RIP Teena Marie (Lady T) Thank You For Blessing Us With Your Musical Talent! You Were A One Of A Kind ORIGINAL! There Will Never Be Another Like You! I Still Can't Believe You Are Gone. :*(

Teena Marie will live on in our hearts thru her
♥ MUSIC ♥
I'm still remembering Teena Marie. I'm grateful that music is universal and knows no bounds. It's really sad that people tried really hard to make you fit in an illusory predetermined niche/stereotype. That has remained the problem with society and that is what we all must fight really hard to push through as Teena Marie did and just be your UNIQUE self by sharing your natural talent. The world will thank you later.

"Out on a Limb" is one of my favorite of her's.

RIP Teena Marie (Lady T) ♥ She passed away this morning at the age of 54. SO YOUNG! Teena Marie is survived by her daughter Alia Rose. I can't even begin to imagine how she must be feeling right now being that I too am an only child. I know that they were very close. I send her daughter my condolences, love and prayers. May God give her daughter the strength that she will need to get through this trying time. Teena Marie is asking those of you closest to her to step up to the plate and watch over her daughter as if she were your own. She will be eternally grateful for this favor you have bestowed unto her.

For the record: Teena Marie was a composer, arranger, singer, musician and trail blazer!

"In 1982, Marie got into a heated legal battle with Motown records over her contract and disagreements about releasing her new material. The scuffle resulted in "The Teena Marie Law" aka "The Brockert Initiative", which makes it illegal for a record company to keep an artist under contract without releasing new material for that artist. In such instances, artists are able to sign and release with another label instead of being held back by an unsupportive one. Teena Marie commented on the law in an LA Times article, saying, "It wasn't something I set out to do. I just wanted to get away from Motown and have a good life. But it helped a lot of people, like Luther Vandross and the Mary Jane Girls, and a lot of different artists, to be able to get out of their contracts." [source: wikipedia]

I just found out that her daughter's birthday is on Christmas day and her mom passed away the morning after. :*(

These are a few of @MsTeenaMarie last tweets on Christmas:

"19 yrs ago today, I was in labor! My heavenly father gave me the most glorious gift I could ever receive. A Baby girl on Christmas!"

"May Gods Light always shine on you and your family! May you have the most joyous Holliday season ever! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!"

"Happy Birthday Baby Jeshua! You fill my Life with Love Always! Thankyou for Being Born!"
