Believe in Yourself... ♥

While visiting Solvang, California in the early 1990's, I purchased a porcelain plaque that was artistically designed with these words of encouragement on it. I was in my early 20's at the time, it helped me get through a lot of growing changes back then. I read it every morning until I had it memorized. I've had this plaque with magnet attached on my refrigerator ever since. I'd like to share this beautiful poem with you.

As an aside, I love visiting Solvang, CA. It is one of my favorite destinations to take a quick day or weekend jaunt. It's just a two and half hour drive from Los Angeles, CA. I have often spontaneously called up a friend or my mom and asked, "Would you like to have brunch at Paula's Pancake House in Solvang today?" They make the BEST Egg's Benedict. :) Afterwards, we spend the rest of the day walking off our breakfast and visiting all of the wonderful gift shops they have there. Sometimes we'd stay the night if we decide to have a hearty steak dinner and drinks at the Viking Garden Restaurant. But it's usually just a day trip. By the way, this town is known for windmills, jelly beans and Viking/Nordic influence. I highly recommend visiting if you've never been. It is such a quaint little town. Oh and I forgot to mention, the Chumash Indian reservation is only 15 minutes out of town and they have built a humongous casino if that's your cup of tea. But just so you know in advance, they do not serve alcohol because of the windy roads going through the Santa Ynez valley.

Believe in Yourself

Believe in yourself
in the power you have to
control your own life
day by day.

Believe in the
strength that you have
deep inside, and your
faith will help
show you the way.

Believe in tomorrow
and what it will bring.
Let a hopeful heart
carry you through.

For things will work out
if you trust and believe
there's no limit
to what you can do.

A Totally New Process: Your Natural Growth Takes Over

A Totally New Process: Your Natural Growth Takes Over
[source: Osho International]
Tao: The Golden Gate, Vol 2 Chapter #4

An intelligent person is one who comes to see that there is no need to compete at all. "I am myself, you are yourself I need not be you, you need not be me." A rose is a rose is a rose; it need not be a lotus. The lotus need not become anxious, worried about becoming a rose flower. The whole nature is in deep peace for the simple reason that competition has not poisoned it. There is no competition at all.

The biggest cedar of Lebanon has no ego about it, that "I am bigger than others." Just a small rosebush has no inferiority complex that, "I am so small." Nothing of superiority, nothing of inferiority, but each is unique. This stupidity has entered only human consciousness -- human consciousness is being conditioned for it.

Latifa, you ask me: WHAT IS AMBITION? It is a feverish state, it is an insane state. It is not healthy.

You say: TO LIVE WITHOUT AMBITION SEEMS FRIGHTENING... Of course, because you have lived with ambition for so long, it has become your very lifestyle. You have become identified with it; you don't know any other way of living. If you drop it means as if you are dying. And in fact that's what has to be done by a sannyasin: he has to die in many ways before he can be reborn. And this is a must: that you should die as an ambitious person, you should die as an ambitious mind completely, totally. Not even a trace of ambition should be left in you because even if a small trace is there it will start growing again. It is like a root: it will again sprout, again leaves will grow, again there will be foliage. It has to be completely thrown out of your being.Yes, it feels difficult, Latifa, very arduous, almost impossible in the beginning, because we don't know any other way how to live.

People ask me, "If we drop competitiveness, if we drop ambitiousness, then how we will grow?" and trees are growing and animals are growing, and the whole existence is moving and growing -- just you cannot grow without ambitiousness...

And with ambitiousness what has happened? Have you grown? Something wrong has grown in you; something like cancer in your being has grown. Yes, that cancer will not grow anymore.

If you drop all ambition, then a totally new process sets in: your natural growth takes over.

Then you are not competing with others; you are simply evolving each moment within yourself, not comparing.

If you are playing music and it is beautiful this moment, next moment it will be more beautiful, because out of this moment the next moment it will be more beautiful, because out of this moment the next moment is going to be born -- from where else it will come? -- next moment you will have a deeper music arising, and so on, so forth. You need not be competitive with other musicians; in fact, if you are competitive with other musicians your inner music will never grow. You may learn more tricks, strategies, techniques how to defeat them, how to go ahead of them by right or wrong means -- because competitiveness is so blind it does not bother at all what is right and what is wrong.

Competitiveness believes that whatsoever succeeds is right and whatsoever fails is wrong. That is the only criterion for an ambitious mind: the end makes the means right. For a non-competitive mind there is no question of thinking of others; you simply go on growing on your own. Your roots go deeper into Tao, into nature. Not that other trees have reached deeper so you have to reach -- you reach deeper for your own nourishment, you reach deeper for your own enrichment, you reach deeper because your branches can go higher. Only the deeper the roots go, higher the branches reach -- but it has nothing to do with others; others are accepted as they are. Nobody takes any note of others.

Latifa, it is certainly starting a new life up from the very beginning. That's why Christ says: Unless you are born again you shall not enter into my kingdom of God. A rebirth is needed.

Your Incomparable Uniqueness... ♥

Your Incomparable Uniqueness

- Osho, Where do Individuality and Ego separate?

- Individuality means your uniqueness -- not compared with anybody else. Your incomparable uniqueness: that is individuality. Individuality is beautiful; that's how God has made you -- as an individual. Ego is comparison. Ego is your invention. God has not given you any ego; he has certainly given you an individuality.

