What a predictable response. Murderous spirits! The Taliban murder innocent men, women and children both muslim and non-muslim regularly whether US troops are there or not. That's all they know. It's up to the Afghanistan people to start treating the Taliban like our street gangs here across the US who do the same.
Pres Obama's entire scripted speech was a joke and extremely misleading. He said we are going to "start" pulling troops now and bring 10,000 home by the end of this year. Then he said and an additional 20,000 will be pulled from Afghanistan by September of 2012 RIGHT BEFORE the next US presidential elections!!! But how many 10s of thousands troops will still remain in Afghanistan? It's all a game.
What's the point in publicly telling our "enemy" (ie; Taliban and Al Qaeda) when we are leaving the region? How stupid. Then I find out after this speech that we are now negotiating with the Taliban. We've been seeking them out and killing for 10 years and now he wants to shake hands?! WTF? We need to get the hell out of there PERIOD!
I tweeted about this statement Pres Obama made. "It's time to FOCUS on nation rebuilding here at home" 2 1/2 YEARS LATER?! Shouldn't that have been his PRIORITY from the get go? Worthless gesture! More meaningless talk. I feel the need to remind the public that what Pres Obama say's and what he does are two different things.
He makes this statement now as our country nose dives into the abyss!!! DUE to his lack of leadership skills.
CBS political hotsheet retweeted Steve Holland from Reuters thoughts about the timing of this speech, "Looks like Chicago big winner from Obama Afgan speech. NATO, G8 summits planned in O's hometown next May."
My fb friend Wali wrote, "In my short life span of 30 or so years, I have learned only one thing from history. If you want to build an empire, don't touch Afghanistan!"
To which I replied, "We're not there to build an empire. Think about it. If that were true we would have started building business' there. We would have started developing. But we're not. Our US government has been literally giving billions of dollars to the Afghan government and their government officials have kept it for themselves. We could have already rebuilt Afghanistan a 1000 times with that huge investment. I think we're there for other reasons, mainly their poppy crop and protecting the petrol oil lines."
The conversation between Wali and I moved into Pakistan. I'd like to share our facebook exchange.
@Wali: Zaman: “Why do we like China? Because they don’t want to make Pakistanis slaves like the Americans do. They just want to do business.”
@Josette (Me): lol "Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive." ~ by Sir Sir Walter John Scott
@Josette: China is a marxist communist nation. I wouldn't deceive yourselves into believing China doesn't have ulterior motives. They still practice slave labor and child slave labor in China, pay poor wages and poor working conditions. I'd be very very careful in who you are calling "friend".
Then @Siraf chimmed in: China is a trusted friend and ally throughout our 60 year history with them. They have never stabbed us in the back.
@Josette: @Siraf, well then what does that say about your government. My grandmother use to always say, "tell me who your friends are and I will tell you who you are."
@Wali: A weak neighbour is better than a far off stranger.
@Josette: That is something that can be changed.
@Wali: Everyone looks in the long run. And in our neighborhood it makes sense to ally with China, Russia Afghanistan and Iran. It doesn't make sense to ally with a charging elephant who might exhaust himself anytime soon. We need the panda and the bear to push back the Cow. The elephant is already history.
@Josette: @Wali, China's economy is just an illusion of grandeur. They've been manipulating their currency which I call funny money and their economic growth has no real substance. I just discovered that China only owns 8% of our national debt and has most of their national financial reserves invested in US asset back funds at least 60%. China also has several highly developed metropolitan cities sitting vacant to make their economy look artificially good. It will all come to a head real soon.
@Siraf: Hey Josette, so are you trying to tell me the Americans are our friends, just like they are the friends of Iraq and Afghanistan?
@Josette: @Siraf, Well I am an American and yes Pakistani's are my friends just like the people in Afghanistan and in Iraq. The people here in America are working hard to change the landscape in Washington and want to get rid of the establishment that is deeply embedded in our government. So far all we've seen is one corrupt government helping another corrupt government and the people there and here are getting royally screwed.
Then @Gohar chimmed in: We love china and china loves us. Thats enough. China is the economic superpower of world in future.
@Josette: @Gohar, China is not the economic superpower once you have pulled the curtain and get the facts about their economic state of affairs. It's like the movie The Wizard of Oz. Everybody was afraid of Oz believing he was a big powerful scary being, but once the curtain was pulled back it was discovered a puny man pretending to be scary using smoke and mirrors and voice changer.
@Wali: Well whats important is that china has the US by its balls as its biggest lender and having largest reserve of US securities. Everyone can pretend that the US has political influnence but we all know from where the strings might be pulled from ;)
@Josette: @Wali, China owns ONLY 8% yeah you read that right 8% of our national debt. That is merely a PINCH on our skin. I posted this info on my blog last night. PLUS, China also has 60% of their financial national reserves invested in US markets. They have most of their eggs in one basket, OURS.

Taliban says U.S. troop plan symbolic, warns of more bloodshed
written by
Thursday June 23, 2011
The Afghan Taliban said on Thursday a U.S. plan to withdraw 10,000 troops from Afghanistan by the end of this year was only symbolic and that more serious steps were needed "to stop this pointless bloodshed".
"Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan once again wants to make it clear that the solution for the Afghan crisis lies in the full withdrawal of all foreign troops immediately and (while) this does not happen, our armed struggle will increase from day to day," the Taliban said in a statement emailed to media.
