Classic Aesop Fables...

A classic Aesop Fable titled, "The Buffoon and the Countryman".

At a country fair there was a Buffoon who made all the people laugh by imitating the cries of various animals. He finished off by squeaking so like a pig that the spectators thought that he had a porker concealed about him.

But a Countryman who stood by said: "Call that a pig s squeak! Nothing like it. You give me till tomorrow and I will show you what it's like." The audience laughed, but next day, sure enough, the Countryman appeared on the stage, and putting his head down squealed so hideously that the spectators hissed and threw stones at him to make him stop. "You fools!" he cried, "see what you have been hissing," and held up a little pig whose ear he had been pinching to make him utter the squeals.

Men often applaud an imitation and hiss the real thing.

A classic Aesop Fable titled, "The Ass in the Lion's Skin".

AN ASS, having put on the Lion's skin, roamed about in the forest and amused himself by frightening all the foolish animals he met in his wanderings. At last coming upon a Fox, he tried to frighten him also, but the Fox no sooner heard the sound of his voice than he exclaimed, "I might possibly have been frightened myself, if I had not heard your bray."

Clothes may disguise a fool, but his words will give him away

A classic Aesop Fable titled, "The Bear and the Two Travelers".

TWO MEN were traveling together, when a Bear suddenly met them on their path. One of them climbed up quickly into a tree and concealed himself in the branches. The other, seeing that he must be attacked, fell flat on the ground, and when the Bear came up and felt him with his snout, and smelt him all over, he held his breath, and feigned the appearance of death as much as he could. The Bear soon left him, for it is said he will not touch a dead body. When he was quite gone, the other Traveler descended from the tree, and jocularly inquired of his friend what it was the Bear had whispered in his ear. "He gave me this advice," his companion replied. "Never travel with a friend who deserts you at the approach of danger."

Misfortune tests the sincerity of friends.

A classic Aesop Fable titled, "The Ant and the Grasshopper".

In a field one summer's day a Grasshopper was hopping about, chirping and singing to its heart's content. An Ant passed by, bearing along with great toil an ear of corn he was taking to the nest.

"Why not come and chat with me," said the Grasshopper,"instead of toiling and moiling in that way?"

"I am helping to lay up food for the winter," said the Ant,"and recommend you to do the same."

"Why bother about winter?" said the Grasshopper; we have got plenty of food at present." But the Ant went on its way and continued its toil. When the winter came the Grasshopper had no food and found itself dying of hunger, while it saw the ants distributing every day corn and grain from the stores they had collected in the summer. Then the Grasshopper knew:

It is best to prepare for the days of necessity.

Hey Mammoth... Welcome back! I missed you. How is the adoption coming along. Is your little angel home already?

LOL! Great connection and so very true and sad.

Everyone still seems to be in denial about the coming collapse. They're still living in wishful thinking a miracle will save their behinds. But no can do! NOT for these crooks...

Hey there Princess I miss you too. I quit posting to your blog after you deleted a pro-Obama post that I posted to one of your pro-Hillary threads.

I can understand it if you delete a nasty or hateful post, but that one was neither. It really did not seem like you, to delete a post just because you disagreed with it, but whatever – it’s your blog.

But while we’re on the topic of Hillary & Obama, let me say that IMHO Hillary has too much “baggage,” is seen by too many as a political tool of the corporate entity, and could not win the presidential election. Obama is perceived as a fresh new start for this country after 8 long, dark years. He can win.

But would he actually make a better president than Hillary? No, I did not say that. But first and foremost – McCain needs to be sent packing on Election Day.

Thanks for asking about the adoption! We have a court date over there on July 28th, and are wading through what is hopefully the last of the paperwork pile- notarizing & apostilling documents, visa applications, etc.; just bought our flight tickets last Friday. Ugh!

But we are trying to remain positive now that we finally can see the light at the end of this 4+ year long tunnel…

It is now 1:00 AM tomorrow morning over there. Sleep peacefully, little Nadia, and know that your parents will soon come to take you home. And you will always have us as your mother and father!

I'd like to explain why I never posted your pro-Obama comments...

1st- I didn't think it was fair to only post your comments when I found myself not posting the derogatory comments from Obama supporters and there were many.

2nd- Also to be fair, because I wasn't posting my 1st reason I was not posting the pro-Hillary comments as well.

Many people forget that we had 8 great prosperous years with Bill Clinton.

IMHO, Obama is the political tool for the Corporate entity and elites. He has too many dark associations that do not bode well for the United States. He may be a new fresh face as you put it, but he is very much a new puppet.

You thought the Bush clan was bad, if this man gets into office may Heaven help us all.

Take heart Mammoth, little Nadia will be home before you know it. Your focus will soon shift from the adoption process to adjusting to having a child in your home :)

Little Nadia is soooo very lucky to have parents that would go to great lengths the way you two have, to want to give her a loving home and a bright future.