Ego is comparison: you think yourself more intelligent than the other, you think yourself more superior than the other -- or inferior. You think yourself more beautiful than the other. Then you are bringing ego in: the moment you compare yourself with somebody, the conclusion that comes out of the comparison is ego. If you stop comparing then you are there -- tremendously beautiful and unique. All superiority or inferiority, all anxiety of where I am, where I stand, who is above me and who is below me, are ego problems. The superior person suffers, the inferior suffers; both suffer -- because even the superiormost cannot have a state where he can be satisfied.

Abraham Lincoln was not very beautiful, his face was ugly. And that was a torture. In fact, when he stood for the presidentship, eh had no beard. In his campaign, a small girl suggested to him, "If you grow a beard, you will look a little better." Hence, he grew the beard. But he remained constantly aware of his ugliness. He became the president... but whenever he would see a beautiful face he would feel hurt.

Napoleon Bonaparte was not very tall, just five-five -- just exactly my size. He remained disturbed for his whole life. Now, nothing is wrong in being five-five. What is wrong in being five-five? -- I have never felt any problem in it! And what is going to happen if you are five-seven or five-eight? Nothing is going to happen, you will be the same -- five-five or five-seven or five-nine makes no difference. But he was tremendously troubled -- he was so conscious of it. One day he was trying to fix a picture on the wall and the picture was a little higher than him, and his bodyguard said, "Sir, I am higher than you, I will do it." He said, "Stop! Never utter such a word. You are taller, not higher."He was very conscious about it -- "Higher? Say you are taller; don't say higher!" Now, if even Napoleon is not happy, who can be?

People who compare can never be happy. These trees are happy -- the smaller tree does not bother about the higher tree. They never bother about each other: the smaller is smaller and the higher is higher. In fact, the higher and the taller and the smaller and the lower are human terms -- they don't exist in the world of trees. A rosebush is as happy as a big oak tree; there is no problem about it. Not even a rosebush, but just a small leaf of grass is as happy as any lotus flower. It makes no difference.

God is showering on everybody -- on the rosebush, on the grassleaf, on the lotus flower... he is showering everywhere. And the whole existence is happy; only man has got into trouble. The ego arises with comparison. Individuality you have, unique individuality you have. With comparison how many problems arise!

Just a few days before, one woman was saying to me that she cannot accept her body. But why? -- because she is a little fatter. Now, why compare? How can you be fatter if you don't compare? Mm? -- you must have some idea of a thinner woman, and you must be comparing. I don't see any problem in the woman directly. I looked at her: she is a beautiful woman, a unique woman, an individual -- but unnecessarily in anxiety, in deep anguish, suffering. She cannot believe that anybody can love her, because she is a little fat.

And who has given the idea? How do you decide what is standard? Nobody has any idea what is standard; all averages are just false. Nobody knows how much fat is needed for a particular body -- only the body itself knows. Listen to your body, love your body, and don't compare. Now this comparison will create such trouble that she may miss her whole life. Because of comparison she cannot love. And she will create such trouble that she will not allow anybody to love her, because she cannot trust anybody who can love her. That man must be perverted: how can you love an ugly woman? -- your idea of beauty must be perverted, or you must be deceiving.

She cannot trust anybody -- if somebody comes and says to her, "I love you," she will distrust them. She cannot love herself -- how can YOU love her? Impossible. You must have some other design, you must have some other idea behind it: you may be interested only in sex, or you may be interested in something else -- in her money, or something else -- but you cannot love her. Because how can you love her? -- she cannot love her own face in the mirror. And even if you persist, she will try in every way to destroy your love, so she can prove that she was right and you were wrong. Now it is very difficult to find a lover who will take that much trouble to convince you. she will remain loveless. And when there will be no love coming, her idea will become more and more fixated: I am ugly. And she is not ugly at all.

In fact, I have never seen an ugly person in my life. How can a person be ugly? Have you ever seen any ugly crow? Impossible! Have you ever seen an ugly cow? Impossible. Have you ever seen an ugly tree? Impossible. All is beautiful as it is... but with human beings you bring comparison, and immediately trouble starts.

Don't compare, there is no need. Comparison is one of the greatest calamities that has fallen on humanity. You are perfect as you are.

Love yourself, respect yourself. If you are not going to respect yourself, who is going to respect you. If you are not going to love yourself, who is going to love you?

People don't respect themselves, and expect everybody else to respect them. They don't love themselves, and want the whole world to fall in love with them. Now you are asking impossibles -- these things cannot happen. Love yourself, respect yourself -- and a person who respects himself never compares. Comparison is a disrespect.

Now, if you summarize all this, it means: to be an egoist is to be very disrespectful towards yourself. To be an individual is perfectly good, but to be egoistic is disrespectful.

You Raise Me Up ~ by Josh Groban

When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary
When troubles come and my heart burdened be
Then I am still and wait here in the silence
Until you come and sit awhile with me

You raise me up so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas
I am strong when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up to more than I can be

You raise me up so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas
I am strong when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up to more than I can be

President Obama Announces New Fuel Economy Standards

Wow! 2025 seriously? That's 14 years away. He claims that he will save consumers $1.7 trillion by 2025. HARDLY. Of course, this so-called "savings" doesn't take inflation into account and is making several assumptions regarding the future like the value of a dollar, will consumers have the same purchasing power then as they do today, the price of oil that will affect consumer gas price at the pump, consumer demand for new cars, economic growth. I've owned my car for 9 years and have no intention on buying a new one anytime soon. Yeah sure, I would like to buy a new car. But there's a difference between wants and needs, a luxury purchase (desire) vs a necessity. I don't care to add a car payment to my monthly expenses, most especially when operating on a tight budget. But that's not something I expect our federal government to understand. Although, I wish they would treat the public's checkbook in the same manner they treat their own personal budgets. Our federal government spends money without having any consideration for those who will be forced to pay for the bill, the taxpayers, YOU AND I. Oh and for those of you who don't already know, we already have Smog Check Program Laws and Regulations in place that stipulate Federal legal emissions requirements.

