I Hope You Fail part 1 of 3

This is one powerful message given by Dr. Jamal Bryant that I need to share with all of you. I am so tripping out, I'm beside myself. I have typed a transcript of only five minutes for all of my international readers who need to use Babel Fish to translate. For those of you who understand english, I highly recommend that you take a moment of your time and listen to the entire message.

**********************************************************************

This is probably unnerving and upsetting to some parents who are here. They want to know, how in the world this preacher from Baltimore is going to tell their young people that he wants them to fail? Preacher I've got an issue with that because we're supposed to be getting ready for success. This is our last night, you ought to be giving us a word of encouragement. You ought to be giving us something that is inspirational. Here we are gased up, crumped up and excited and you're telling us you want us to fail? How in the world can this be true when over 45 million people per day watch Oprah Winfrey to get good advise? We came to Megafest and you're telling us that you want us to fail? This doesn't make sense to us preacher? When over 13 billion dollars per year are spent on seminars and self-help books and losing weight and proving ourselves? And you're telling us you want us to fail? Do you know how much it took for us to fight through home and through family and through financial situations and you've got the nerve to stand up and look us in the face and say that the WORD the Lord told you to give us is that you want us to fail?!

And absolutely without fear of contradiction I'm not going to bite my tongue tonight. I want you to know forthrightly that I do want you to fail. Robert Kennedy said that in order for you to see a great success, you first have to see a great failure. Because anybody who is sucessful in something, first had to fail at something. There is something to be said when you understand that failure is the pricetag for success. The only people who really learn how to fight to be successful are people who failed at something. That's why alot of young people don't like to come to church, it's because church folk come down with amnesia once they get saved and act like they never failed at anything. So we've got youth advisers and youth directors who act like they've never had no one night stand. We have preachers who act like they never had no gin and juice. Parents act like they never smoked no weed. Choir directors who act like they never failed a class.

But I'm so glad that I have some folks in here who are honest enough to say preacher yeah I failed before but my failure was not falling. My failure was failing if I stayed down. But if I fell down and I got back up again there is no failure in that. Can I tell you why the devil doesn't like you is that even though you failed at some things you still got confidence. Folk don't like you but they don't know what it took for you to be who you are tonight. Can you imagine how many folk are jealous of you and don't even know you. How many people keep looking at you up and down acting like they want you're stuff but they don't know what it took for you to get what you have.

Failure is a price. You've got to make up in your mind am I willing to fail if that will lead me to success. Jeremiah chapter 9:23 says let not the wise glory in his wisdom. Let not the mighty glory in his might. Let not the rich glory in their riches. But let all your glory go back to God. I want to submit to you brothers and sisters that failure is the only way that you can really learn how to give God all the glory. I can tell the folk who ain't been through nothing tonight. Because the folk who ain't been through nothing need somebody to pump them up to praise God. But the folk who have had their back up against the wall, had to live in a crazy house, had an uncle touch you inappropriately, had a mother jealous of you, had a father who was no where to be seen, had church folk who knew your business and talked about you at choir rehearsal. So that when you get into God's house, you don't need nobody to beg you to praise God. All you've got to do is look back over your life and say I've had some good days and I've had some bad days. But my good days outweight my bad days.

I want you to understand that it's alright to fail. Because that's when you get your praise on. You don't believe me remember that guy by the name of Lazarus. Lazarus was sick and Mary and Martha sent Jesus a Motorola two way page saying come quick Jesus your homeboy is about to die. And Jesus said I'm not going to come because what he's going through is just for my glory. Preacher you're messing me up tonight. Are you telling me that I'm in a situation tonight simply because God wants to see how long I'm going to stay in it before He gets the glory. Preacher you're going to fast for me. Are you telling me I could have been out of it by now if I learned how to shout unto God when I was going through. I know some of you can't identify because you ain't going through something. I'm not preaching to the whole house, but I'm preaching to about 200 of you who said all I need is a chance to praise God. Because if I preach God in my mess...

Notice what happens in the text. Jesus said Simon the devil is trying to tear you up and I'm praying for you. I'm praying that your FAITH doesn't fail. He never said you. He is saying under no uncertain terms no matter what you're going through YOU'RE FAITH CAN'T FAIL.
