BHOPAL - A 15-year-old girl from Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh was repeatedly raped and tortured in confinement for over three months by a 40-year-old man, police sources said. The girl has now also been disowned by her family.

One Kallu kept her in Lakheri village of Ashok Nagar district, 269 km from the state capital, and singed her with cigarette butts apart from routinely raping her, they added.

The survivor managed to escape and reached neighbouring Amrod village where she sought help of villagers who took her to the police. The girl narrated her ordeal on Sunday evening.

On Monday, Ashok Nagar police approached her disabled mother and brother, who is a truck driver, but they refused to take her back home.

Singrauli superintendent of police Jaidevan A said, "They said that in the past also she eloped from home three times. Now we don't need her".

After the refusal of the kin, the police are facing trouble in getting the medical tests of the girl done in Ashok Nagar.

Investigating officer in the case and in-charge of Ashok Nagar's dehat police station, Shriram Tiwari, told TOI: "As the girl is a minor and there is no legal guardian the medical tests of the girl could not be conducted till now, because doctors have refused to do so. It can be done after getting permission from the court, which were are trying to secure."

For now police are planning to send the girl to a Nari Niketan.

Ashok Nagar superintendent of police Tarun Nayak said, "The accused has been booked under section 370 of the IPC for keeping her in captivity for the purpose of exploitation and also under relevant sections of Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act".
