A major cocaine operation that plagued 5th and Cornwall in Philadelphia has been broken up after a yearlong investigation.

The city announced charges for 21 people on Friday.

"This criminal enterprise is responsible for supplying the Philadelphia region with cocaine, crack cocaine as well as marijuana," Attorney General Dave Sunday said.

Authorities are still looking for the ringleader and four others but say they have 16 people in custody. All arrests were made on Thursday as well as the confiscation of 19 guns, 12 kilos of cocaine, 50 pounds of marijuana and $275,000 cash.

Police say the group operated primarily out of 5th and Cornwall.

"Well, it did start as a street level location," Philadelphia Police Deputy Commissioner, James Kelly, said. "It's been a problematic location for decades.

Jimme Torres is the ringleader, according to officials, and they say he's lived in both Philadelphia and Puerto Rico. Police are also looking for four other suspects who they identified as Miguel Nazario, Myron Booker, Javier Rodriguez, and John Cade.

Police arrested Johnny Bartolomey in his home. According to police, Bartolomey would stash the drugs in his home before it was distributed around the city.

Assisting in the investigation, search and arrest efforts this week were: Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, Philadelphia Police Department, Philadelphia Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, Pennsylvania State Police, Bensalem Police Department, and Bristol Township Police Department, Liberty Mid-Atlantic HIDTA, and law enforcement partners in New Jersey.

”The takedown of the 5th and Cornwall Drug Trafficking Organization is proof that when we work together, we get the job done," Philadelphia Sheriff Rochelle Bilal said. "Our residents deserve safe neighborhoods. Today, we showed that together anything is possible when the goal is protecting and serving all our communities.”

The cases will be prosecuted by Deputy Attorney General Catherine Pirolli.
