Christ’s Sacrifice Once for All

10 The old system under the law of Moses was only a shadow, a dim preview of the good things to come, not the good things themselves. The sacrifices under that system were repeated again and again, year after year, but they were never able to provide perfect cleansing for those who came to worship. 2 If they could have provided perfect cleansing, the sacrifices would have stopped, for the worshipers would have been purified once for all time, and their feelings of guilt would have disappeared.

3 But instead, those sacrifices actually reminded them of their sins year after year. 4 For it is not possible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. 5 That is why, when Christ came into the world, he said to God,

“You did not want animal sacrifices or sin offerings. But you have given me a body to offer.

6 You were not pleased with burnt offerings or other offerings for sin. 7 Then I said, ‘Look, I have come to do your will, O God—as is written about me in the Scriptures.’”

8 First, Christ said, “You did not want animal sacrifices or sin offerings or burnt offerings or other offerings for sin, nor were you pleased with them” (though they are required by the law of Moses). 9 Then he said, “Look, I have come to do your will.” He cancels the first covenant in order to put the second into effect. 10 For God’s will was for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all time.

11 Under the old covenant, the priest stands and ministers before the altar day after day, offering the same sacrifices again and again, which can never take away sins. 12 But our High Priest offered himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time. Then he sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand. 13 There he waits until his enemies are humbled and made a footstool under his feet. 14 For by that one offering he forever made perfect those who are being made holy.

15 And the Holy Spirit also testifies that this is so. For he says,

16 “This is the new covenant I will make with my people on that day, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.”

17 Then he says,

“I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds.”

18 And when sins have been forgiven, there is no need to offer any more sacrifices.

A Call to Persevere

19 And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. 20 By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. 21 And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, 22 let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.

23 Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. 24 Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. 25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

26 Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins. 27 There is only the terrible expectation of God’s judgment and the raging fire that will consume his enemies. 28 For anyone who refused to obey the law of Moses was put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 Just think how much worse the punishment will be for those who have trampled on the Son of God, and have treated the blood of the covenant, which made us holy, as if it were common and unholy, and have insulted and disdained the Holy Spirit who brings God’s mercy to us. 30 For we know the one who said,

“I will take revenge. I will pay them back.”

He also said,

“The Lord will judge his own people.”

31 It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

32 Think back on those early days when you first learned about Christ. Remember how you remained faithful even though it meant terrible suffering. 33 Sometimes you were exposed to public ridicule and were beaten, and sometimes you helped others who were suffering the same things. 34 You suffered along with those who were thrown into jail, and when all you owned was taken from you, you accepted it with joy. You knew there were better things waiting for you that will last forever.

35 So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! 36 Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.

37 “For in just a little while, the Coming One will come and not delay. 38 And my righteous ones will live by faith. But I will take no pleasure in anyone who turns away.”

39 But we are not like those who turn away from God to their own destruction. We are the faithful ones, whose souls will be saved.

Christ Is Our High Priest

1 Here is the main point: We have a High Priest who sat down in the place of honor beside the throne of the majestic God in heaven. 2 There he ministers in the heavenly Tabernacle, the true place of worship that was built by the Lord and not by human hands.

3 And since every high priest is required to offer gifts and sacrifices, our High Priest must make an offering, too. 4 If he were here on earth, he would not even be a priest, since there already are priests who offer the gifts required by the law. 5 They serve in a system of worship that is only a copy, a shadow of the real one in heaven. For when Moses was getting ready to build the Tabernacle, God gave him this warning: “Be sure that you make everything according to the pattern I have shown you here on the mountain.”

6 But now Jesus, our High Priest, has been given a ministry that is far superior to the old priesthood, for he is the one who mediates for us a far better covenant with God, based on better promises.

7 If the first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no need for a second covenant to replace it. 8 But when God found fault with the people, he said:

“The day is coming, says the Lord,

when I will make a new covenant

with the people of Israel and Judah.

9 This covenant will not be like the one

I made with their ancestors

when I took them by the hand

and led them out of the land of Egypt.

They did not remain faithful to my covenant,

so I turned my back on them, says the Lord.

