UKRAINE: Zelensky, The Man Who Sold Ukraine. Russia Understood Zelensky's Remark In Munich As A Threat By Ukraine To Acquire Nuclear Weapons, Rejection Of Minsk, Militarily Hostile Toward Russia

Volodymyr Zelensky is the current President of Ukraine. He was elected in a landslide victory in 2019 on the promise of easing tensions with Russia and resolving the crisis in the breakaway republics in east Ukraine. He has made no attempt to keep his word on either issue. Instead, he has greatly exacerbated Ukraine’s internal crisis while relentlessly provoking Russia. Zelensky has had numerous opportunities to smooth things over with Moscow and prevent the outbreak of hostilities. Instead, he has consistently made matters worse by blindly following Washington’s directives.

Zelensky has been lionized in the west and praised for his personal bravery. But—as a practical matter—he has failed to restore national unity or implement the crucial peace accord that is the only path to reconciliation. The Ukrainian president doesn’t like the so-called Minsk Protocol and has refused to meet its basic requirements. As a result, the ethnically-charged, fratricidal war that has engulfed Ukraine for the last 8 years, continues to this day with no end in sight. President Vladimir Putin referred to Zelensky’s obstinance in a recent speech delivered at the Kremlin. He said:

Most Americans fail to realize that Zelensky’s rejection of Minsk was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Russian officials had worked for 8 years on Minsk hammering out terms that would be agreeable to all parties. Then—at the eleventh hour—Zelensky put the kibosh on the deal with a wave of the hand. Why? Who told Zelensky to scrap the agreement? Washington?

Of course.

And why did Zelensky deploy 60,000 combat troops to the area just beyond the Line of Contact (in east Ukraine) where they could lob mortal shells into the towns and villages of the ethnic Russians who lived there? Clearly, the message this sent to the people was that an invasion was imminent and that they should either flee their homes immediately or take shelter in their cellars. What objective did Zelensky hope to achieve by forcing these people to huddle in their homes in fear for their lives? And what message did he intend to send to Moscow whose leaders looked on at these developments in absolute horror?

Did he know his actions would set off alarms in Russia forcing Putin to call up his military and prepare them for a possible invasion to protect his people from– what looked to be– a massive ethnic cleansing operation?

He did.

So, how are these actions consistent with Zelensky’s campaign promises to restore national unity and peacefully resolve Ukraine’s issues with Russia?
Imagine the scenario if this were United States and Mexico or United States and Canada. Mexico and Canada are our neighboring countries. If Mexico or Canada began hostilities with the United States, we would no doubt see that as a threat. Or if Mexico or Canada started killing Americans in their countries or Mexicans and Canadians who supported the US, we would take that as a hostile threat. Well, that is what's happening in Ukraine. They're massacring Ukrainians who speak Russian and Ukrainians who love Russia. Plus, Zelensky has been militarily hostile toward Russia deliberately instigating a war with Russia. (emphasis mine)
They’re not consistent at all, they are polar opposites. In fact, Zelenskyy appears to be operating off a different script altogether. Take, for example, his complete unwillingness to address Russia’s minimal security concerns. Did Zelensky know that Putin had repeatedly said that Ukraine’s membership in NATO was a “red line” for Russia? Did he know that Putin has been saying the same thing over-and-over again since 2014? Did he know that Putin warned that if Ukraine took steps to join NATO, Russia would be forced to take “military-technical” measures to ensure their own security? Does Zelensky know that NATO is Washington-controlled Alliance that has engaged in numerous acts of aggression against other sovereign states. Here’s a short list of NATO’s accomplishments:
  1. The destruction of Yugoslavia
  2. The destruction of Afghanistan
  3. The destruction of Libya
  4. The destruction of Iraq The destruction of Syria
Does Zelensky know that NATO is openly hostile to Russia and regards Russia a serious threat to its expansionist ambitions?

