Los Angeles firefighters quickly gained control of a small brush fire burning near Coldwater Canyon Park in the Studio City area on Saturday afternoon.

It was first reported at around 4:10 p.m. in the 3100 block of N. Coldwater Canyon Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

"Due to the terrain and isolated area, a significant number of resources are enroute to assist," said a release from LAFD officials.

About 30 minutes later, they reported that crews were able to stop forward progress of the flames, which had burned between one and two acres near the Betty Dearing Trail.

"No structures damaged and no injuries reported," LAFD said. Crews were expected to remain in the area to mop up any hot spots.

A man was briefly detained near the spot where the fire broke out, police said. He was released after questioning.

STUDIO CITY, LOS ANGELES -- Firefighters worked Saturday from the air and on the ground to contain a small brush fire in the Studio City area of Los Angeles.

The Coldwater Fire was reported at 3:36 p.m. Saturday in the 3100 block of South Coldwater Canyon Avenue, south of Mulholland Drive, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.

Forward progress was stopped at 4:42 p.m., with the fire held to about two remote acres in or near Fryman Canyon Park.

"Los Angeles County Fire Department camp crews are responding to assist with the mop up operations," Stewart said. "No structures damaged and no injuries reported. Firefighters will be on scene for an extended period, ensuring no hot spots remain in the isolated terrain."

One man was detained in the area of the fire, but he was questioned and released, according to Los Angeles Police Department Officer Jeff Lee.

Officials said it was determined the man was not involved in the brush fire, though he was cited for an unrelated incident.

TreePeople manages the property where the fire broke out. The area is owned by the City of Los Angeles.

TreePeople said firefighters responded quickly to prevent the spread.

"It was smoke, and then pretty much within like 20 minutes, we had helicopters dumping water," said Alex Miller with TreePeople. "They are amazing. They were on top of it before it was even a thing. They were here dealing with it, trying to get up here. Yeah, it was managed... We were about to have a concert, and we had to cancel that, unfortunately. But yeah, it only got up to about an acre."

The investigation into the origin of the brush fire is ongoing.
