Know Your Enemy: Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals

During the next several weeks I will be reading Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals and sharing my findings and observations in a series of blog posts. We now have a Presidential Administration that is completely shaped and driven by the radical community organizing ethos taught by Saul Alinsky and the socialist revolutionaries whose long term goal is to openly overturn the traditional order of society by taking power from the “Haves” and giving it to the “Have- Nots” of the world.

This goal of radical redistribution of wealth and power is the only “constant” ideology that an Alinsky trained “community disorganizer” is taught to accept. That the ultimate implementation of this redistribution on a global level would destroy each and every advanced white western country is either not understood by the the mostly white middle class disciples of Alinsky or they are so twisted that they see our destruction as desirable and justified.

Alinsky wrote his Rules for Radicals in 1971 for the specific purpose of harnessing the unfocused chaotic discontent of the 1960′s youth rebellion into a long term tool for the destruction of the current American system from the inside out. His goal was to produce a generation of “Realistic Radicals” who would worm their way into our churches, our government, our schools, our businesses, our labor unions and our media. Now almost 40 years later the Obama administration represents the successful culmination of the Alinsky process of social revolution.

Alinsky remembers the advice he gave young would be radicals in the early 1970′s, “Do one of three things. One, go find a wailing wall and feel sorry for yourselves. Two, go psycho and start bombing-but this will only swing people to the right. Three, learn a lesson. Go home, organize, build power and at the next convention, you be the delegates.” His disciples have been so effective at accomplishing this agenda of Realistic Revolution that they are now in control of almost every institution in the nation. Ironically it is now outcast and out of power conservatives who are on the outside looking in and wondering how we can possibly effect change.

If we are to have any hope of saving what is left of the American Republic from these Marxist termites we must understand their tactics and perhaps even implement them as a counter-revolutionary campaign. I say “perhaps” utilize the tactics of our socialist enemies because a good case could be made that it is impossible for a true conservative to adopt the “Rules for Radicals” as they are the antithesis of conservative thought.

Take for example the idea of “truth”. The conservative approaches truth as something that can be verified, tested and believed in and although they understand that “truth” may be flavored by a persons perspective they still believe that there is an independent truth that exist. Thus a conservative who approaches an issue, say the current manufactured lunacy that suggest America never landed on the moon will point to specific facts and provable reality. Like the fact that the Lunar Lander is sitting on the moon right where we left it and it should be viewable through the recent remote moon survey projects being conducted by a number of countries. So to a conservative for any question you should be able to establish some parameters for investigation that could be carried out and proven, one way or the other.

A “realistic radical” of the Alinsky school is completely unconcerned with the verification of “fact”. Alinsky states in respect to a community organizer, “he does not have a fixed truth-truth to him is relative and changing; everything to him is relative and changing. He is a political relativist.” Their concern would be first to determine which opinion would be the most useful to their immediate and long term agenda. That the Lunar Lander is still sitting on the moon or not is of no interest to them. What is critical is the usefulness of stating that the entire moon landing program was a lie by the government and further reason that you should not trust the status quo and to undermine your sense of national pride at having accomplished such a magnificent feat of human science and exploration. The radicals purpose would be to sow discontent, mistrust and shame for attempting to mislead the world so that they could use the moon landings as another wedge issue in the furtherance of their revolution. This willingness to arrogantly disregard verifiable truth in service of a greater revolutionary “truth” is a central aspect of Alinsky’s tactics.

It often infuriates and confuses conservatives that socialist claims and projects are so often obviously fraudulent and verifiably so and yet maddeningly treated as fact by the media, academia and other socialist organs but that is exactly the point. The revolutionary SEEKS to create an environment of unreality exactly so that by obscuration and fantasy thinking they can influence the generally ignorant population to support political goals that would otherwise be unsupportable in the face of fact.