Yes, he knows all these things. Still, he publicly expressed his interest in developing nuclear weapons. What is that all about? Imagine the problem that would pose for Russia. Imagine if a US-backed puppet, like Zelensky, had nuclear missiles at his fingertips. How do you think that might impact Russia’s security? Do you think Putin could ignore a development like that and still fulfill his duty to protect the Russian people?

And why did Zelenskyy agree to allow shipment after shipment of lethal weaponry to be delivered to Ukraine if he sincerely sought peace with Russia? Did he think that Putin was too stupid to see what was going on right beneath his nose? Did he think he was normalizing relations by expanding his arsenal, threatening his own people, and jumping through whatever hoops Washington set out for him?

Or did he think that Putin’s requests for security assurances were unreasonable? Is that it? Did he think– that if the shoe was on the other foot– the US would allow Mexico to put military bases, artillery pieces and missile sites along America’s southern border? Is there any president in American history who wouldn’t have done the same thing that Putin did? Is there any president in American history who wouldn’t have launched a preemptive strike on those Mexican weapons and vaporized every living thing for a 20-mile radius?

No, Putin’s demands were entirely reasonable, but Zelenskyy shrugged them off anyway. Why?

Does Zelenskyy know that there are Right Sektor, neo-Nazis in the government, military and Security Services. Does he know that, while their numbers are small, they are a force to be reckoned with and factor heavily in the hatred and persecution of ethnic Russians? Does he know that these far-right elements participate in torchlight parades, imprint swastikas or SS tattoos on their arms, and revere the racialist ideology of Adolph Hitler? Does he realize that many these Nazis have engaged in criminal acts of brutality including the incinerating of 40 civilians at the Trade Union Building in Odessa in 2014? Does he think that the CIA’s covert programs to arm and train these right-wing militants builds confidence or does he think it reminds Moscow of a catastrophic war in which 27 million Russians were exterminated by Germany’s Wehrmacht?

Can you see how everything Zelensky has done, was done with the intention of provoking Russia?

All the talk of joining NATO, all the talk about building nukes, the steady buildup of lethal weaponry, the movement of troops to the east, the refusal to implement the Minsk Treaty and the rejection of Putin’s security demands. All of these were deliberate provocations. But, why? Why “bait the bear”; that’s the question?

Because Washington wants to lure Russia into a war so it can further demonize Putin, isolate Russia, launch a counterinsurgency operation against the Russian army, and impose harsh economic sanctions that will inflict maximum damage on the Russian economy. That’s Washington’s strategy in a nutshell, and Zelenskyy is helping Washington achieve its objectives. He’s allowing himself to be Washington’s tool. He is sacrificing his own country to advance the interests of the United States.

All this helps to underscore a point that is never considered by the media and never discussed by the pundits on cable news, that is, that Ukraine is going to lose the war, and Zelenskyy knows it. He knows the Ukrainian Armed Forces are no match for the Russian army. It is like a Giant swatting a fly. Ukraine is the fly. The public needs to hear this, but they’re not hearing it. Instead, they’re hearing blabber about heroic Ukrainians fighting the Russian invader. But this is nonsense, dangerous nonsense that is emboldening people to sacrifice their lives for a lost cause. The outcome of this conflict has never been in doubt: Ukraine is going to lose. That is certain. And, if you read between the lines, you’ll see that Russia is winning the war quite handily; they are crushing the Ukrainian army at every turn, and they will continue to crush them until Ukraine surrenders. Check out this brief interview with Colonel Douglas MacGregor on Tucker Carlson and you’ll understand what’s really going on:

Colonel McGregor: “Well, the first 5 days, we saw a very slow methodical movement of Russian forces entering Ukraine…. They moved slowly and cautiously and tried to reduce casualties among the civilian population, trying to give the Ukrainian forces the opportunity to surrender. That is over. And the phase in which we find ourselves now, Russian forces have maneuvered to encircle and surround the remaining Ukrainian forces and destroy them through a series of massive rocket artillery strikes, air strikes with Russian armor slowly-but-surely closing the distance and annihilating what’s left. So, this is the beginning of the end of the Ukrainian resistance.

