BUSH: U.S. Economy is at RISK for Recession or Not at RISK for Recession...That is the QUESTION?

This is a 2 1/2 minute news clip of President George W. Bush admitting that the economy is at risk of slipping into a recession and announced his desire to give the economy a boost with a combination of tax breaks and one-time rebates.

Now President George W. Bush declared today one month later that the U.S. Is Not Headed Into Recession! Mr. President Can you PLEASE make UP YOUR MIND! How about getting your FACTS straight... Do you really BELIEVE that $400 to $1,200 per person or family is going to stimulate the U.S. Economy? Are you that disillusioned? Are you that disconnected with SOCIETY? Are YOU not supposed to be SERVING the people? or perhaps Mr. President you are just buying time by consistently lying to the public until you leave the White House. Hhmmm...

AP News, February 28, 2008:

WASHINGTON - President Bush said Thursday the country is not recession-bound and, despite expressing concern about slowing economic growth, rejected for now any additional stimulus efforts. "We acted robustly," he said.

Bush's view of the economy was decidedly rosier than that of many economists, who say the country is nearing recession territory or may already be there. "I'm concerned about the economy," he said. "I don't think we're headed to recession. But no question, we're in a slowdown."

SHAME ON YOU President Bush, Secretary of Treasury Henry Paulson and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke for giving the public a FALSE sense of security!!! Remaining in DENIAL will NOT make this PROBLEM go away. ONLY by taking appropriate action NOW not later will you be able to stop this from escalating to EPIC proportions!

I know you need to look at past economic data to make decisions. Nevertheless, what we are facing is NOTHING like we have experienced in the past. YOU need to take a forward looking view of this situation. It doesn't take a genius to see how this situation will play out: massive job losses, a tsunami of foreclosures, county's filing bankruptcy, etc. How BIG is this SNOWBALL and where will it role?? ALL OVER!

Remember, this is the son of the president who, on a tour of a new grocery store in 1992, emphatically exclaimed his amazement at bar-code readers…over ten years after they were first introduced into stores across all America.

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, you know.

Hi again!
Did you have a nice weekend Princess M? I spent some quality time in the garden - got to get busy there, since spring is coming.

It always sux when you have to come back to reality after a nice vacation. (I went to Kauai.) Are you planning a vacation this year?

Not in the mood to deal with all the sh!t going on at work, bad news every time I look at the newspaper, and everyone talking about politics 24/7.

Sheesh - it's better just communing with the plants in the garden.

Happy Monday!

Hi Mammoth aka Andrew ;)

I did... I had a great weekend! I did some early spring cleaning LOL

I hear ya about the news... I was just asking my neighbor the other day if it was a full moon because Friday's local news was horrific! Not to mention the other news I read on the internet.

I too take solice in my yard. Although I do not have a garden like you do. Tending to your garden must be therapeutic... Heck I enjoy sweeping my patio and raking my yard it relaxes me LOL

My grapefruit tree is spouting new branches and leaves. I also have baby birds and squirrels visiting my yard. Spring is definitely in the air...

I LOVE Kauai!!! You are soooo lucky to have just visited there. It's always so hard for me to leave there! Their laid back attitude is soooo my style. Don't you love how the stores there put up signs that read open 8ish or be back at 2ish... ;)

What part of the island did you stay at? Did you get to visit Waimea Canyon? Was the weather PUURFECT?

As for my vacation plans for this year, I haven't given it any thought right now.

Although, Australia, Galapagos or Fiji would be at the top of my list! ;)

Scuba diving sounds really nice right about now! It is such a great escape plunging into another universe surrounding by a plethora of beautiful creatures!

Now you see what you've done Andrew... you have me dreamin' again ;)

Remember, there's nothing wrong with dreaming! First you can build your castle in the sky, but then you need to build a foundation under it or you will never get there.

Re: Kauai, it was my first visit there, and I purposely only explored the south & west sides of the island in order to 'save' the rest of it for next time.

Stayed at Kekaha. Did a day-hike into Waimea Canyon - isn't that place just awesome? Sat on some rocks with a nice view, listening to the sounds of nature (which, incidentally, included the "baa-ing" of feral goats in the hidden depths). Scared up some large bird on the hike back up to the car.

Stopped by a town festival in Waimea for some fried poi balls (kinda sweet, but greasy); ya gotta try the locak fare when you go somewhere, ya know... Also listened to the musicians on the stage they had set up there. The guy playing Elvis songs on his ukulele was a big hit there.

Swam in the ocean at the crowded beach at Poipu, where I spotted an enormous monk seal. It was lying on the sand with a look of pure pleasure on its face - what a neat sight!

Did a lot of relaxing and contemplating about how I am spending my life, and came to the conclusion that this guy works waaay too hard and that the 4-hour daily commute saps too much life out of me.

