OAKLAND, NJ — An Oakland man was arrested Thursday after authorities found more than 1,800 files of child pornography at his home, authorities said.
John D. Vieldhouse, 53, was charged with possession of pornography, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced. Vieldhouse was arrested following an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
Members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Cyber Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at Vieldhouse's home in connection with an Internet child pornography investigation, the prosecutor said.
Vieldhouse used the Internet to "view, download, or possess" about 1,800 digital files showing nude or sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children, Musella said.
Vieldhouse was arrested and charged with second-degree possession of child pornography in an amount greater than 1,000 files. He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court.