Tucker: What is Putin’s goal here?”

Colonel McGregor: “Putin set out to honor his word from 2007 at the Munich Security Conference where he said ‘We will not allow the expansion of NATO to a point where NATO is touching our border, specifically, Ukraine and Georgia. We see these as Trojan Horses for NATO’s military power and US influence... He repeated that (warning) over and over and over again, in the hopes that he could avoid taking action to effectively clean-out eastern Ukraine of any opposition forces whatever, and to put his forces in a position vis-a-vis NATO to deter us from any further attempts to influence or change Ukraine into a platform for the projection of US and western power into Russia.

Now his goal–as of today– is to seize this whole area of eastern Ukraine (east of the Dneiper River) and he has has crossed the river where he is preparing to go in and capture that city (of Kiev) entirely.

At that point, Putin has to decide what else he wants to do. I don’t think he wants to go any further west. But he would like to know that whatever emerges from this as Ukraine… is “neutral” not-aligned and, preferably, friendly to Moscow. That he will accept. Anything short of that, and his war has been a waste of time.”(“Colonel Douglas MacGregor with Tucker Carlson”, Rumble)

What can we deduce from this short interview:
  1. Russia will prevail and Ukraine will lose.
  2. Ukraine is going to be partitioned. Putin is going to create the buffer he needs to assure his country’s security.
  3. Whoever governs the western part of Ukraine will be required to declare their “neutrality” (in writing) and reject any offers for NATO membership. If they violate that promise, they will be removed by force.
But here’s the important thing: All of the main actors in this fiasco knew from the very beginning that Ukraine had no chance of defeating the Russian army. That was a foregone conclusion. So–what we want to know– is why Zelenskyy didn’t take steps to avoid the tragedy before it unfolded?

The answer to this question helps to reveal ‘who Zelenskyy really is’.

Ask yourself this: Why didn’t Zelenskyy negotiate with Putin when he had the chance? Why didn’t he pull back his 60,000 troops from the east? Why didn’t he stop Washington’s weapons shipments? Why didn’t he implement the Minsk Treaty? Why didn’t he reject NATO’s offer for membership?

Finally, why was so intent on doing the things that he knew would anger Moscow and increase the likelihood of a war?

These questions are not hard to answer.

Zelenskyy has been acting on orders from Washington from the get-go. We know that. He’s also been implementing Washington’s agenda not his own and certainly not Ukraine’s. We know that, too. But that does not absolve him from responsibility. After all, he is a full-grown adult capable of distinguishing between right from wrong. He knows what he’s doing, and he knows that it’s wrong; worse than wrong, it’s inexcusable. He’s sending men to die in a war he knows they can’t win; he’s inflicting incalculable suffering and injury on his own people for no reason at all; and –worst of all– he’s cleared the way for the dissolution of Ukraine itself, the country he was sworn to defend. That country is going to be broken into bits as part of a final settlement with Russia, and Zelenskyy will share a good part of the blame.

How does a man like this live with himself?

The U.S. embassy in Kyiv called on Dec. 29 for Ukraine to speed up with the selection of the Specialized Anti-corruption Prosecutor (SAP). It called via twitter for the SAP selection commission members “to return to work, respect their own procedures and do what’s right for the Ukrainian people by certifying their own SAP selection”. It also called to “not allow corrupt external forces to block the work” that the commission was entrusted to finish. The same day, U.K. ambassador to Ukraine Melinda Simmons tweeted that the continued delay in appointing a SAP “is avoidable bad news for Ukraine”. She also called the selection committee members to “finally certify the winner and help strengthen this vital independent anticorruption institution.”

Recall, on Dec. 21, the selection commission failed to officially appoint Oleksandr Klymenko, who gained most points in the selection process, as the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor. At the meeting, the simple voting to approve the results of the selection process did not gain enough votes due to stubborn resistance on the part of the commission members to raise their hands. The commission’s next meeting on Dec. 24 yielded the same voting result. Klymenko, who is a detective of the Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), is not a comfortable candidate for the Ukrainian president and his entourage. Klymenko was a member of the NABU team that investigated the corruption of Oleh Tatarov, who is the deputy head of the office of President Zelensky.

