Hi everybody!!! I'm so sorry I made you worry. I'm okay. Let's just say that what the devil meant for evil, God most certainly turned it around for my good. I honestly could not have made it through this period in my life without God's strength, courage and wisdom. I will forever remember May 2010 where I had my faith tested to the fullest, my confidence tested and my strength tested. The dream I had a few months ago that I shared with you when the locust were unleashed came true. The dark forces had no idea who they were messing with... a child of the most High God. I will not be silenced. I AM A VICTOR and not a victim. No weapon formed against me shall prosper.
It all started when I had to refinish my hardwood floors. I won't go into details of why I had to, that's not important. But what is important is my experience. May my experience serve as an example to you that YOU CAN do anything once you set your mind to it and be determined to reach the finish line. I was faced with a decision to make. 1. Do I have new hardwood floors installed in both rooms? or 2. Do I pay someone to refinish my hardwood floors? or 3. Do I refinish the hardwood floors myself? After much research I found out that options 1 and 2 would cost me between $1,500 to $2,000. I had to ask myself did I really want to spend that much. After much thought, the answer was NO. Therefore, I was left with option 3, do the job myself. I watched several how-to refinish hardwood floors internet videos and thought to myself, is that all it takes. So I took up the challenge. I had NEVER refinished hardwood floors mind you.
It was a major job from moving out all of my furniture, preparation, sanding, staining and protective sealer. It all happened so fast, it wasn't until I cleared out the two rooms I realized that I had already disconnected my computer and forgot to leave all of you a note explaining that I would be away for a short time.
At the onset of this ordeal, I experienced the loss of a dearly loved cat who I shared 5 years with. I grieved for a day alone and then had to move on to the project. Just as I was finishing the project on my way to Home Depot to purchase some more paint I had a minor fender bender. I have never before been at fault for a fender bender. When I finally finished my project the water heater had sprung a leak underneath my home and the plumbing had to be replaced in that area. Thank goodness I turned the water heater knob to vacation while I was staying at my mom's house the entire month or else the damage would have been much worse.
In the end, my hardwood floors look sooooo beautiful. I chose a Brazilian cherry stain. I honestly had no idea how grueling the job would be. I just jumpted in. I only had help moving my furniture out and sanding. I did everything else myself including moving my furniture back using sliders. I'm really proud of myself. I did a great job considering I've never done this before. This project took a little longer because I decided to refresh the walls with new paint colors in both the living room and bedroom. It cost me approximately $250 to refinish the hardwood floors which includes the equipment rentals and supplies. The paint and supplies was an additional $100. Total cost for my entire home project: $350. The cost of my time and the experience is priceless. Not to mention my new found talent. I now know why they charge so much for labor. I worked out muscles I never knew I had. Nevertheless, the end result was so worth it and I am completely satisfied with this project. I can now add refinishing hardwood floors to my list of accomplishments.
I've shared pictures of the before and after project with you below. Welcome to my humble abode that I've enjoyed for 11 years. I absolutely love my home even more. I actually feel like I've moved into a new home. I now have a new lease on life.

This perfectly describes what I did this past month sent to me by a good friend. "Bite off more than you can chew, then chew it. Plan more than you can do, then do it. Point your arrow at a star, take your aim and there you are. Arrange more time than you can spare, then spare it. Take on more than you can bear, then bear it."
"There are two ways of meeting difficulties: you alter the difficulties, or you alter yourself to meet them."
