At least five militants were killed or injured following an explosion in eastern Paktia province of Afghanistan.
The Ministry of Interior (MoI), following a statement said Saturday that the militants were busy with planting improvised explosive device (IED) when the incident took place.
The statement further added that the incident took place late Friday in Ahmad Khel district, leaving two mine planters dead and three others injured.
MoI said Afghan police forces also discovered and seized three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during an operations in Nawa district of Helmand province.
The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the report so far.
Taliban militants and other insurgent groups frequently use improvised explosive device (IED) as the weapon of their choice to target Afghan and coalition security forces.