The NGO Anticorruption Action Center (AntAC) wrote on Dec. 29 that the government is trying to undermine the results of the SAP selection. In particular, the General Prosecutor’s Office has re-launched a special vetting of Andriy Syniuk, the SAP candidate who ranked second by the selection commission and who is “controlled” by Zelensky's entourage, according to the AntAC. The Center stressed that the illegality of such re-vetting was confirmed by the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption, and that the selection process winner Klymenko refused to be re-vetted (all the SAP candidates underwent a standard vetting procedure in spring). If Klymenko gives permission for the re-vetting, he could fail to be re-vetted due to artificial barriers, the AntAC explained.

Alexander Paraschiy: The pressure from the U.S. and U.K. embassies is not working – Zelensky’s entourage is doing everything to appoint Syniuk as the specialized anticorruption prosecutor. Such stubborn attempts confirm that Syniuk is a comfortable prosecutor for Zelensky. If so, Ukraine’s entire anti-corruption infrastructure won’t work independently. Perhaps the only way to influence this process is direct talks by top Western officials with Zelensky on this issue.

Clearly, for Zelensky it is much more comfortable to execute his power (which goes beyond the constitution, which stipulates Ukraine is a parliamentary-presidential republic, meaning that the parliament is the first) with use of corrupt ties and means. An independent anti-corruption infrastructure will put this system at risk, meaning that the president’s power will be much weaker. In this sense, Zelensky, who presented himself as a new face in politics, does not differ from the “old politicians” like Poroshenko or Yanukovych. This is perhaps one of the biggest disappointments about Zelensky, and this is what will significantly undermine his chance to be re-elected in 2024.
๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ‘‡ NOW THIS IS TOTALLY INSANE ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿšจ
The past 2 years throughout the covid hysteria and now the situation in Ukraine has exposed so many people. Take for example this article written by Joseph Farah, author, journalist and editor and CEO of Conservative website WND fawning over Zelensky in the absurd. At first I thought it was satire and then realized this is a propaganda fluff piece. I also listen to Conservative talk radio and I'm floored listening to Dennis Prager, author and founder of PragerU, and Dr. Sebastian Gorka, Host of America First and others completely siding with Ukraine and Zelensky and defending this war that Zelensky and the globalist cabal instigated. Congress hasn't approved this Ukrainian war THEY INSTIGATED. According to Senate.gov, "The Constitution grants Congress the sole power to declare war." Biden and Congress are sending corrupt Ukraine tons of military weapons and military vehicles PLUS billions of our dollars in the worst time of our economy. I'm really struggling with Dennis Prager not seeing the full picture. He is so level headed. I still respect Dennis Prager. The others, I don't know so much. Dr. Sebastian Gorka Hosts a show called "America First" radio program and he didn't think twice when he put America last in his decision to support and defend Ukraine. (emphasis mine)

Exclusive: Joseph Farah likens Ukraine president to biblical heroes like Joshua, David, Samson

"And when the people saw him, they praised their god: for they said, Our god hath delivered into our hands our enemy, and the destroyer of our country, which slew many of us." – Judges 16:24

There's one figure, one star, one man who had some dazzling moments, brilliant opportunities, once-in-a-lift-time, Churchillian occasions in the last two weeks since fighting Vladimir Putin to a standstill in his war against Ukraine.

It's, without a doubt, Volodymyr Zelensky.

He's probably the most popular president since Donald Trump and would win reelection by 90% or more in Ukraine, if Russia doesn't get to rig it, instead of the impressive 72% of the votes he got in 2019. Of course, Zelensky could be dead tomorrow – or the day after.

He's got one more thing going for him – he's Jewish. He's one of the chosen, the few, the selected, proud – you know, one of Abraham's children.

