The man accused of holding a woman hostage and torturing her for 15 hours in unincorporated Boca Raton was ordered to be held without bond Thursday morning.
Tzvi Allswang, 20, is charged with six different felonies, including attempted murder.
He appeared in court wearing a helmet to protect his injuries after he was shot in the head by a Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputy Saturday morning.
Court documents released Thursday provide details of the horrors the victim endured during her ordeal.
The woman’s name has not been released, but an affidavit of probable cause identified her as a social worker who went to Allswang’s home on Larkspur Trail for a 6:30 appointment Friday evening.
The woman said she’d met with Allswang 4 or 5 times, and there had always been other people around.
She said when she arrived at the home, she saw other cars in the driveway and thought she wouldn’t be alone with Allswang.
She said it wasn’t unusual for her to not see those people during her appointments with him.
However, the affidavit quotes the woman as telling police the nightmare began as she tried to leave the home after the appointment.
“Suddenly she was grabbed around her chest in a bear hug by Tzvi and he was telling her that she could not leave,” the affidavit said. “Tzvi eventually bound her hands together as if she was praying behind her back with duct tape.”
The affidavit goes on to say Allswang took the woman’s phone and placed it “in airplane mode and wrapped her phone in aluminum foil and duct tape to prevent communication.”
It said the only time Allswang turned the phone on was to send text messages to the victim’s girlfriend, telling her first that she had been pulled over by police and later that police were taking her to a hotel for the evening.
The affidavit includes details of the 15 hours of assaults, both beatings and sexual assaults.
“She thought on several occasions that he was going to kill her,” the affidavit said.
The woman’s family reported her missing, and at 9:30 Saturday morning, deputies broke down the door and found Allswang in a closet, holding the woman at knifepoint.
The affidavit quotes the victim as telling investigators, “Tzvi did not respond or comply with their orders (to drop the knife) and eventually she heard one loud gunshot and then the knife was no longer to her throat.”

A Boca Raton man accused of kidnapping his therapist and sexually assaulting her for hours had previously been accused of raping another woman years earlier.
But he was sentenced to only probation.
Twenty-year-old Tzvi Allswang is currently in the Palm Beach County Jail, charged with attempted murder and multiple counts of sexual assault.
According to a police report, Allswang met his therapist at his home in early July and kidnapped her as she tried to leave.
He’s accused of torturing and assaulting her for hours until sheriff’s deputies broke into the house, shot Allswang and arrested him.
It’s a crime that stunned the entire community. But fewer people were more stunned than Glenn Roderman.
“I was amazed,” Roderman said. “I must have misread this kid.”
Roderman is an attorney who in 2019, represented a 15-year-old girl who accused Allswang of coming to her home and sexually assaulting her.
The alleged incident happened when Allswang was 16 years old.
Roderman is one of two attorneys who filed a petition on behalf of the victim, asking the court to protect her from Allswang.
The petition said Allswang “began kissing and groping” the victim and “later committed sexual battery.”
It goes on to graphically describe how Allswang raped her. Allswang never went to jail.
“It was an isolated incident, we thought,” Roderman said.
Because of Allswang’s age and the fact he had never been in trouble with the law, Roderman and the prosecutor agreed to ask the judge to go easy on Allswang.
“We would agree to probation with the special conditions that he undergo an evaluation and any kind of follow-up treatment,” Roderman said.
Not only did the judge agree, but Roderman said the victim’s family also agreed with Allswang only receiving probation.
Roderman said the victim’s mother called him after Allswang’s recent arrest.
“She just wondered maybe we should have been more harsh with him at the time,” Roderman said of the conversation. “Maybe we should have dealt with him differently. Maybe he should have been treated as an adult.”
Roderman said it’s hard not to agree after hearing what Allswang is now accused of doing.
“I was somewhat shocked because I felt wow, we gave this kid a break. And look what happens,” Roderman said. “This kid commits an atrocious, heinous crime.”
Allswang is currently being held without bond.

WARNING: This story contains information some may find disturbing.
Tzvi Allswang, 20, is charged with holding his therapist hostage for 15 hours in his parents' Boca Raton home, repeatedly sexually battering and torturing her, until deputies broke in and shot him in the head while he held at her knifepoint.
According to a 2019 offense report, Allswang had a history of sexual offenses.
A 15-year-old girl said then-16-year-old Allswang, a boy she’d never talked to except on social media, asked if he could come over to watch Netflix, the report said.
The girl said she wanted him to meet her mother, but he came after the mother had to leave to see a friend.
She said Tzvi asked “if he should bring a condom, to which she replied 'no, I do not want to have sex.'"
The girl's mother left to go to the movies and what followed was a night of repeated sexual battery despite the girl’s protests.
The report says within 40 minutes of “hanging out,” Tzvi forced the girl to perform sex acts and “slapped her face and asked if she liked it.”
Then he raped her, and when she “told him to stop because the pain is too intense,” he stopped but forced her into another sex act until the girl threw up.
The girl's mother came home to find her daughter washing her comforter, and when the mom took her phone, she found she was searching “rape websites.”
The mother insisted she take her to the hospital the next day, and detectives got involved, eventually obtaining Tzvi’s Snapchat messages which included the girl telling him the next morning she was angry, saying:
Girl: “I did not want to have sex u knew though beforehand."
Tzvi: "I thought you changed your mind, are you gonna tell your mom."
But the girl did tell her mom and detectives, and Tsvi pleaded guilty to lewd and lascivious battery, but because of his age and having no prior record, both sides agreed to a sentence of probation -- something the girl’s lawyer said he and the girls mother now wonder was correct.
“She just wondered maybe we should have been more harsh with him at the time," said attorney Glenn Rodeman. "Maybe we should have dealt with him differently. Maybe he should have been treated as an adult.”
Allswang faces charges of kidnapping, attempted murder and sexual assault.
