PESHAWAR – Security forces killed 40 militants in the Shin Warsak area of South Waziristan Agency near Wana, after the miscreants beheaded two soldiers March 24, officials said.
“A massive operation was launched against the miscreants in Shin Warsak area after the inhumane act of the militants,” Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) said in a March 25 statement.
The local Ahmedzai and Mehsud tribesmen joined the security forces, and the operation destroyed several militant hideouts in Shin Warsak Wana, ISPR said.
"Four soldiers also got martyred during more-than-8-hour-long operation as the miscreants were using children and women as shields, which delayed the operation and resulted in the loss of four soldiers’ lives,” ISPR said. The statement also lauded the support of the local tribesmen.