One of his great quotes, addressed to Putin, was: "No bunker can protect you from God."

Zelensky told the Russian tyrant that Thursday after Russian forces targeted the Cathedral of the Assumption in its assault on Kharkiv, according to Ukrayinska Pravda.

"It is a holy place," Zelensky said. "Now, wrecked by the war. Even this does not deter them! They count on the fact that God's retribution isn't instant. But He sees. And answers. You cannot hide from His answers. No bunker can protect you from God's answers."

President Zelensky is the real deal for this moment, a charismatic wordsmith when too many are trying NOT to tell it like it is. He's got courage with a capital C.

Zelensky escaped assassination three times last week – all foiled by "antiwar elements within Russia's Federal Security Service" who gave intel about the plans to Ukrainian officials, says the president.

Zelensky is becoming a modern-day folk hero, a rock star and a guy at the right place at the right time – providing hope for his 40 million Ukrainian people – not to mention the whole world.

The U.S. had offered to evacuate the Ukrainian president but it was flatly declined, with Zelensky saying that he needed "ammunition, not a ride," multiple sources reported, affirming that his fight "is here."

He's funny, quotable, young and a Hebrew warrior – just what we needed for a time such as this.

On Friday, he said this: "The invaders, they could turn off our television to Ukrainians, our connection. They thought they could take away products, shut off the electricity. They thought it would force Ukrainians to submit. But even if you deprive of us oxygen, we will breathe deeply to say, 'Get off our land.'"

He had an "ordinary Soviet Jewish upbringing." Zelensky told The Times of Israel in early 2020, on the eve of visiting Israel to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, that his family was typical of Soviet Jews in the 1980s when he was growing up. That meant, he said, that they were not religious, because "religion didn't exist in the Soviet state as such."

Indeed, Jewish observance was illegal, and Jews were routinely spied upon, although many did preserve some elements of their Jewish identity as acts of resistance. If that was the case in Zelensky's family, he hasn't said so.

"I never speak about religion, and I never speak about God because I have my own personal opinion about it," he said in the interview. "Of course, I believe in God. But I speak with him only in those moments which are personal for me."

As with most Ukrainian Jews, the Holocaust is part of his story. Zelensky has said that his great-grandfather and three of his grandfather's brothers died as a result of the Nazi invasion of Ukrainian territory. His grandfather and his grandfather's brothers took up arms against the Nazis in the Red Army. His grandfather was the only one to survive. He did not specify whether they died in combat or in the extended massacre of more than 1 million Ukrainian Jews that the Nazis carried out, often with local collaboration. His grandmother survived because she left Kryvyi Rih for Kazakhstan. Almost all of the Jews who remained were murdered. A Holocaust memorial not far from his parents' home in Kryvyi Rih was defaced in January 2020.

Where did Zelensky get his moral compass? He credits his Jewish parents. Zelensky's father, Oleksander, is a mathematician who heads a university computer science department; his mother, Rimma, was an engineer for many years. He said in a 2018 interview, shortly before officially running for president, that because of them, he is unable to accept lies.

"I always react painfully to lies," he said. "This is the main feature that my parents gave me."

He has many personal ties to Israel. Zelensky has said he has relatives who moved to Israel in the 1990s, during the wave of Jewish emigration from the newly dissolved Soviet Union. He has also conducted business there as an actor and comedian and performed in venues throughout the country. As Ukrainian president, he has visited just once, for the Holocaust commemoration shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic began.

"I know Israel," he said in The Times of Israel interview. "I know people there."

He's a family man, married for nearly 20 years, he's the father of two children. Zelensky dated his wife, Olena, for eight years before they married in September 2003. Their daughter, Oleksandra, was born the following year, and they had a son, Kyrylo, in 2013.

Zelensky got a scholarship to study in Israel but didn't go. He studied law in Ukraine instead.