The current exponential expansion of government “services” and entitlements is a perfect example of a fantasy agenda and the “big lie” technique at work. It is a well documented and well publicized fact that even our current entitlement programs like Medicare and Social Security are unsupportable in any future projection at current levels of services. We have known for some thirty years that the ratio of workers paying into the current entitlement programs would not support the demographic imbalance that is being created by the aging and retirement of the baby boomers. This is fact and if we can’t support existing social entitlement programs at current levels does it not follow that we simply can not afford additional socialist programs? Yet the dis-organizers have been able to fix into the minds of the masses the idea that if we make the evil rich pay that both the poor and the middle class can all magically have more government goodies without any additional tax burden. Yet it was exactly this fantasy cleverly presented and unchallenged by the media which has put the Obamination in power.

I will deal with more specific lessons from Rules for Radicals in future blog post but to start us off here is a list of 13 tactical rules:

Alinsky’s Power Tactics:

1. Power is not only what you have but what the enemy thinks you have.

2. Never go outside the experience of your people.

3. Whenever possible go outside the experience of the enemy.

4. Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules.

5. Ridicule is mans most potent weapon.

6. A good tactic is one that your people enjoy.

7. A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.

8. Keep the pressure on with different tactics and actions, and utilize all events of the period for your purpose.

9. The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.

10. The major premise of tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition.

11. If you push a negative hard and deep enough, it will break through into its counterside.

12. The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.

13. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it and polarize it.

Together we will look in greater detail at Rules for Radicals over the coming weeks. I imagine any conservative that even gives a cursory look at this list of 13 tactics will immediately connect the dots to dozens if not hundreds of events just over the last couple of years that make perfect sense when seen in the light of the radicals political philosophy. One of the biggest mistakes conservatives make in the culture war is to assume that we are all basically good Americans and that we have shared common values and perceptions. Nothing could be further from the truth and when you examine the tactical methodology of the left in detail you immediately realize that the right is playing the political game blindfolded and with one arm tied behind our backs.

In the opening page of my edition of Rules for Radicals, Alinsky playfully taunts conservatives with the this quote:

“Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgement to the very first radical: from all our legends, mythology and history (and who is to know where mythology leaves off and history begins-or which is which), the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom – Lucifer” – Saul Alinsky.

See how Alinsky masterfully uses this taunt about Lucifer, knowing that it will on one hand anger Christian believers, who believe in the reality of evil, by openly comparing his “progressive” revolutionary goal to that of Lucifer, “the light bringer” while at another level it provides a chuckle for the many atheist among the ranks of the radicals and confirms their contempt of “superstitious” conservatives. “Haw, haw want that get them foaming at the mouth down at the Southern Baptist church?”

Note the repetitious use of the word enemy in Alinsky’s writing, not opponent as in political opponent but enemy as enemy in war, one that must be annihilated. Never make the mistake of underestimating the contempt and hatred that the socialist have for the American society that supports them. We are enemies and the culture war is as real of a war as any our nation has ever faced. This is a cage match and it is possible maybe even probable that the traditional conservative philosophy of American liberty will not survive the consistent and relentless assault of our radical socialist enemies. Yet this is a fight well worth fighting, we can do no less than to face these people and oppose their agenda to the best of our abilities. Some of us will have to get our hands dirty no doubt and fight them by the same rules that they use against us; it is time to remove the blindfold and untie our hands.

We have a unique window of opportunity because the socialist chaos agents have become the “status quo”, the radical leftist now sit in almost every position of power in this nation. The radical socialist is “the man” now and as such they are now vulnerable to the tactics that they have perfected and used against their conservative enemies in the past. Frankly the right lost the first culture war but do not fear; our radical enemies know how to destroy not how to conserve. America is one big island of lost children now and the “Lord of the Flies’ will have his day, that we can not change now. Take heart and stand firm; the radical’s addiction to fantasy thinking and contempt for the truth will lead them and the nation into one disaster after another and we will be there to say “we told you so” and pick up the pieces.
