Representative Peter King went on FOX News and said that journalist Glenn Greenwald, and others like him, should be prosecuted for printing classified information.
“I’m talking about Greenwald. Greenwald, not only did he disclose this information, he has said he has names of CIA agents and assets around the world and threatening to disclose that,” King said. “The last time that was done in this country, we saw the CIA station chief murdered in Greece. No right is absolute and even the press has certain restrictions. I think it should be very targeted, very selective and certainly a very rare exception. But in this case, when you have someone who’s disclosed secrets like this and threatens to release more, then to me, yes, there has to be, legal action should be taken against him. This is a very unusual case with life and death implications for Americans.”
Greenwald has refuted that he never threatened to release anything like what Rep. King is saying.
Just watched the King video; everything he said is based on the blatant *lie that I threatened to disclose names of CIA covert agents

Never RT @andylevy When, exactly, did @ggreenwald “threaten to disclose the names of CIA agents and assets,” as @RepPeteKing alleges?
King ranted in the past that it was no big deal that Valerie Plame was outed, but, now, somehow, even if Greenwald had threatened to out anyone, it’s a bad thing.
Rep. Peter King (R-NY): “I think Karl Rove should get a medal. … I really mean that. I think this is much do about nothing, because let’s look at the facts very clearly. . . . Joe Wilson has no right to complain. And I think people like Tim Russert and the others, who gave this guy such a free ride and all the media, they’re the ones to be shot, not Karl Rove.”
(“Scarborough Country,” MSNBC, 7/12/2005).
“If civilians are killed in an attack on a military installation, it is certainly regrettable, but I will not morally blame the IRA for it”
It’s amazing that a man who is wrong so often gets reelected over and over again. King lies in an interview to smear a journalist who he doesn’t like. It doesn’t matter if you like Greenwald or not. He hasn’t threatened to out anyone and doesn’t deserve the vitriol coming from King.