I was floored to find out that President Obama has spent this day tweeting for help and giving yet another speech at an auto industry event. I know he has the title, but is he a President or a community organizer? He tells the American public that our country faces economic armageddon and then walks away. :/

Now I'm hearing that the new liberal talking point or sound bite is to refer to T.E.A. partiers as terrorists? Wow! Because we want D.C. to be fiscally responsible! T.E.A. is an acronym for TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY. You are free to listen to Obama's supporters in the media or open your eyes and look around you. Do their talking points line up with reality? Please click here to read excerpts taken from the liberal media.

Congress has passed it's third budget that also includes raising the debt ceiling and avoid a default. Congress sent the bill to the Senate today. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) immediately killed the bill, defeated it and shelved it. Meaning he didn't allow the Senate to review it, debate it, make changes, vote on revised bill then send back to congress. This is the democrats idea of compromise, no debate, kill it.

FYI: Senator Reid, Nancy Pelosi, President Obama and the democrats were in total control for 2 years and FAILED to pass a budget or debt ceiling increase bill?! This budget was due last October. The debt limit needs to be increased because of all of the spending they have made since President Obama took over the oval office Jan 20, 2009.

President Obama today announced the next phase in the Administration’s program to increase fuel efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas pollution for all new cars and trucks sold in the United States. These new standards will cover cars and light trucks for Model Years 2017-2025, requiring performance equivalent to 54.5 mpg in 2025 while reducing greenhouse gas emissions to 163 grams per mile.

Taken together, the standards established under this Administration span Model Years 2011 to 2025. They will save consumers money, reduce our dependence on oil, and protect the environment:

Savings at the pump

•Thanks to the standards, consumers will save an estimated $1.7 trillion dollars in real fuel costs over the life of their vehicles.

•By 2025, the standards are projected to save families an estimated $8,200 in fuel savings over the lifetime of a new vehicle, relative to the Model Year 2010 standard.

Cutting oil dependence

•As our cars and trucks become more fuel efficient, we will need to use less oil. Over the life of the program, the standards will save an estimated 12 billion barrels of oil – nearly four years’ worth of consumption by light-duty vehicles at current levels.

•By 2025, the standards for MY 2011-2025 will reduce oil consumption by an estimated 2.2 million barrels a day – more than we import from any country other than Canada. As the vehicle fleet turns over and older vehicles are replaced with more efficient ones, the oil savings from these standards will grow, ultimately reaching over 4 million barrels a day – nearly as much as we import from all OPEC countries combined.

•The MY 2011-2025 standards are critical to meeting President Obama’s goal of cutting oil imports by one-third by 2025, contributing over half the savings needed to meet the President’s goal.

Protecting human health and the environment

•The standards will reduce carbon dioxide pollution by over 6 billion metric tons – equivalent to the emissions from the United States last year, or what the Amazon rainforest absorbs in three years.

•The standards will protect public health by cutting air pollutants such as air toxics, smog, and soot.

Developed in partnership with auto manufacturers, the State of California, the United Auto Workers (UAW), national environmental organizations and other stakeholders, these achievable and cost effective standards will bring the nation over halfway to the President’s goal of reducing oil imports by a third by 2025. These standards thus represent a key component of the comprehensive energy policy that this Administration has pursued since day one, which aims to increase safe and responsible energy production at home while reducing our overall dependence on oil with cleaner alternative fuels and greater efficiency.

Thursday July 28, 2011

DHAKA -- At least 17 people were killed and about 30 others injured as a goods laden truck and a night passenger bus collided head on in Bangladesh's Shajahanpur sub- district of Bogra district, 197 km northwest of the capital Dhaka, on Thursday morning.

Police was quoted by private news agency UNB as saying that the Dhaka bound truck collided head on with the passenger bus, leaving 11 passengers dead on the spot and over 30 injured at about 6 a.m. local time. Six of the injured died on the way to local hospitals.

All the victims were passengers of the night bus which was over loaded.

Police said the drivers of both the vehicles were driving recklessly and lost control while taking a turn.

Bangladesh has one of the highest fatality rates for road accidents in the world due mainly to shoddy highways, poorly maintained vehicles, violation of traffic rules by inept drivers and lack of monitoring of the traffic department.

According to a recent study of Accident Research Center of Bangladesh University of Engineering Technology, some 10,000 to 12, 000 people are killed in road accident in Bangladesh every year, of which about 75 percent fatalities occur in rural areas.

7 Philippine Troops Killed, 21 Wounded In Clash With Radical Islamic Militants On Jolo Island! :/

Abu Sayyaf also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya is one of several military Islamist separatist groups based in and around the southern Philippines, in Bangsamoro (Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga) where for almost 30 years various Muslim groups have been engaged in an insurgency for an independent province in the country. The name of the group is derived from the Arabic ابو, abu ("father of") and sayyaf ("Swordsmith"). The group calls itself "Al-Harakat Al-Islamiyya" or the "Islamic Movement".

