PM Mark Rutte is to offer his resignation to the king following a scandal about tax authorities' over-zealous pursuit of particularly migrant families over non-existent benefit fraud.
The current cabinet will nevertheless continue in place as an acting cabinet until a new government is formed.

It drove some to financial ruin, divorce. 11,000 dual nationals were singled out for special scrutiny https://t.co/cC1o46LsMv
This is being being praised abroad as a politician taking responsibility, while it's quite widely seen in the Netherlands as almost the opposite: a canny move to take the heat out of an issue by a man who fully intends to return as PM of the next government.

I swear to god if Mark Rutte committed a murder and had to hand himself in at the police station, all he would have to do is take his bicycle, and people would focus on how he cycled to the appointment.

So according to the MSM, cutting child benefits after wrongly accusing their families of tax fraud is a scandal but the same gov. who provided direct support to Jabhat al Shamiya in #Syria that's on the Dutch terrorist list is not a scandal? #MarkRuttehttps://t.co/oMJgkt0W3f

Not only that, PM Mark Rutte has personally tried to stop an investigation into Dutch support for the terrorists in #Syria.
