A Houston Police Department supervisor who was accused of possessing child pornography is now also accused of sexually assaulting a girl nearly 100 times, according to court documents. Investigators believe the sexual assault may have begun when she was as young as 9 years old.

Daryn Edwards, 59, faces three charges, including sexual performance of a child, aggravated sexual assault, and possession of child pornography. He's a 32-year veteran of HPD and served as the captain of the auto theft division.
Court documents said the sexual assault began when the victim was around 9 years old. At that time, the documents said Edwards was molesting her with his hands and mouth. The victim told investigators Edwards started having sex with her when she was about 13 years old. According to the documents, he raped her around 85 to 100 times. It started when they were on a cruise and continued weekly, sometimes twice a day, until she came forward, she told investigators.
The majority of these incidents happened in League City, the court documents say.
Additionally, the documents claimed Edwards would send sexually explicit messages to the girl via Snapchat and Instagram. He's accused of asking and bribing the girl to send him nude pictures of herself, which court documents said she agreed to do to keep him from becoming upset. She told investigators Edwards said he had a hidden folder of her inappropriate pictures, which he said he would use to "ruin her life with them."
The girl also told investigators she had found hidden cameras in her bedroom that he had admitted to her that he put there.
The League City Police Department obtained a warrant and seized Edwards' personal and work cell phones. On it, court documents said investigators found videos that appeared to be from a hidden camera setup. Detectives determined the videos to have been taken in the victim's bedroom.
Texts between Edwards' phone and the victim's phone reveal Edwards had given her specific instructions on how to set up a hidden camera and instructed her to invite her boyfriend over for sex in view of the camera, the documents say. She was 15 years old at the time of this incident.
Edwards was first arrested on the child pornography charge on Feb. 19. He was arrested for a second time on Feb. 20 for the sexual performance of a child and aggravated sexual assault charge. Edwards is being held at the Galveston County Jail without bond.
Earlier this week, HPD posted on social media that Edwards has been relieved of duty pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