Superferry 14 was a large ferry destroyed by a bomb on February 27, 2004, killing 116 people in the Philippines' worst terrorist attack and the world's deadliest terrorist attack at sea.

On that day, the 10,192 ton ferry was sailing out of Manila, with about 900 passengers and crew. A television set filled with 8 lb. (4 kilograms) of TNT had been placed on board. 90 minutes out of port, the bomb exploded. 63 people were killed immediately and 53 were missing and presumed dead. Manila - Seven soldiers were killed Thursday in a clash with Muslim militants in the southern Philippines, a regional military spokesman said.

Twenty-one soldiers were also wounded in the fighting in Patikul town on Jolo Island, 1,000 kilometres south of Manila, Lieutenant Colonel Randolph Cabangbang said.

Cabangbang said the soldiers were conducting combat operations when they encountered a group of about 70 Abu Sayyaf rebels.

The guerrillas were allegedly under Abu Sayyaf senior commanders Radulan Sahiron and Isnilon Hapilon, the military said.

Cabangbang said the military's island commander has requested additional troops be dispatched to the area and for a helicopter to evacuate the wounded soldiers.

The Abu Sayyaf has been blamed for some of the worst terrorist attacks in the Philippines, as well as high-profile kidnappings involving foreign hostages.

Monterrey, Mexico: 18 Bodies Found In Hidden Mass Grave! 41,000 Human Beings Have Been MURDERED In Mexico By The Mexican Drug Cartel's Since 2006!

France24 news

Thursday July 28, 2011

At least 18 bodies have been recovered from a hidden grave near Mexico's northern industrial city of Monterrey, a Nuevo Leon state attorney general's office official said.

The bodies were found in the town of Juarez, some 20 kilometers (12 miles) outside of Monterrey, a spokesman in the attorney general's office said earlier, declining to be named or provide details.

"The final count of human remains found in a clandestine grave in Juarez is 18 people. The excavation has been halted because no more traces of remains were found," another official said.

Officials said the bodies were in "varying degrees of decomposition," suggesting they had been buried for at least a month.

An upsurge in violence has stripped Monterrey, home to many multinational companies, of its reputation as a safe haven in Mexico.

Authorities blame a spillover of drug violence from neighboring Tamaulipas state, where a turf war between the Gulf cartel and its former hitmen the Zetas has created a climate of fear.

More than 70 violent deaths have been recorded this month in the Monterrey metropolitan area, including an attack on a bar which left 21 dead.

Elsewhere, nine men were killed in suspected drug violence in the western state of Michoacan, including six killed in a shootout, state officials said Wednesday.

More than 41,000 people have died in violence linked to Mexico's organized crime gangs since President Felipe Calderon launched a military crackdown in December 2006, according to media reports.

89 Kidnapped Infants For Sale Rescued From Two Human Trafficking Rings In China! 369 Monsters Arrested!

MSNBC news
written by Reuters staff
Wednesday July 27, 2011

BEIJING — Chinese police rescued 89 infants kidnapped for sale and arrested 369 people they said were linked to two human trafficking rings this month, state media reported on Wednesday.

In the first case, the traffickers, who were mostly Vietnamese residents, abducted children from Vietnam and sold them in China's southern regions of Guangdong and Guangxi, the China Daily newspaper said, citing an unnamed officer from Guangdong's provincial department of public security.

In mid-July, police detained 39 suspects in connection with trafficking and rescued eight infants, aged 10 days to seven months, who had been drugged with sleeping pills, the newspaper said.

In another crackdown this month, police arrested 330 people suspected of involvement in the trafficking of baby girls, the newspaper said. The police operation took place across 14 provinces.

'One child' policy

The 81 infants rescued in this operation were aged 10 days to four months and are now in the care of institutions, the report said.

Efforts by China, the world's most populous nation, to contain population growth through a strict "one child" policy, coupled with the country's long tradition of favoring boys, have contributed to the rise in cases of trafficking in children and women.

Women are sold to men in remote areas who are unable to find brides due to the sex imbalance resulting from China's one-child policy which has encouraged sex-selective abortions.

Police set up a special task force in February following the discovery of a child kidnap ring in the Guangxi region, the newspaper said.

Another trafficking operation was broken up in the poor southwestern province of Yunnan this May.

The report said that police have uncovered 39,194 cases of human trafficking in China since April 2009, the majority of the cases involving women or children.

Family Shot While Helping Oakland Homeless! DRIVE-BY SHOOTING. :*( Police Are Playing Dumb! Oakland Gang

Wednesday July 27, 2011

Mom, dad and child struck by bullets overnight in Oakland.

A family trying to do some good work was shot overnight in Oakland.

Oakland police responded to a shooting in the 1000 block of 47th at 12:33 a.m. and found at least two shooting victims inside a van.

Police said a man and a woman were with their two young children and were handing out food to the homeless when they were shot. Police said the family had just pulled to the side of the road when an unknown suspect pulled up alongside them and opened fire on their van.

The family lives in East Oakland and often handed out food at night. People who know the family said most of the time the father went alone on these kind of trips, but last night he had his wife and two children with him.

Police said the woman's injuries were considered minor, but the man suffered a life threatening wound and remains in critical condition at an area hospital Wednesday.