He became an acting star on the political satire TV show "Servant of the People," playing a history teacher so outraged by government corruption that he runs for president — and stuns the country and himself by winning. The show aired on Ukrainian television from 2015 to 2019, its final episode launching just weeks before Zelensky was himself elected president.

"I'm such a guy that if I get involved in a battle, I usually don't get out of it. I can lose, but go out in the middle of it … no," he said. "The white flag is not our flag!"

"I've always thought he is a person who has a profound sense of right and wrong," said a senior adviser to Zelensky. "He will never acquiesce when he thinks something is wrong." When asked by the reporter for a Washington Post whether he believed Zelensky was prepared to die. "The adviser answered without hesitation: 'Yes.'"

Now Israel may take a hand in negotiating with Russia – or Gog and Magog.

Zelensky is one for the history books – or maybe the Bible.

Don't count him out! A sterling resume – just 44 years old. A game-changer – like David, Joshua, Joseph, Gideon, Samson, Nehemiah. It all depends whether you bet on Putin of the Ukrainian kid.

God bless him – a true super-hero overnight … and from the lost house of Israel!

Pray for him. Pray for his wife – his children. Pray for Ukraine.

An official of the U.S.-led NATO alliance has told Newsweek that the coalition did not notice what appeared to be a symbol associated with Nazism on the uniform of a Ukrainian soldier featured in a since-deleted photo on NATO's official Twitter account.

The image, posted Tuesday to commemorate International Women's Day, contained four images related to the current crisis in Ukraine, where a Russian military incursion was set to enter its third week.

"All women and girls must live free and equal. This international women's day we think of the remarkable women of #Ukraine," NATO tweeted alongside a Ukrainian flag emoji. "Their strength, bravery and resilience are symbolic of the spirit of their nation #IWD2022."

The first of the four images included what appeared to be a Ukrainian servicemember bearing a "Black Sun" on the chest area of her military fatigues. The symbol, also known in German as "Schwarze Sonne" or "Sonnenrad," is rooted in Nazi occultism and has been brandished by far-right elements across the globe, including in Ukraine, where it is featured on the official logo of the National Guard's Azov Regiment.

The image first appeared to be shared on social media on February 14 by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and was later syndicated by a number of outlets and agencies, and was featured prominently on the front page of The Guardian the following day. The symbol itself, however, is not readily visible, as it is nearly the same color as the green camouflage of the soldier's uniform.

Shortly after NATO shared the image, the symbol was noted by a number of social media users and then taken down swiftly.

Reached for comment, a NATO official said the post was removed after the alliance first noticed the symbol.

"As part of an International Women's Day collage for social media, we posted an image from stock footage of an international agency," a NATO official told Newsweek. "The post was removed when we realised it contained a symbol that we could not verify as official."

Now back to Ukraine and the big question: Why is Russia doing this?

----------

Khreshchatyk is the main street of Kiev. The above and other threats to Zelensky certainly helped to convert him from peacemaker to warmonger and friend of the various 'ultranational' militia formations.

In spring 2021 Zelensky announced that the Ukraine would retake Crimea by force. Russia then held large military maneuvers and Zelensky backed down. By November 2021 the Ukraine again made noise and said it would be retaking Donbas by force. Russia again held military maneuvers as a show of force but this time the situation deteriorated further.

Starting in mid February the OSCE observers around Donbas noted in their daily reports a strong increase in ceasefire violation and explosions.

Most of the violations came from the Ukrainian site and the explosions of the fired shells and missile happened on Donbas held grounds. On February 19, at the hight of the fire, Zelensky gave a speech at the Munich Security Conference. He prominently mentioned the Budapest Memorandum under which the Ukraine had given up the nuclear weapons it had inherited from the USSR*:
Since 2014, Ukraine has tried three times to convene consultations with the guarantor states of the Budapest Memorandum. Three times without success. Today Ukraine will do it for the fourth time. I, as President, will do this for the first time. But both Ukraine and I are doing this for the last time. I am initiating consultations in the framework of the Budapest Memorandum. The Minister of Foreign Affairs was commissioned to convene them. If they do not happen again or their results do not guarantee security for our country, Ukraine will have every right to believe that the Budapest Memorandum is not working and all the package decisions of 1994 are in doubt.
One of the package decision Ukraine took in 1994 was the entering of Ukraine into the Treaty on Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.