10 But this is the new covenant I will make

with the people of Israel on that day, says the Lord:

I will put my laws in their minds,

and I will write them on their hearts.

I will be their God,

and they will be my people.

11 And they will not need to teach their neighbors,

nor will they need to teach their relatives,

saying, ‘You should know the Lord.’

For everyone, from the least to the greatest,

will know me already.

12 And I will forgive their wickedness,

and I will never again remember their sins.”

13 When God speaks of a “new” covenant, it means he has made the first one obsolete. It is now out of date and will soon disappear.

Old Rules about Worship

9 That first covenant between God and Israel had regulations for worship and a place of worship here on earth. 2 There were two rooms in that Tabernacle. In the first room were a lampstand, a table, and sacred loaves of bread on the table. This room was called the Holy Place. 3 Then there was a curtain, and behind the curtain was the second room called the Most Holy Place. 4 In that room were a gold incense altar and a wooden chest called the Ark of the Covenant, which was covered with gold on all sides. Inside the Ark were a gold jar containing manna, Aaron’s staff that sprouted leaves, and the stone tablets of the covenant. 5 Above the Ark were the cherubim of divine glory, whose wings stretched out over the Ark’s cover, the place of atonement. But we cannot explain these things in detail now.

6 When these things were all in place, the priests regularly entered the first room as they performed their religious duties. 7 But only the high priest ever entered the Most Holy Place, and only once a year. And he always offered blood for his own sins and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance. 8 By these regulations the Holy Spirit revealed that the entrance to the Most Holy Place was not freely open as long as the Tabernacle and the system it represented were still in use.

9 This is an illustration pointing to the present time. For the gifts and sacrifices that the priests offer are not able to cleanse the consciences of the people who bring them. 10 For that old system deals only with food and drink and various cleansing ceremonies—physical regulations that were in effect only until a better system could be established.

Christ Is the Perfect Sacrifice

11 So Christ has now become the High Priest over all the good things that have come. He has entered that greater, more perfect Tabernacle in heaven, which was not made by human hands and is not part of this created world. 12 With his own blood—not the blood of goats and calves—he entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our redemption forever.

13 Under the old system, the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a young cow could cleanse people’s bodies from ceremonial impurity. 14 Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God. For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ offered himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins. 15 That is why he is the one who mediates a new covenant between God and people, so that all who are called can receive the eternal inheritance God has promised them. For Christ died to set them free from the penalty of the sins they had committed under that first covenant.

16 Now when someone leaves a will, it is necessary to prove that the person who made it is dead. 17 The will goes into effect only after the person’s death. While the person who made it is still alive, the will cannot be put into effect.

18 That is why even the first covenant was put into effect with the blood of an animal. 19 For after Moses had read each of God’s commandments to all the people, he took the blood of calves and goats, along with water, and sprinkled both the book of God’s law and all the people, using hyssop branches and scarlet wool. 20 Then he said, “This blood confirms the covenant God has made with you.” 21 And in the same way, he sprinkled blood on the Tabernacle and on everything used for worship. 22 In fact, according to the law of Moses, nearly everything was purified with blood. For without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness.

23 That is why the Tabernacle and everything in it, which were copies of things in heaven, had to be purified by the blood of animals. But the real things in heaven had to be purified with far better sacrifices than the blood of animals.

24 For Christ did not enter into a holy place made with human hands, which was only a copy of the true one in heaven. He entered into heaven itself to appear now before God on our behalf. 25 And he did not enter heaven to offer himself again and again, like the high priest here on earth who enters the Most Holy Place year after year with the blood of an animal. 26 If that had been necessary, Christ would have had to die again and again, ever since the world began. But now, once for all time, he has appeared at the end of the age to remove sin by his own death as a sacrifice.

27 And just as each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment, 28 so also Christ died once for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people. He will come again, not to deal with our sins, but to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for him.

What I mean by SUPPORT you, I do not necessarily mean financially. I am referring to MORAL and EMOTIONAL SUPPORT. When the people you surround yourself with support and encourage you in all of your endeavors, your dreams, and your goals. Also, being able to see your FULL POTENTIAL and supporting you in achieving that in this lifetime.