Gotta figure out how to downshift, but what to do when the only decent-paying jobs are in the big city...? Perhaps this dilemna will get figured out in another year or two, if it doesn't get get cured by a layoff in this sinking economy.

And yes - the weather was PURRRFECT! (When compared to the weather here in the great Northwest during the winter.) It sure is easy to contemplate just selling everything, dropping out, and moving to paradise, isn't it?

Have a nice one, Princess!

The south & west sides of the island ARE the best sides ;)

I remember the first time we rented a house in the North side and found ourselves driving to the south and west sides almost everyday! The sun is best there... plus, there is much more to see there.

Did you get to see any waterfalls on your day-hike into Waimea Canyon? How about those chickens lol ;)

We always stop at the Waimea Brewing Co. for food and drink. I too enjoy being part of the local culture.

It is always HARD to come back after visiting paradise! Yeah I often fantasize living in a hut, starting a scuba diving business and living far away from any civilation!

Wow, 4 hour commute! That would take alot out of me too.

Contemplating life is a very good thing. I've learned that it is also good to do that when life is good as opposed to being force to make life changing decisions due to circumstances beyond our control. That's how I've been shaken up by the Supreme Being above! lol ;)

Have a great day Mammoth!

Wow I am pissed this morning! On Tuesday I posted a suggestion to Keith that he run a thread on the Seattle-area houses which burned the other day. So he runs a thread. Does he give the Mammoth any credit?

Nooooooooooo.

So I just added a post to that thread. I doubt that he’ll print it, but here it is, just for you:
++++++++++++++++
Keith,

From my March 4th post on the "Angry Sheeple" thread...
------------------
"Yesterday in Woodinville, WA, some activists burned down a couple of brand-new McMansions. Supposedly, this was the work of the Earth Liberation Front (ELF). Try Googling the news articles and read for yourself!

Who really knows who the true culprit was? Can't make the mortgage on your Mcmansion? Just torch it, and plant an ELF sign or two in the vicinity.

Hey - this topic may just deserve its own thread!

------------------
But hey - that's okay - you don't need to credit your blog's posters for where your ideas for threads come from, right?
++++++++++++++++++
Sorry…don’t mind me…just in a whiny mood today. (Wish I was still in Kauai…)

Take care,
Mammoth

Hi Mammoth,
Thanks for sharing! You're always welcome to vent here about whatever is on your mind!!! ;)

I agree, that does stink! Keith changed over time. I stopped blogging on HP when he began censoring my comments and then subtly threatened to expose me! That too was not very nice of him to say the least!

Anyhoo, about those houses burning... My immediate thought after hearing about it on the news was the owner's/builders burned down the McMansions and blamed the ELF! Everybody is desparate right now. Very sad state of affairs all over the nation...

At least Kauai is still very fresh in your mind... just go there in deep thought! That's what I do to escape lol ;)

Hey there Dearheart,

Please don't quit blogging on HP just because Keith is a Stinker. Many of us bloggers already know that!

Why deny yourself, and the HP community of your thoughtful posts, just because of ONE person? So what if that one person is Keith?

Just continue to blog there, and get what you can from all the interesting (and outrageous) commentary.

Keith has NEVER exposed anybody, dear Princess, so don't worry about him doing it. But be careful, as you don't always really know exactly what the character of other bloggers are.

Having said that, I trust that you would not expose me. (You already know my first name.)

And by the way, I am not "Andrew Hac" nor "Andrew from Russia."

Have a great day, Princess M!

I do miss blogging on HP! It was Keith who began censoring my comments and not posting them. And that was after he subtly threatened me. So I took that as a get out of here, I don't want your comments...

So I stopped wasting my time typing comments that would never be posted. I even tried to comment anonymously and he didn't post it. So he obviously knows my IP address. Oh well, I have my blog! It's okay HP was GREAT while it lasted. ;)

I hope you have a great weekend Mammoth! Look forward to hearing from you again soon! ~ Princess M

Wow - you were up at 2:36 AM Saturday morning. Well, someimes it pleasant to be awake in the middle of the night when the rest of the world is sleeping, isn't it?

But I wonder - since you live in the LA area - even at that crazy hour, Princess, if you listen hard can you still hear the hum of the city's 'machine?'

Here, all that I can hear at 2:36 AM is the peeping of the frogs on the pond outside. Kinda nice, actually...

LOL! I am a night owl. I have always been nocturnal. Boy did I struggle for 10 years working New York hours when I was a stock broker! Thank goodness I loved my job and it was stimulating enough to keep me awake in the wee hours ;)

It's actually pretty quiet compared to the usual city sounds. However, I'm quite sure it does NOT compare to the beautiful silence you get to enjoy ;)

One of these days Mammoth I too will own my ranch with horses, duckees, avocado trees... SOON I hope! That is where I hope to retire my mom. It will be my second home while I adventure...
