Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski thinks the Polish-American alliance is “worthless” and “bullshit,” according to tapes of a private conversation released by Polish magazine Wprost.

“The Polish-American alliance is not worth anything. It’s even damaging, because it creates a false sense of security in Poland. It’s complete bullshit,” Sikorski says. “We will get a conflict with both Russians and Germans, and we’re going to think that everything is great, because we gave the Americans a blowjob. Suckers. Total suckers.”

The conversation, between Sikorski and former Finance Minister Jacek Rostowski, allegedly took place in the spring of 2014.

Sikorski was nominated for EU foreign policy chief in May and has been a vocal critic of Russian foreign policy, particularly its recent actions in Ukraine. Sikorski himself was instrumental in the Ukraine-EU association agreement that would’ve put Ukraine on the road to EU membership–the agreement former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych didn’t sign, sparking the revolution in March.

The Polish government has neither confirmed nor denied the authenticity of the tapes, although Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that he would not be bullied into firing anyone. “I want to emphasize that people who’ve organized criminal eavesdropping will not dictate to Poland who governs the country and what ministers will be dismissed,” he said Monday.

Sikorski has been frustrated with the United States for years, feeling that Poland’s contributions to the Iraq War went unappreciated. Poland supplied troops, including an elite anti-chemical warfare unit, ships, and administered its own occupation zone, despite widespread opposition at home.

“The Iraq war was a mistake for the US, for US standing in the world, for US authority in the world, for the US military and its finances,” he said in May. “Poland joined the US rather uncritically and enthusiastically and so we now take our own view.”