NBC Bay Area's Jodi Hernandez spoke to a homeless person in Oakland Wednesday who told her that the victims were well known in the homeless community. He said they often passed out food in East Oakland. Tony Wright said they were handing out fish and chips when the shooting happened.

He said the male victim's name was John and that he often gave him food. Wright said when John would see him on the street, he'd roll down his window, hand him a bag of food and then say a prayer.

"Why did it have to happen to him," a tearful Wright asked.

Wright called the John a "man of God" and says he now fears the shootings will make others reluctant to come out and help those in need.

William Holloway (pictured), another person who knew the family, said they had just handed him food when the shots were fired.

A citizen flagged down a passing CHP officer to report the shooting.

Police do not have a motive for the shooting, nor any suspects.

Coyote Kills Dog And Injures Woman In Orange County, CA! More Wild Animal MADNESS! :/

Karen Sherif was walking her 12-year-old Yorkie, Pooh, on Tuesday morning on their usual route near her home in Laguna Woods.

Pooh, a slow mover, stopped to smell a bench on Via Alhambra, and Sherif walked a few steps ahead. All of the sudden, she heard a yelp and turned around, only to find a coyote with her dog latched in its mouth.

"I just started screaming at the top of my lungs," said Sherif, 64.

The coyote took off, dragging Sherif into the road by Pooh’s leash. Sherif let go of the leash as she fell, and neighbors rushed out of their homes to help. One called the police, and another ran after the coyote.

But it was too late. Pooh’s body was found about 100 feet away, her neck broken.

Neighbors said the coyote continued to linger, though it eventually left. Paramedics treated Sherif for cuts and scrapes.

The attack is the second in recent months in the small Orange County city in which a dog has been killed and its owner injured by coyotes that live in the nearby brush. In May, a woman was bit on the hand as she tried to save her dog from an attack in the 700 block of Avenida Majorca.

Several residents also have reported cats and dogs being killed by the animals. Police have said the coyotes are becoming noticeably more aggressive.
Authorities have set traps for the animals and reached out to residents, distributing flyers warning them to secure trash cans, avoid leaving food out on their porches and to keep their pets inside at night. Many residents take a large stick or golf club with them when they walk their pets, just in case.

But officials said the traps haven’t caught any of the animals, and Sherif said although she had heeded many of the precautions, there wasn’t anything she could have done to save her dog.

"It was during the day, and it was so quick -- so terribly quick," Sherif said. "The coyote was five to seven feet away from me when I turned around and saw [Pooh] in its mouth. I couldn’t have hit it with a stick -- it was too late."

Lt. Jason Kravetz of the Laguna Beach Police Department said authorities asked neighboring areas for help in combating the coyote problem and are still looking for the coyote involved in Tuesday’s attack.

Any resident who comes across a coyote shouldn’t confront it, he said, and should raise their arms and yell to scare it off.

Sherif is also doing her part to warn neighbors so they can protect their own pets. She doesn’t want this to happen to anyone else, but said it seems as though the coyotes are becoming more brazen.

She said she has seen coyotes walk down the middle of the street in the early evening, and they’ve been known to jump the 5-foot walls surrounding the neighborhood’s patios to snatch an animal.

But Sherif said although residents know the coyotes are becoming more aggressive, they can’t predict how close the animals will get. In her case, she had no idea the coyote would take her dog during a 10 a.m. walk.

"I don’t know what would have happened if she had been three feet in front of me. I don’t want to get involved with the coyote myself, but lagging behind me made her vulnerable," Sherif said of Pooh. "And for that I have to take blame, but she was being a dog, just smelling the bench. I had no way of knowing that the animal was even in the area."

A kangaroo that attacked an elderly woman in Queensland's south-west has been put down.

Phyliss Johnson was taking the washing from the line in the backyard of her Charleville home when the red kangaroo came at her.

Towering over the 94-year-old, it slammed her to the ground then rained down powerful kicks.

Eventually Ms Johnson managed to get to her feet and grab a nearby broom.

She struck the roo several times, dazing it, and ran to the safety of her granny flat.

Police arrived on the scene and were forced to ward the animal off with capsicum spray.

National Parks and Wildlife officers were then brought in to take it away.

The Department of Environment and Resource Management says it euthanased the kangaroo on Wednesday afternoon.

North Korea Starving, But Elite Open Luxury Restaurant

The phrase dining capitals of the world conjures up places like Paris, Rome, New York, Tokyo, uh, Pyongyang?

The capital of North Korea has been previously best known for its gastronomic delicacy of cold noodles in broth – slyly called Pyongyang deoldeori, which translates to "shivering in Pyongyang."

Earlier this week, "The Restaurant at Hana" opened its doors in the North Korea capital. Restaurants come and go with little fanfare in most world capitals, but it get noticed when one opens in the so-called Hermit Kingdom where famine is threatening to return to the country.

Located in the new headquarters of a North Korean and European joint venture electronics company that produces DVD players, the new restaurant boasts of its many amenities on its website while welcoming "foreigners and locals alike."

It's not clear why the restaurant contains a hairdresser, sauna, treadmills and a swimming pool. But the heavily produced promotional video, with animated champagne corks popping and smiling clown fish, lingers over these stations as well as the marble-lined private dining rooms decked with flat-screen LCD TVs and glass chandeliers.

Despite being a dining establishment, the Restaurant at Hana website, surprisingly doesn't mention food. And the video does not show any people in the restaurant, either customers or staff.

