Jakarta - The National Narcotics Agency, or BNN, and police have killed one and captured three suspected drug dealers during an operation in Langkat, Aceh, and Medan, North Sumatra, officials said on Tuesday (27/02).

During the operation, the police seized 15,53 kilograms of methamphetamine and nearly 80,000 ecstasy pills, BNN enforcement deputy Insp. Gen. Arman Depari said.

The drugs were smuggled from Malaysia.

Three suspects were arrested in Medan, the fourth was shot dead as he run away to Aceh.

"Amri [the fourth suspect] was trying to escape and attacked the police," BNN director Brig. Gen. Anjan Pramuka Putra said, adding that the suspect was shot as he fired on police officers.

BNN received information from the Malaysian police about a drug smuggling attempt on the sea route from Malaysia to Medan, Anjan said.

Law enforcers pursued the suspects as they were trying to transport their contraband from Medan to Aceh.