I am a bachelorette by choice, still enjoying my singledom so that when my twinflame comes into my life, I will have no reservations about making a lifelong commitment and totally appreciate their companionship. Only a loving person — one who is already loving — can find the right partner.

This is my observation: if you are unhappy you will find somebody who is unhappy. Unhappy people are attracted towards unhappy people. And it is good, it is natural. It is good that the unhappy people are not attracted towards happy people; otherwise they would destroy their happiness. It is perfectly okay.

Only happy people are attracted towards happy people.

The same attracts the same. Intelligent people are attracted towards intelligent people; stupid people are attracted towards stupid people.

You meet people of the same plane.

So the first thing to remember is: a relationship is bound to be bitter if it has grown out of unhappiness. First be happy, be joyful, be celebrating, and then you will find some other soul celebrating and there will be a meeting of two dancing souls and a great dance will arise out of it.

The need to be loved is childish, immature. The need to love is mature.

Don’t ask for a relationship out of loneliness, no. Then you are moving in a wrong direction. Then the other will be used as a means and the other will use you as a means. And nobody wants to be used as a means! Every single individual is an end unto himself. It is immoral to use anybody as a means.

First learn how to be alone. Meditation is a way of being alone.

If you can be happy when you are alone, you have learned the secret of being happy. Now you can be happy together. If you are happy, then you have something to share, to give. And when you give you get; it is not the other way. Then a need arises to love somebody.

Ordinarily the need is to be loved by somebody. It is a wrong need. It is a childish need; you are not mature. It is a child’s attitude.

A child is born. Of course, the child cannot love the mother; he does not know what love is and he does not know who is the mother and who is the father. He is totally helpless. His being is still to be integrated; he is not one piece; he is not together yet. He is just a possibility. The mother has to love, the father has to love, the family has to shower love on the child. Now he learns one thing: that everybody has to love him. He never learns that he has to love. Now the child will grow, and if he remains stuck with this attitude that everybody has to love him, he will suffer his whole life. His body has grown, but his mind has remained immature.

A mature person is one who comes to know the other need: that now I have to love somebody.

The need to be loved is childish, immature. The need to love is mature.

And when you are ready to love somebody, a beautiful relationship will arise; otherwise not.

I teach you that the first and foremost thing is to be loving towards yourself. Don’t be hard; be soft. Care about yourself. Learn how to forgive yourself — again and again and again — seven times, seventy-seven times, seven hundred seventy-seven times. Learn how to forgive yourself. Don’t be hard; don’t be antagonistic towards yourself. Then you will flower.

In that flowering you will attract some other flower. It is natural. Stones attract stones; flowers attract flowers. Then there is a relationship which has grace, which has beauty, which has a benediction in it.

If you can find such a relationship, your relationship will grow into prayer; your love will become an ecstasy and through love you will know what the divine is.

92.3 FM Listeners Want Art Laboe Back. NOW!

Sunday night passed without any 'oldies but goodies' spun on LA's 92.3 FM radio station. No love zone dedications could be heard. Art Laboe's familiar, iconic Hall of Fame voice didn't soothe through speakers to his faithful, multi-generational audience. In another sudden format flip, Real 92.3 took over the frequency leaving Laboe and Old School music without a home in Los Angeles.

And listeners are really pissed. Some are even calling for a boycott of the new station. Others are signing an online petition demanding the return of Hot 92.3FM radio personalities and its playlist.

The change came early Friday morning. Real 92.3 FM kicked off its debut of mainstream hip-hop and R&B playing "10,000 joints in a row" commercial-free. iHeartMedia's Doc Wynter is the new program director and promises big things.

"The all-new Real 92.3 will be LA's new home for REAL Hip Hop and R&B --it's what LA listeners have been waiting for," he said in a press statement. Too bad the Weekly heard the same boring corporate hip-hop song playing on Real 92.3 and Power 106 at the same time while cruising around over the weekend. Oh joy!