The lack of food may be related to the growing food crisis in the isolated [MARXIST (emphasis mine)] communist country. International aid agencies like the World Food Program say the public food distribution system has collapsed and up to 6 million people are at risk of malnutrition and starvation.

Representatives from Restaurant at Hana's umbrella group, Phoenix Commercial Ventures Ltd, declined to be interview for this article. They initially agreed to answer questions submitted by email, but did not respond to ABC News' questions.

This is not the first time a restaurant has caused a stir in Pyongyang. Last fall, the country's first burger joint opened to blockbusting lines of North Koreans thirsting for a taste of the decidedly American fare. One of the proprietors of that unmistakably capitalist venture was none other than the Dear Leader Kim Jong Il's own sister.

North Korean Famine Caused By Marxist Communist Ideology And Brutal Dictatorship

North Korean Famine
[source: wikipedia]

The North Korean famine (also known as the Arduous March or the March of Tribulation) was a famine in North Korea which began in the early 1990s. Estimates state that, from a population of approximately 22 million, between 900,000 and 3.5 million people died from starvation or hunger-related illnesses, with the deaths peaking in 1997.

Beginning of the famine

The causes of the North Korean famine were complex, though it may be largely attributed to a series of environmental crises. In the 1980s and 1990s, the North Korean economy relied heavily upon favorable trading terms with the Soviet Union; following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, North Korea entered a period of internal industrial decline, from which it has yet to fully recover. This meant that North Korea was unable to continue to fuel its input-heavy agricultural system, and food production went into decline. North Korea also experienced severe flooding, meaning much of the country's limited farmland was unusable. Due to the country's reclusive nature, it simply did not have the foreign currency reserves necessary to supplement domestic food production with imports.

In 1992, the North Korean government launched the "Let's Eat Two Meals Per Day Campaign" in an attempt to cut down food consumption. By 1994, people in some remote areas could not get food for days at a time, despite being issued the usual rationing coupons. As infrastructure throughout the country was collapsing, the distribution of food was breaking down and, as a result, shops were empty.

The vulnerable agricultural sector experienced a massive failure in 1995-96. In 1995, a series of floods devastated about 40% of North Korea's arable land. As a result, grain production was reduced by 1.9 million tons, or about 30% of the total amount of grain necessary to feed the people. This trend continued in 1996. In 1997, North Korea was the victim of drought.

Current status

North Korea has not yet resumed its food self-sufficiency and relies on external food aid from China, Pakistan, Japan, South Korea and the United States. In 2002, North Korea requested that food supplies no longer be delivered.

In the mid-2000s, the World Food Programme reported that famine conditions were in imminent danger of returning to North Korea, and the government was reported to have mobilized millions of city-dwellers to help rice farmers.

Agricultural production increased from about 2.7 million metric tons in 1997 to 4.2 million metric tons in 2004.[14] As of 2011, famine continues to be a problem for North Korea, although less so than in the mid to late 1990s. Flooding in 2007 and reductions in food aid exacerbate the problem, however.

In 2011, during a visit to North Korea, US ex-president Jimmy Carter reported that one third of children there were malnourished and stunted in their growth because of lack of food. He also said that the North Korean state had reduced daily food intake from 1,400 calories to 700 calories in 2011[16] (a normal food intake for a healthy European is 2,000-2,500 calories per day). Some scholars believe that North Korea is purposefully exaggerating the food shortage, aiming to receive additional food supplies for its planned 2012 mass celebration by means of foreign aid.

International response

Initial assistance to North Korea started as early as 1990, with small-scale support from religious groups in South Korea and assistance from UNICEF. In August 1995, North Korea made an official request for humanitarian aid and the international community responded accordingly.

Beginning in 1997, the U.S. also began shipping food aid to North Korea through the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to combat the famine. Shipments peaked in 1999 at nearly 700,000 tons making the U.S. the largest foreign aid donor to the country at the time. Under the Bush Administration, aid was drastically reduced year after year from 350,000 tons in 2001 to 40,000 in 2004. The Bush Administration took criticism for using "food as a weapon" during talks over the North's nuclear weapons program, but insisted the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) criteria were the same for all countries and the situation in North Korea had "improved significantly since its collapse in the mid-1990s."

China and South Korea remain the largest donors of food aid to North Korea. The U.S. objects to this manner of donating food due to lack of supervision. In 2005, China and South Korea combined to provide 1 million tons of food aid, each contributing half.

Humanitarian aid from North Korea's neighbors has been cut off at times to provoke North Korea to resume boycotted talks. For example, South Korea decided to "postpone consideration" of 500,000 tons of rice for the North in 2006 but the idea of providing food as a clear incentive (as opposed to resuming "general humanitarian aid") has been avoided. There have also been aid disruptions due to widespread theft of railroad cars used by mainland China to deliver food relief.

Estimated deaths

Estimates of the number of deaths vary widely.

On May 15, 2001, Choe Su-hon, one of Pyongyang's nine deputy foreign ministers, at a UNICEF conference in Beijing stated that between 1995 and 1998, 220,000 people had died in the famine. He also gave figures of an infant mortality increase from 27 to 48 per 1,000 people.

