The name Baphomet originally comes from the name Mahomet and was used by the Knights Templar of the Middle Ages and the Ophites of Islam whose doctrines and teachings many of the Knights secretly followed. The Knights Templar greeted Baphomet with cries of ‘Yallah’. aka 'Allah'.
Whilst many people may associate Gnosticism with a form of Hebrew beliefs, there was also a branch of Gnostics that adapted Islamic teachings into their own religious system.
The Ophites believed that the serpent gave Adam and Eve ‘The Knowledge’ – Gnosticism and the Gnostic Ophites of Islam took this one step further, combining Islamic teachings with their own.
The Baphomet has the head of a goat. The torch between the horns represents knowledge but also the symbolic expulsion of physical sins from the body. The human hands of Baphomet show the goodness of physical work. Pointed above and below are two crescent moons, the upper one white and the lower one black, representing good and evil, mercy and justice. The veiled organs of generation are a representation of the mystery of creation.
Baphomet is a term originally used to describe an idol or other deity that the Knights Templar were accused of worshiping, and subsequently incorporated into disparate occult and mystical traditions. It appeared as a term for a pagan idol in trial transcripts of the Inquisition of the Knights Templar in the early 14th century. The name first came into popular English usage in the 19th century, with debate and speculation on the reasons for the suppression of the Templars.
Since 1856, the name Baphomet has been associated with a "Sabbatic Goat" image drawn by Eliphas Lévi, which contains binary elements representing the "sum total of the universe" (e.g. male and female, good and evil, etc.). However, Baphomet has been connected with Satanism as well, primarily due to the adoption of it as a symbol by the Church of Satan.
The name Baphomet appeared in July 1098 in a letter by the crusader Anselm of Ribemont:
As the next day dawned, they called loudly upon Baphometh ; and we prayed silently in our hearts to God, then we attacked and forced all of them outside the city walls.
The Baphometh goat's head represents the devil's pentagram.
According to Anton Lavey, the Templars worshipped Baphomet as a symbol of Satan. Baphomet is prominently present during in Church of Satan rituals as the symbol is placed above the ritualistic altar.
In The Satanic Bible, Lavey describes the symbol of Baphomet:
“The symbol of Baphomet was used by the Knights Templar to represent Satan. Through the ages this symbol has been called by many different names. Among these are: The Goat of Mendes, The Goat of a Thousand Young, The Black Goat, The Judas Goat, and perhaps the most appropriately, The Scapegoat.
Baphomet represents the Powers of Darkness combined with the generative fertility of the goat. In its “pure” form the pentagram is shown encompassing the figure of a man in the five points of the star – three points up, two pointing down – symbolizing man’s spiritual nature. In Satanism the pentagram is also used, but since Satanism represents the carnal instincts of man, or the opposite of spiritual nature, the pentagram is inverted to perfectly accommodate the head of the goat – its horns, representing duality, thrust upwards in defiance; the other three points inverted, or the trinity denied. The Hebraic figures around the outer circle of the symbol which stem from the magical teachings of the Kabala, spell out “Leviathan”, the serpent of the watery abyss, and identified with Satan. SHRINERS (Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine):
Every Shriner has said their initiation oath has actually confessed an oath to Allah which is the great Shahada, or confession which all Muslims declare daily. You have now denied the Lord Jesus Christ by confessing Allah to be god and none other. Jesus in Islam is only a prophet who is lesser than Muhammad. In fact, a High Priest, tells them, “By the existence of Allah and the creed of Mohammed; by the legendary sanctity of our Tabernacle at Mecca, we greet you.” Look at this oath:
"I do hereby, upon this Bible, and on the mysterious legend of the Koran, and its dedication to the Mohammedan faith, promise and swear and vow … that I will never reveal any secret part or portion whatsoever of the ceremonies … and now upon this sacred book, by the sincerity of a Moslem's oath I here register this irrevocable vow … in willful violation whereof may I incur the fearful penalty of having my eyeballs pierced to the center with a three-edged blade, my feet flayed and I be forced to walk the hot sands upon the sterile shores of the Red Sea until the flaming sun shall strike me with livid plague, and may Allah, the god of Arab, Moslem and Mohammedan, the god of our fathers, support me to the entire fulfillment of the same. Amen. Amen. Amen."
If you were a Christian, I say were because you can not be one now, you have denied the One True God of the Bible, denied Jesus, and affirmed your allegiance to Muhammad even though you had your bible there as a show toy.
Being that we have already shown the Shriners to be bonded with Islam, it is easy to see the crescent moon and star of Islam represented in the Shriner emblem on the left.Notice also the head of the sphinx, which show s a creeping on oof Egyptian mythology. The sword is the scimitar, which Muhammad and his band of raping and pillaging men used to cut the head off of any person who would not submit to Allah. The little red hat, known as a fez, originated in Fez, Morocco where Muslims, in the 8th century, murdered every person who refused to bow their knee to Allah and Muhammad. They dipped their hats in the blood and proudly wore them as symbols of victory. When a Shriner wears this, he mocks those who refused to bow down to the false god of Islam. Further, the first Shriner temple was named Mecca back in 1872. All Shrines are named after a Muslim or Egytian city or place of worship. Mecca is the holy city of Islam and billions of Muslims bow down every day to face Mecca and pray to their false god.