Cindy Garcia started a Change.org petition begging to differ with Wynter. "There are several stations in Los Angeles that dominate the crowd The Real 92.3 aims to target," it reads. "Let's show iHeart Radio and Doc Wynter that Los Angeles wants their old school music back on the air. Our days with Jimmy Reyes, Josefa, Rene, Art Laboe, and the rest of the crew, were robbed from Angelenos."

The petition is steady at more than 3 thousand signatures since beginning on Friday. A boycott flyer states that the new owners "think that Old School and Chicano Music are irrelevant to their demographics" in asking people to join the tune out.

Laboe is still syndicated six nights a week in other markets, but Los Angeles is where the legend cemented his lore. And the Weekly got excited that his Hot 92.3 presented Chicano Soul Legends concert finally made its way to the Honda Center this year with other Old School shows seeming primed to set up shop there.

"Being a part of the Hot 92.3 programming for so many years afforded The Art Laboe Connection the opportunity to work with some of the best and most talented industry professionals," Laboe says with class in a press release. "We wish the best of luck to the new format and to all those that were let go to make way for Real 92.3." The station had been home for Laboe's show since 1997 when it was Jammin Oldies 100.3 FM. Three years later the frequency switched places with 92.3 FM.

His office acknowledges the response of dedicated fans. "The outpouring of emotions from our listeners has been tremendous and speaks to the power of music and Art's connection with his audience," adds Joanna Morones of Dart Entertainment.

The 89-year-old host wants to keep going and is exploring options with iHeartMedia and other radio stations to return to LA airwaves. It probably won't happen before Valentine's Day this weekend. Apocalypto Trailer And I Share A Facebook Exchange I Had Regarding This Movie.

I watched Apocalypto on IFC last night after my friend brought it up on Facebook earlier in the day. I haven't seen this movie in ages. Mel Gibson did such an amazing job writing and directing this film. But it's been hard to watch again. I read about real stories like this daily that are still happening today. This is not fiction.

I really needed this message. Here I feel like I've been going through hell for a while now and I'm being reminded what this poor young warrior goes through in this film. Watching him persevere and survive the psychopath sadistic tribe gives me much inspiration. He's fighting a real test of endurance in body, mind and spirit.

I'd like to share the exchange I had with one of Karina's fb friends after she posted she was watching the movie.

Pablo: Apocalypto did a disservice to the Indigenous peoples. it wasn't an authentic representation, it was criticized for that heavily by Native Americans cultural anthropologists and historians alike. Mel Gibson sought to depict the Mayans in the most blood thirstiest light he could muster, as the backdrop against which to deliver his subliminal message at the very end, when the protagonist are saved by the arrival of the apparently civilizing influence of the Christian Cross and its emissaries. The message is that the new world was a place of Godless savagery and should be grateful for the salvation heralded by the arrival of Saintly Spain. Mel is a certain kind of religious nut/zealot he practices an ultra orthodox form of Roman Catholicism that rejects all the post Vatican II changes. And he works those beliefs and world views into his films.

Shannon: It was made by Mel Gibson. I always assumed it was a load of white washed hog shit. Mel Gibson makes me embarrassed to be white.

Josette (Me): I thought Mel Gibson did an amazing job with this movie. Since the beginning of time, there have always been good harmonious tribes and bad evil sadistic tribes. Just as there are good harmonious people and bad evil sadistic people around the world today.

Mel didn't depict the Spaniards as "saviors". Watch it again. The poor guy (main character) escaped from the psycho sadistic tribe, made it to the coast and what does he see??? A foreign psycho sadistic tribe showing up, symbolizing this poor guys nightmare hasn't ended.

Reseach humanities ancient ancestors the hunters and gatherers. There were good harmonious tribes and theiving tribes causing misery and horrors.

Phoenix: that movie was disturbing. but, so is life in this day and age. it seems that people are not evolving.

Josette: Phoenix unfortunately, that is part of the human condition.

