The government-initiated cleanup drive in Manila Bay has produced 45 tons of garbage, according to Darlene Cay's report on Unang Balita on Thursday.
Thousands of volunteers participated in the drive spearheaded by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
The cleanup drive last Sunday kickstarted the rehabilitation of the bay notorious for its pollution and foul smell.
Residents interviewed noted an improvement in the smell following the collection of garbage.
Photos by local tourists showing the immediate results of the "Save Manila Bay" project have become viral on social media.
