from enjoying His favor and His overflowing blessings.

God bless you,
David
