I grew up watching the Golden Girls. I never get tired of the re-runs. I always find myself cracking up as if I was watching an episode for the first time. I always feel comforted when the I hear the opening song "Thank you for being a friend". This series is timeless.
Well I'm posting this video for those of you who have never heard about the Golden Girls. I just heard the sad news that Beatrice 'Bea' Arthur passed away yesterday. Bea, thank YOU for being a friend that touched so many people with the characters you portrayed on television. You will be terribly missed.

Beatrice "Bea" Arthur (May 13, 1922 – April 25, 2009) was an American comedienne, actress, and singer. In a career spanning seven decades, Arthur achieved success as the title character, Maude Findlay, on the 1970s sitcom Maude, and as Dorothy Zbornak on the 1980s sitcom The Golden Girls; she won Emmys for both roles.