Russia understood Zelensky's remark in Munich as a threat by Ukraine to acquire nuclear weapons. It already has the expertise, materials and means to do that.

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ‘‰ A fascist controlled government with nukes on Russia's border? This is not about Putin at all. No Russian government of any kind could ever condone that. ๐Ÿ‘ˆ๐Ÿšจ

I believe that this credible threat, together with the artillery preparations for a new war on Donbas, was what convinced Russia's government to intervene by force.

On February 22 Russia recognized the Donbas republics as independent states. On February 24 Russian troops crossed the borders into the Ukraine.

The aim set for the Russian military is to de-militarize the Ukraine and to de-nazify it.

The first is easy to understand. The Russian military will simple destroy or disable all heavy weapons the Ukraine has.

The second aim requires more explanation than the above interview with Dmytro Yarosh.

As the Grayzone notes:
In November 2021, one of Ukraine’s most prominent ultra-nationalist militiamen, Dmytro Yarosh, announced that he had been appointed as an advisor to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Yarosh is an avowed follower of the Nazi collaborator Bandera who led Right Sector from 2013 to 2015, vowing to lead the “de-Russification” of Ukraine.
The threats from the fascists make it impossible for any Ukrainian politician to implement a sane policy that would lead to peace in the country.

The fascists in Ukraine are relatively few. But they have the guns and they will kill anyone who opposes them and their aims. They have been put into important state positions. (Besides that oligarchs like Kolomoyskyy pay and use them for their own purposes.)

The problem is that such ideological groups, once firmly established, tend to grow. The Right Sector is holding 'patriotic' summer camps for young Ukrainians and the Ukrainian state is financing those. They are successful and Ukrainian youths is looking up to them.

These developments are what Russia is afraid off. As Patrick Armstrong wrote at the start of the current intervention:
What [Putin] is talking about is what the Soviet Union tried to do from 1933 onwards: namely to stop Hitler before he got started. This time Russia is able to do it by itself. In other words, Putin feels that he is making a pre-emptive attack to stop June 1941. This is very serious indeed and indicates that the Russians are going to keep going until they feel that they can safely stop.
The Russian military will destroy the militia formations like the Right Sector and the Azov battalion which is currently holding the people of Mariupol as hostages. It will try to get all their leaders - dead or alive.

When the task is done the Russian military will leave the Ukraine.

Being freed from powerful fascists will enable Ukrainian politicians to re-institute sane policies.

That's the plan.

But will it work?

That is probably the wrong question. One should ask to what degree and for how long will it work.

After Ukraine's independence it took the 'ultranationalists' 22 years, and the help of the CIA, to come to power. Once eliminated they may claw back, but it will take them some time. The Ukraine will be busy with reviving its economy. It will have little money to spend on arms.

Thirty years later Russia may see a repeat of the confrontation. But 30 years are quite a long time.

UPDATE 3/13/22 at 1:50pm: Added info below.
Ukraine PM Zelensky and the globalist depopulation cabal DELIBERATELY PROVOKED Russia. Not the other way around. NATO now says Ukraine never had a chance of becoming a NATO member. Well, why the hell didn't they say that in December 2021 or January 2022? Instead they and the US, EU openly defiantly REJECTED Russia's request not to consider Ukraine for membership. The same with asshole Zelensky. NATO made it sound like Ukraine was being seriously considered for membership. Now stupid Zelensky is nonchalantly shrugging off NATO request saying he's lost in interest AFTER he himself caused this situation in Ukraine. Zelensky is SOLELY RESPONSIBLE for what's happening in Ukraine after he crossed the red line and now is acting like a victim. If Russia wanted Ukraine, they would have already taken it. The conquest would have already been done. (emphasis mine)