In 1998, US Congressional staffers who visited the country reported that: "Reliable sources estimate that of North Korea's 23 million people, between 300,000-800,000 people have died each year (peaking in 1997) as a result of the food shortages." They went on to say: "Other estimates of the death toll by exile groups are much higher." These higher estimates are sometimes considered problematic as they are based on the experience of North Koreans in the province of North Hamgyŏng. The province was one of the most devastated due to its urban environment and lack of agricultural production. Additionally, the original study warned not to extrapolate the death toll of the famine to the whole of North Korea. The same source goes on to say "The most reliable evaluation, carried out in a doctoral thesis at the University of Warwick by South Korean economist Suk Lee, shows that up to 660,000 people died from starvation and malnutrition-related diseases." It then goes on to say: "However, the truth is that nobody - including the government - probably knows the real figure."

North Korea's Looming Famine

The secretive rogue nation is reportedly facing its deadliest food shortage in years. Why can't Pyongyang feed its people?

As fears of famine spread, desperate North Koreans are risking their lives to escape over the border to China. This is hardly the isolated communist regime's first battle with deadly food shortages — or even its worst. Why can't North Korea find enough to eat under Kim Jong Il? Here, a brief guide:

Is North Korea's food shortage really that severe?

The situation is bad, and getting worse. The U.N.'s World Food Program says as many as 6 million of the country's 24 million citizens are at risk of malnutrition. Government rations have been slashed to give people just 10 percent of what they need for a healthy diet. The European Commission last week offered Pyongyang $14 million in emergency provisions, saying that 500,000 people, many of them already malnourished children, could die of starvation. But the U.N. says it would take $210 million in aid to prevent dire shortages.

How are the poor coping?

Increasingly, desperate families are risking their lives to cross the border into China. "You see more people out in the fields and on the hillsides digging roots, cutting grass or herbs," says Katharina Zellweger, head of the Swiss Agency for Development & Cooperation in Pyongyang. Others are even more desperate. "Some people are having to eat manure when they cannot get rice or corn," said one refugee, 68-year-old Kim Yeong, as quoted by Britain's Telegraph.

Why can't the country's "dear leader," Kim Jong Il, feed his people?
There are many contributing factors. The country's "Soviet-style planned economy" is a disaster. Many countries, including the U.S., have stopped sending food aid in the last few years. Even more nations cut off shipments after the rogue communist state nearly ignited a war with South Korea last year by sinking a South Korean ship and shelling one of the south's islands. Kim Jong Il also spends more money than his government can afford on his missile and nuclear programs. Some observers believe he's hoarding supplies in case he faces further sanctions. And to make matters worse, North Korea has been through a series of harsh winters and floods, and harvested an unusually weak potato crop this spring.

How unusual is this?

Sadly, not very. In fact, this is not even the worst famine North Koreans have had to endure since the fall of the Soviet Union, once the country's principal patron. The country was slammed by another famine in 1995, the year after Kim Jong Il inherited power from his father. That time, 3.5 million people reportedly starved to death.

One Man, The Only Vote That Matters. North Korean Marxist Communist Dictator Kim Jong Il Participates In His Country’s Election Sunday

It was no contest. Literally.

North Korea held an election on Sunday. There were 28,116 posts being filled in cities, towns, provinces and districts around the country of 24 million people.

When it was over, no purple thumbs were being held up in triumph.

North Korea’s state media on Tuesday reported the results, leading with the news that nearly all eligible voters participated. “Only those on foreign tour or working in oceans could not take part in the election,” it said.

And it said that not a single vote in opposition to any of the candidates, all chosen by the Korean Workers’ Party on behalf of Kim Jong Il’s regime, were cast.

At least that’s what was reported in Korean. In its English-language dispatch, the state news agency didn’t mention the unanimous outcome. The agency’s English report said, “99.97 percent of all the voters registered in the lists took part in the election and voted for the candidates for deputies registered in the relevant constituencies.”

The state news agency also said the election “fully demonstrated the might of the single-minded unity of the revolutionary ranks and advantages of Korean-style socialism.”

While that “single-minded unity” clearly eliminates the need for exit polls, one question remains: why did it take two days to get the results?

North Korea Imports Luxury Goods For Ruling Elites Despite Food Shortages

SEOUL, July 20 (Yonhap) -- North Korea has continued its shopping spree for Armani, Gucci and other luxury goods for its ruling elites, a South Korean official said Wednesday, the latest sign that international sanctions on the North have not been fully implemented.

The U.N. sanctions imposed on Pyongyang for its nuclear tests in 2006 and 2009 ban the communist country from trading in weapons of mass destruction, some conventional weapons and luxury goods.

Still, the North has skirted sanctions by buying luxury items that also included Rolex and Omega watches as well as Hennessy Cognac for its ruling elites, the official said.

The latest revelation comes as the North is grappling with chronic food shortages that may get worse after recent heavy rains submerged or washed away tens of thousands of hectares of farmland.

Earlier this year, the U.N. food agency appealed for 430,000 tons of food aid to feed 6 million vulnerable North Korean people, a quarter of the country's population.

The North has relied on international handouts since the late 1990s when it suffered a massive famine that was estimated to have killed 2 million people.

Eight South Korean Buddhist officials arrived in the North's western border city of Kaesong earlier Wednesday to deliver milk powder and other aid to nurseries, Unification Ministry spokeswoman Lee Jong-joo said.

Despite years of food shortages, North Korean leader Kim Jong-il has engaged in the gift politics of showering his top aides and other elites with luxury goods to win their loyalty.

