BRINDISI – Boxes of fruit and vegetables for the animals of the zoo in Naples. Citizens and representatives of animal association “Animalisti in movimento” (translation: Animalists on the move) brought some food to save elephants, zebras and camels, after the alarm raised by zoo staff on food stocks that are about to end.

Vets controlled the state of health of lions, tigers, bears and other guests of Fuorigrotta Zoo. They look good but the future of the 300 animals and 70 employees taking care of them is at risk.

The lease for the emergency administration of Edenlandia by a trustee group after its management company Park and Leisure went belly up in 2011 expires on January 31 and if there is no agreement for the takeover of a new company, all 70 employees will be laid off and the animals’ future put at risk.