Pablo: Josette the movie was mass marketed as an authentic depiction yet: he conflated Aztec Sacrifice with Mayan rituals,: "Gibson seems to have researched anything the Maya might have done badly over a thousand year history and crammed it all into a few horrific days. How would the gringos look if we made a film that lumped together within one week the torture at the Abu Ghraib and Guatanamo prisons, the Tuskegee experiments, KKK lynchings, the battle at Wounded Knee, Japanese internment camps, the Trail of Tears, the Salem witch hunts, Texas death row executions, the Rodney King police beatings, the slaughter upon the Gettysburg battlefield, and the nuclear bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki - and made this look like a definitive statement on U.S. culture?"

Josette: Pablo Mel did not conflate anything. He showed the harsh reality tribes endured during that time period. Just like the Commanches in North America and other bloodthirsty tribes that massacred other tribes for land here before and during the arrival of the "white tribes" escaping religious persecution in England.

Pablo: Josette as a horror movie, as a great edge of your seat suspense thriller it can have an A+. I also love and have a great appreciation for dated cowboy flicks in all seriousness I love John Wayne flicks, But I dont receive those as history. I think the great failure of this movie is in its attempt to capture a history, without being able to shake of its creator's bias.

Josette: Pablo did you know that African tribes sold their people to Europeans into slavery? The African tribes were land hungry too. They would sell off the people from the other African tribes they stole land from.

Did you know Black free people in the South OWNED Black slaves in America and AFTER the Emanicipation Proclamation, those Black slave owners did not bother to tell their Black slaves they were legally freed and kept them enslaved?

Did you know the South slave plantation owners both White and Black were democrats and fought to keep the freed Blacks from equal rights?

Did you know the KKK were and still are democrats?

Just to name a few things.

Pablo: Josette I also have a great appreciation for the history of the Pilgrims and Puritans who founded this country and their quest for religious freedoms that we enjoy to this day, I would never frame the debate in terms of white tribes or black tribes as you are doing, but just what happens between civilizations with different levels of technology when they meet, always the superior subjects the inferior and these are universal human truths we should only hope do not extend to superior alien or artificial intelligence should we ever come across them least not we also be subjected, and that if that were to happen they would please I beg of them when they told our stories to not jumble them all up in stereotypical fashions but for integrity and posterity and as a memorial to our culture and civilizations once we are all long gone to please tell our stories accurately with respect to us the by then dead and fallen, if its not to much to ask for, I mean or just label it clearly as a fictionalized sensationalist biased account if that's what the thing is to be, cause I love my horror flicks, but I watch those with horror hat on.

Of course every race on earth has held slaves and some of the earliest Euro Settlers arrived as indentured servants who served a term of 7 years to buy their own freedom back. Yes Blacks were essential in the slave trade capturing people and selling them to the Portuguese and all that. I haven't said anything about race, but I have said alot about Religion, Civilization, Culture, and Ideaolgy.

There are two important points in this section. The first is that the Spirit is a gift, given freely. All that is necessary is for us to allow him in. The second point is that he is the gift of both God the Father and God the Son. Jesus promised that after his departure, he and God the Father would send the Holy Spirit to assist the apostles in their mission to spread the message of God. The Holy Spirit is also referred to as the Advocate or the Spirit of truth.

On the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood up and exclaimed, "Let anyone who thirsts come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as scripture says:

'Rivers of living water will flow from within him.'"

He said this in reference to the Spirit that those who came to believe in him were to receive. There was, of course, no Spirit yet, because Jesus had not yet been glorified. (Jn 7:37-39)

"And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always, the Spirit of truth, which the world cannot accept, because it neither sees nor knows it. But you know it, because it remains with you, and will be in you." (Jn 14:16-17)

"When the Advocate comes whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth that proceeds from the Father, he will testify to me. And you also testify, because you have been with me from the beginning." (Jn 15:26-27)

And when he said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the holy Spirit." (Jn 20:22)

In John, the Holy Spirit is given to the apostles shortly after the resurrection. In Luke-Acts, the Holy Spirit was promised shortly after the resurrection, but is not actually given until fifty days after the resurrection, at the event that we call Pentecost. Both writers agree, however, about what the Spirit is, and what he represents.

