ATHENS VILLAGE, LOS ANGELES (KABC) - Several animals died after a fire broke out at a horse stable in Athens Village on Sunday, officials said.

The fire started around 11:30 p.m. in the 13000 block of Athens Way, near where the 105 and 110 freeways meet. Los Angeles County fire officials said crews were able to put out the blaze in about 20 minutes, but at least three horses and a goat died.

About 50 animals were in the stables at the time of the fire. No humans were injured.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
