KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) -- An Afghan police commander says eight policemen were shot and killed in an attack on a checkpoint in the country's south.
Gen. Nabi Jan Mullahkhail, deputy regional commander in the south, says the police were attacked on Tuesday night near Lashkar Gah in Helmand province. He also says three policemen were wounded in the attack.
Mullahkhail says another policeman who was part of the group manning the checkpoint is missing.
