A now-former Pennsylvania State University professor accused of performing sexual acts with his dog in a public forest was arrested on Tuesday and subsequently hit with a slew of charges including open lewdness, indecent exposure, sexual intercourse with an animal, animal cruelty, and disorderly conduct.

Themis Matsoukas, 64, was spotted on trail cams in Rothrock State Forest naked with his collie as early as 2014, with the latest incident taking place this year. The acts were caught by surveillance cameras.

According to FOX43, the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources rangers launched an investigation in April after a trail cam set up by the park captured footage of a man engaging in lewd behavior with a collie near a restroom in the Alan Seeger Parking Area and trying to film it on an iPad. Rangers explained that the area was within viewing distance of a road used by visitors to access a picnic area and campgrounds.

While rangers were unable to put a name to the man in April, Matsoukas returned to the same area in May and was identified via his Subaru, which matched a vehicle spotted in previous videos.

Investigators recovered trail cam footage from as early as 2014 showing Matsoukas walking around camp naked from the waist down with his collie in tow, carrying an iPad and wearing a black ski mask.

As WTAJ reports, in one of the videos Matsoukas was allegedly spotted leaving the restroom naked with the dog before masturbating and letting it lick his anus while he filmed on his iPad at various angles. ๐Ÿคข

After Matsoukas was idenfitied as the suspect, police obtained a search warrant for his vehicle and home, and paid him a visit. He was described as "very nervous," telling officers, "I'm done, I'm dead," and begging them to just shoot him. "I do it to blow off steam," Matsoukas said, according to police.

Following his arrest, Penn State announced that the chemical engineering professor of 30 years had been "relieved of his responsibilities and is on leave." His hearing has been scheduled for July 19.

HUNTINGDON COUNTY, Pa. — A State College man is facing charges after being accused of committing lewd acts with his dog at Rothrock State Forest, according to court documents.

Court documents show that 64-year-old Themis Matsoukas is facing charges of open lewdness, indecent exposure, sexual intercourse with an animal, animal cruelty, and disorderly conduct

According to the criminal complaint, state park rangers viewed video from outside one of the park’s restrooms on April 13 that allegedly involved Matsoukas, who they couldn’t identify at the time, with his dog.

Contents of the video prompted investigators to make contact with two camp owners who had trail cams in the area. The photos from the two showed a man later identified by police as Matsoukas, naked from the waist down other than his socks and shoes. The first photo was reportedly snapped in 2014 with the last two of the six being taken in April of this year.

On May 16, park rangers allegedly caught Matsoukas on a DNCR trail camera again at the parking lot and were able to track him down by his green Subaru Outback, noting that his license photo with the DMV matched the photos from the other trail cams, the complaint reads

A search warrant was executed at Matsoukas’ home where investigators were looking for a silver iPad that may have been used at the park on April 13th. It was noted in the criminal complaint that Matsoukas appeared nervous when they arrived at his home, saying ‘I’m done, I’m dead. You don’t understand, I do it to blow off steam.”

According to the complaint, police found a total of three iPads, one of which Matsoukas allegedly said was his Penn State work tablet but not used on April 13.

Video from a trail camera set up to catch people stealing bags of hand sanitizer from the bathrooms showed Matsoukas and his dog on April 13.

Matsoukas had allegedly left the restroom in the parking area with his dog and was naked. Wearing only a black ski mask, backpack, and hiking boots, Matsoukas allegedly began to masturbate while filming himself on one of the previously mentioned iPads.

Different videos captured that same day during the incident allegedly showed Matsoukas moving his iPad to various spots and positions. At one point, investigators said he began to rub his chest and masturbate. He then bent over and pulled the dog’s leash, getting the dog to lick his anus while he continued.

Matsoukas has a hearing scheduled for July 19.
