A FIGHT over a $US20 ($23) debt and a washing machine has ended with one man's 14-month old daughter being killed with a baseball bat while attending a church service.

David Collins, 56, is accused of attempting to hit Claude Hankins with a baseball bat while Mr Hankins and his daughter were sitting in a prayer meeting at Thy Kingdom Come Church in Wheaton, Minnesota.

Police say Mr Collins missed Mr Hankins and struck his 14-month-old daughter Audrey instead, who died in hospital a few hours later.

Mr Collins and Mr Hankins had allegedly argued over a washing machine and a dryer lent to Mr Collins and a debt of $US20.

Mr Collins was charged with two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of attempted second-degree murder and one count of second-degree assault.

A man who accompanied him to the church, Darryl Kennedy, was also charged with one count of second-degree assault.