You are witnesses of these things. And [behold] I am sending the promise of my Father upon you; but stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high." (Lk 24:48-49)

In the first book, Theophilus, I dealt with all that Jesus did and taught until the day he was taken up, after giving instructions through the holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen. He presented himself alive to them by many proofs after he had suffered, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God. While meeting with them, he enjoined them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for "the promise of the Father about which you have heard me seek; for John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the holy Spirit." ...

"But you will receive power when the holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." (Acts 1:1-5,8)

When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim.

Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven staying in Jerusalem. At this sound, they gathered in a large crowd, but they were confused because each one heard them speaking in his own language. They were astounded, and in amazement they asked, "Are not all these people who are speaking Galileans? Then how does each of us hear them in his own native language?" (Acts 2:1-8)

The gift of the Holy Spirit did not end with the apostles. God continues to give out the Holy Spirit as the church grows in Acts.

While Peter was still speaking these things, the holy Spirit fell upon all who were listening to the word. The circumcised believers who had accompanied Peter were astounded that the gift of the holy Spirit should have been poured out on the Gentiles also, for they could hear them speaking in tongues and glorifying God. Then Peter responded, "Can anyone withhold the water for baptizing these people, who have received the holy Spirit even as we have?" (Acts 10:44-47)

While Apollos was in Corinth, Paul traveled through the interior of the country and came to Ephesus where he found some disciples. He said to them, "Did you receive the holy Spirit when you became believers?" They answered him, "We have never even heard that there is a holy Spirit." He said, "How were you baptized?" They replied, "With the baptism of John." Paul then said, "John baptized with a baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, in Jesus." When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul laid [his] hands on them, the holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied. Altogether there were about twelve men. (Acts 19:1-7)

Peter said to them, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the holy Spirit." (Acts 2:38)

Now when the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent them Peter and John, who went down and prayed for them, that they might receive the holy Spirit, for it had not yet fallen upon any of them; they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then they laid hands on them and they received the holy Spirit.

When Simon saw that the Spirit was conferred by the laying on of the apostles' hands, he offered them money and said, "Give me this power too, so that anyone upon whom I lay my hands may receive the holy Spirit." But Peter said to him, "May your money perish with you, because you thought that you could buy the gift of God with money. You have no share or lot in this matter, for your heart is not upright before God. Repent of this wickedness of yours and pray to the Lord that, if possible, your intention may be forgiven. For I see that you are filled with bitter gall and are in the bonds of iniquity." Simon said in reply, "Pray for me to the Lord, that nothing of what you have said may come upon me." The Holy Spirit and You

The Holy Spirit is a gift of God to you, not just some long-dead prophets, or some far-off saints.

When you feel that you are not up to the task of living the faith, God will give you what you need, if you but ask and allow him to guide you. What you need is the Spirit, who will fill you from within, to make you strong and bring you home.

When you feel empty, ask for the Holy Spirit, and he will fill you.

When you lose sight of truth, ask for the Holy Spirit, and he will guide you.

When you are weak and afraid, ask for the Holy Spirit, and he will give you power.

It is commonly said that God is too distant, too other-worldly for us to be near him. He has shown us that this is not the case. He loves you so, and desires you so, that he fills you from the inside and gives you true life.

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is also known as the Advocate, the Comforter, the Spirit of Truth who Jesus sends to live inside of us, inside our spirit. 27 Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]

28 You heard Me tell you, I am going away and I am coming [back] to you. If you [really] loved Me, you would have been glad, because I am going to the Father; for the Father is greater and mightier than I am.

29 And now I have told you [this] before it occurs, so that when it does take place you may believe and have faith in and rely on Me.

30 I will not talk with you much more, for the evil prince, ruler of the world (mundane) is coming. And he has no claim on Me. [He has nothing in common with Me; there is nothing in Me that belongs to him, and he has no power over Me.]

31 But [Satan is coming and] I do as the Father has commanded Me, so that the world may know (be convinced) that I love the Father and that I do only what the Father has instructed Me to do. [I act in full agreement with His orders.] Rise, let us go away from here.
