These two squirrels looked like astronauts after putting coconut shells on their heads.

I loved reading this article, it gave me a chuckle. I have a grapefruit tree in my yard. I am unable to reach the grapefruit at the very top of the tree even with an extended ladder. But that's okay because my fury little friends can. While cleaning my yard I'll frequently find an empty grapefruit shell with a hole carved out at the top. At least those grapefruits don't simply rot on the tree, but get consumed by nature. I've often had the pleasure of watching a squirrel peel the grapefruit with its teeth and spit out the skin. Once they've made an opening they dig their little hands in and scoop out the meat from the grapefruit. When their finished, they take off and abandon the shell leaving it as a gift for me. It's their way of saying thank you! L☺L
One afternoon I watched a squirrel that happened to get their hands on a plastic container with peanuts in it. The squirrel carved out a hole, took the peanuts out and began burying each peanut in the ground one at a time. While this one squirrel was working hard burying his/her peanuts, another squirrel was right behind him/her digging the peanut out and eating it. I laughed as I watched, but then thought to myself one squirrel is being smart storing food for later. Meanwhile, the other squirrel was an opportunist and outright stole the extra peanuts from the other squirrel. When the smart squirrel realized the other squirrel had been eating his/her peanuts, s/he began chasing him all over my yard. L☺L I was cracking up watching this squirrel drama unfold right before my eyes. I can see how the writers for cartoons like Chip and Dale got their inspiration from. They had to have been sitting in their yard like me observing these little critters in their natural habitat.

The pair look more like starved spacemen tucking into the tropical treats at the back of Jane Robert's home in Fareham, Hants.
Miss Roberts, 46, leaves out two coconuts a week and suspends them on pieces of string from her washing line and watches her furry friends dig in.
She said: "The first time I saw them feeding I nearly died laughing, they looked like a pair of astronauts and even now I can not stop chuckling every time I see them.
"I make a large hole in the coconut so they can get to the flesh. They cannot get enough of them.
"I worry they might get stuck up there one day but they are clever little things."
