BHOPAL - A 12-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped, attacked with an axe and thrown into a 40 feet deep well by three people at Kethokar village, 65 km from Chhatarpur, on Saturday night.
The younger brother of the rape survivor, who saw three perpetrators of the crime dumping the minor into the well, informed villagers about it. The villagers rushed to the site and brought out the grievously injured girl.
Chhatarpur SP Lalit Sakhyawar said, "We have recorded her statement. Senior police officers have been asked to investigate the case." The survivor, who sustained deep wounds on her head, is admitted to district hospital.
Of the three, one suspect identified as Phoolchand, was arrested immediately after a complaint was lodged, police said. The other two Harshyam and Khalak are on the run. Of the three accused, two Phoolchand and Khalak are brothers. All three- aged 20 to 25 -are residents of same village.
