The media fails repeatedly to mention the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 giving the POTUS complete responsibility for immediate action in cleaning up an oil spill.
This reporter has absolutely had it. After listening to the president of the United States give a teleprompter written speech long on personal public relations and short on clear substance. I’m asking you to help me call the media out.
I’ve contacted virtually all members of the media, cable, and print with no result. Possibly my notes have been unread. Even the Orange County Register and the Los Angeles Times Today I start again.
TOPIC: WHY DO YOU FAIL TO MENTION THAT THE POTUS IS ULTIMATELY RESPONSIBLE FOR CLEAN UP OF OIL SPILL? SEE FEDERAL LAW BELOW. PLEASE HELP ME BY DOING SOMETHING THE SAME SO WE CAN SHIFT THE BLAME GAME WHERE IT BELONGS.
CERTAINLY THERE WAS ARE PROBLEMS WITH BP, THE RESULTANT DAMAGE IS BEING CAUSED BY A PRESIDENT INCAPABLE OF TAKING ACTION AND NOT FIT FOR COMMAND. THIS IS DAY 58 WITH NO ACTUAL END IN SIGHT. THANK YOU.
The MEDIA FAILS REPEATEDLY to mention the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 giving the POTUS complete responsibility for IMMEDIATE ACTION IN CLEANING UP AN OIL SPILL. Once again Barack Hussein Obama is derelict in his duty.
OPA, among other things, amended Section 311 of the federal Clean Water Act. Section 311 now provides in part that:
(A) If a discharge, or a substantial threat of a discharge, of oil or a hazardous substance from a vessel, offshore facility, or onshore facility is of such a size or character as to be a substantial threat to the public health or welfare of the United States (including but not limited to fish, shellfish, wildlife, other natural resources, and the public and private beaches and shorelines of the United States), THE PRESIDENT SHALL DIRECT ALL Federal, State, and private actions to remove the discharge or to mitigate or prevent the threat of the discharge.
(B) In carrying out this paragraph, the President may, without regard to any other provision of law governing contracting procedures or employment of personnel by the Federal Government–?(i) remove or arrange for the removal of the discharge, or mitigate or prevent the substantial threat of the discharge; and?(ii) remove and, if necessary, destroy a vessel discharging, or threatening to discharge, by whatever means are available.
