Marie SkÅ‚odowska Curie (November 7, 1867 – July 4, 1934) was a physicist and chemist of Polish upbringing and, subsequently, French citizenship. She was a pioneer in the field of radioactivity, the first person honored with two Nobel Prizes, and the first female professor at the University of Paris. Her achievements include the creation of a theory of radioactivity (a term coined by her), techniques for isolating radioactive isotopes, and the discovery of two new elements, polonium and radium. It was also under her personal direction that the world's first studies were conducted into the treatment of neoplasms ("cancers"), using radioactive isotopes. [source: wikipedia]

- Life is not easy for any of us. But what of that? We must have perseverance and above all confidence in ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted for something and that this thing must be attained.

You cannot hope to build a better world without improving the individuals. To that end each of us must work for his own improvement, and at the same time share a general responsibility for all humanity, our particular duty being to aid those to whom we think we can be most useful.
Humanity needs practical (wo)men, who get the most out of their work, and, without forgetting the general good, safeguard their own interests. But humanity also needs dreamers, for whom the disinterested development of an enterprise is so captivating that it becomes impossible for them to devote their care to their own material profit. Without doubt, these dreamers do not deserve wealth, because they do not desire it. Even so, a well-organized society should assure to such workers the efficient means of accomplishing their task, in a life freed from material care and freely consecrated to research.

marie curie was an ethical scientist, not out for mere personal gain, but for the interest of the world, while pursuing her own individual fairy tale. My god she was beautiful and an aneurotypical thinker belonging to that class of individuals who give the world its knowledge and weaponry against the nature of ultimate reality (cancer)and in doing that she died prematurely for the world. What a noble, boble individual indeed. She was a genius, most likely asperger's high functioning autism, or bipolar. Ah, how ignorant the world is about aneurotypical thinkers as Marie Curie, Darwin, Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Einstein and so many others. The world must open its eyes soon. Proust did. He said neurotics have given us everything we have , culture, art, literature, music, the theory of relativity, the clock, poetry, you name it. they have given it to us. May they rest in peace. I am so thankful, and feel so passionate
