NORWOOD, Bronx -- Several teenagers were arrested and charged with murder Wednesday after a teen was killed and another was injured in a stabbing at a playground in the Bronx.

Authorities say a large brawl broke out in retaliation for a previous dispute at the Williamsbridge Oval Playground around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers found a 17-year-old with stab wounds to his stomach and shoulder and 14-year-old Angel Mendoza with multiple wounds throughout his body.

Mendoza was also hit numerous times with a skateboard.

Both teens were rushed to the hospital, where Mendoza died from his injuries. The 17-year-old is reported to be stable.

Police say multiple teens were fighting for about 15 minutes in the park. Several knives were recovered in the search for evidence.

Detectives believe at least seven teens were involved in the fight.

Police announced the arrests of four teens, including 18-year-old Andrew Ansah, 18-year-old Jordan Williams, a 16-year-old boy and 15-year-old boy. They have all been charged with murder, manslaughter, two counts of gang assault and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

Mendoza's father spoke with Eyewitness News and said his son was a good kid who was running with a bad crowd.

He said his son was a quiet kid who didn't bother anyone. He came to the U.S. from the Dominican Republic 10 years ago.

His father said they fought and argued about it many times and he tried taking away his phone when he wasn't going to school.

People who live in the area said they were surprised to hear about the stabbings and described the park as a safe area.

"Usually in this park I don't hear of stabbings like that. So I was surprised," a witness told Eyewitness News. "This is like a family park with a bunch of kids running around-- camps, activities, elderly activities. It's pretty much a safe park."

ELMHURST, Queens -- A teen is in custody after another teen was stabbed multiple times in Queens on Thursday.

Police responded to 86-55 Broadway in Elmhurst just after 2 p.m. for reports of a person stabbed.

Officers found a 14-year-old boy with multiple stab wounds to the face, arm and hands at the location.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident was between two students. They say it started at a charter school, with one student chasing the other.

They say the 14-year-old was stabbed by the other student with a knife outside a chicken restaurant.

"I saw two kids running across the street, one chasing him, and the next thing I see them on a corner. One kept stabbing him, and he ran," said an employee of the chicken restaurant, Nick Zarmai.

Surveillance video showed the victim inside the restaurant asking for help. Zarmai described how he came to the victim's aid.

"He was scared, shaking, so I put him down, gave him water, tried to hold his patches. I mean, the stab wounds so he wouldn't bleed, until the ambulance came," Zarmai said.

The victim was transported by EMS to Elmhurst Hospital where he's recovering from non-life-threatening injuries.

A 14-year-old boy was taken into custody, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing.