Some ruling elites also enjoyed McDonald's hamburgers delivered from China via Air Koryo, North Korea's flagship airline, the official said, without elaborating.

The North also spent about US$7.5 million in buying cigarettes such as Marlboro and Mild Seven in the first five months, a rise of 117 percent compared to the same period last year, according to figures by South Korea and China. It also showed that the North imported $2.4 million worth of Hennessy Cognac, whiskey and Japanese beer, up 94 percent compared to the same period last year.

The trade volume between North Korea and China stood at US$1.96 billion in the first five months, twice as much as in the same period last year, according to Lee.

China is the North's last remaining ally, key economic benefactor and diplomatic supporter.

US Boy, 14, Sentenced In Mexico For Cartel Grisly MURDERS That He Committed

MEXICO CITY — A 14-year-old U.S. citizen charged in Mexico as having worked as a drug cartel hitman was found guilty of homicide on Tuesday and sentenced to three years in prison, the maximum for minors.

Edgar Jimenez Lugo, who was born in San Diego, allegedly worked for the Beltran Leyva brothers' drug cartel in Morelos state, outside Mexico City.

The attorney general's office in Morelos said a local juvenile court had convicted him of various crimes — including killing four people whose mutilated bodies were found hanging from a bridge not far from Mexico City last August.

The boy was caught last December as he boarded a plane in the city of Cuernavaca. He was traveling to the border city of Tijuana with two of his sisters, one of whom is believed to be the lover of one of the cartel's bosses, the Mexican army said at the time.

Jimenez first made headlines last November as reports of his grisly murders, including beheadings, surfaced.

Once arrested, he acknowledged having killed at least seven people under the influence of drugs provided by a cartel leader, according to the army statement.

He was eventually charged in four murders and three kidnappings.

The Mexican daily newspaper La Razon said in November that Jimenez was paid $3,000 for each murder he committed.

The three Jimenez siblings had wanted to cross to San Diego, where they have relatives.

Murders committed by minors, ranging from shoplifting to murder for the cartels, have risen across Mexico, officials say.

Parents in the violent cities of Ciudad Juarez and Tijuana on the U.S. border say children as young as 8 want to grow up to be drug lords, as the thrills and wealth of the trafficking world touches their lives.

BANGALORE: A 27-year-old homemaker, Vanajakshi of Gottigere on Bannerghatta Road, died after her husband, Vinay Kumar, allegedly threw acid on her. He buried her body about 100 km away.

On Friday, Vinay and Vanajakshi had an argument when she asked him to buy gold jewellery. In a fit of anger, Vinay threw acid on her.

"He came to the police station at around 10.30am on Saturday and reported that his wife had been kidnapped by some persons who were trying to conduct black magic. We went to his house and found lemon and vermilion in front of the house. First we thought that they had conducted religious rites, but Vinay was adamant that someone had kidnapped her.

But on questioning, he broke down and told us that he had thrown acid on her and taken the body to Punganur, bordering Mulbagal in Kolar district," an investigating officer said.

Real motive not known, say cops

He lived in a house rented out by his father-in-law in the same neighbourhood. We are yet to find the real motive behind the murder. We have only his version now," police said. Police said Vinay confessed that after killing Vanajakshi, he took the body in a Tata Sumo belonging to his friend to Punganur, Andhra Pradesh, where he buried it.

A police team has gone to Punganur to exhume the body. The team is facing difficulty in locating the body as Vinay has forgotten the exact location, in the Punganur ghat section. "Once we get the driver-cum-owner of the SUV, we will be able to locate the body," said a police officer. A 'missing' complaint, registered earlier, has been converted into a case of murder against Vinay. The case was registered on the complaint given by Vanajakshi's father.

Norway Shooter And Bomber's Facebook Deception

Vancouver Sun provided the link to his twitter and facebook profiles that were created LAST WEEK on an article of theirs I shared with you on Friday. Please scroll down my blog to read. I wanted to share the profile links with my readers on two articles I shared on Friday. Right before I went to bed at around 3am Saturday, I went to the Vancouver Sun article to pull the twitter and facebook links and noticed the facebook link was removed. I did a search on facebook and could not find anything with his name on facebook. NOTHING at around 3am on Saturday. I explained the above to my friends, they too did a search on facebook and confirmed back to me that nothing was found. His original facebook profile that you see below was removed sometime before 3am on Saturday. Click the picture to get the full view.
Below is the new facebook profile that was created sometime AFTER 3am on Saturday. This is the profile the media keeps referencing. Talk about DECEPTION! The shooter couldn't have changed it, he was already in police custody. Right?! Compare and contrast the changes made in these two profiles. Look carefully at what was altered. See for yourself what type of person and which specific groups "they" are targeting and wanting to incriminate and suppress. I will boldly say this, BOTH PROFILE's were falsely created for malintent. The people who created him and his image must have had an afterthought. Click the picture to get the full view.

The Parable of the Weeds

The Parable of the Weeds

24 Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. 25 But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. 26 When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared.

27 “The owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’

28 “‘An enemy did this,’ he replied.

“The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’

29 “‘No,’ he answered, ‘because while you are pulling the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’”

The Parable of the Weeds Explained
Matthew 13:36-43 NIV

36 Then he left the crowd and went into the house. His disciples came to him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.”

37 He answered, “The one who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man. 38 The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the people of the kingdom. The weeds are the people of the evil one, 39 and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels.

40 “As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. 41 The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. 42 They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears, let them hear.
