HAPPY NEW YEAR 2014
LET FREEDOM RING!
What does let freedom ring mean?

The expression is from last line of the first verse of Samuel Francis Smith's poem "My Country 'Tis of Thee" (also called "America, the Beautiful"). The song itself is about America's people singing in celebration of their country --both its physical features and all the freedoms it enjoys (as the "sweet land of liberty"). The poet imagines the song being heard everywhere ('from every mountainside'), and even nature itself joining in the song.

The third verse continues and extends the image, looking for all people, all creatures, even the very rocks to sing out:

Let music swell the breeze,
And ring from all the trees
Sweet freedom's song;
Let mortal tongues awake;
Let all that breathe partake;
Let rocks their silence break,
The sound prolong.

Thus "let freedom ring" is a wish and invitation to fellow citizens that the "song of freedom" might be sung out throughout the whole land. The 'singing of the song of freedom' includes not only extolling the (past) enjoyment of liberty in this land, but also making it more and more a reality.

Let Freedom Ring is also a U.S. phrase: A statement that the ideals of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness should be spread across the Earth and allowed to flourish.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
~ 2014 ~

I'm sorry I've been MIA on and off for the past few months. I've had several personal situations I had to deal with, one after another. But I'm happy to report things are looking up. I've done my part with God's help and I trust that God has my back. I know that no weapon formed against me directly or indirectly shall prosper. It hasn't all been challenging, I had sprinkles of good news throughout my ordeals. That was God's way of letting me know everything is going to be okay. :) Life is GOOD! I see each and every one of my situations as challenges that strengthen me and force me to grow in so many ways.

I've missed you and intend to jump back on this horse and ride her into the New Year. So expect to see me blogging regularly again.

This is how I shake it all off of me. ;) I'll be damned if I let this world's MADNESS, a person or a situation steal MY JOY!!! We have so much to be GRATEFUL for... just look around you. Thank God that you have a roof over your head, clothes on your back, clean water to drink and food to eat. The simple fact that you are breathing and have all of your senses should be enough to give God thanks everyday!

So get up off that couch and DANCE in your living room!!! CELEBRATE, LAUGH and choose to be HAPPY! Come on folks, let's get this party started... :D

Twilight Zone Marathon On The Syfy Channel WooHoo!!! Happy Camper :D The Obsolete Man. This Is My #1 Favorite Twilight Zone Episode :)

FYI my fellow Twilight Zone lovers! The Syfy channel is having a Twilight Zone marathon today until 5am tomorrow! WooHoo! I am in Twilight Zone HEAVEN. :D

UPDATE 1/1/2014: I thought the TZ marathon ended at 5am this morning. That's what the TW cable guide showed yesterday. But it's still going all day today!!! w00t!

The Obsolete Man is my #1 favorite Twilight Zone episode :)

Rod Serling intro: "You walk into this room at your own risk. Because it leads to the future. Not a future that will be, but one that might be. This is not a new world. It is simply an extension of what began in the old one. It has patterned itself after every dictator who has ever planted the ripping imprint of a boot on the pages of history since the beginning of time. It has refinements, technological advances and a more sophisticated approach to the destruction of human freedom. But like every one of the super States that preceeded it, it has one iron rule, LOGIC is an enemy and TRUTH is a menace."

Rod Serling closing statement: "The Chancellor, the late Chancellor was only partly correct. He was obsolete. But so was the State, the Entity he worshipped. Any State, any Entity, any Ideology that FAILS to recognize the worth, the dignity, the rights of man, that State is obsolete. A case to be filed under M for MANKIND in the Twilight Zone.
This United Nations quote I shared with you above is an example of what Rod Serling was describing.

The Holiness of God ~ WOW This Is An AMAZING Interpretation! I Have Been Left In AWE ~~~ PLEASE READ

Holiness of God
By Pastor Nick Bibile

One of the major differences between Christianity and other religions is that God of the Bible is infinitely holy. The Hebrew word, "to be holy" is quadash, it is derived from the root word qud, which means to cut or separate. God is absolutely separated and is above from all his creatures and he is exalted above in infinite majesty."Who among the gods is like you, O LORD ? Who is like you; majestic in holiness, awesome in glory" (Exodus 15:11) In fact some of the most vivid displays of God's holiness is displayed in the Old Testament. One of the greatest passages is found in Isaiah chapter six.

HOLY, HOLY, HOLY IS THE LORD

Isaiah prophesied during the reign of four kings over a period of sixty years. One of the kings that lived during Isaiahs time was king Uzziah. He became a king when he was 16 years old and reigned the nation for 52 years. Now that is a pretty long time. Its like American people experiencing 13 presidents ruling in their 4 year terms. It was like saying, long live the king, as generations have experienced the rule of Uzziah. But the king died. When he died, apparently the entire nation was feeling a sense of panic and fear, as their leader is dead. Isaiah the prophet went to the temple of God, and he sees another king, an eternal King, sitting on his throne.

"In the year that king Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple." (Isaiah 6:1)

When you see the word Lord, here it refers to Adhonay in Hebrew meaning the sovereignty of God. But when you see the word LORD in capital, it refers to the name of God, Yahweh.

The human king is dead but the sovereign king of the Universe is alive, His Kingship is forever and it never ends. This is a picture of His majesty, His glory and power. The exalted one who became a servant. Yes, he is the one who became flesh. Apostle John said, "Isaiah said this because he saw Jesus glory and spoke about him." (John 12:41)

Isaiah 6:2 says, "Above him were seraphs, each with six wings, with two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying."

These angels were created and designed to proclaim the holiness of God. They were flying with two wings above the throne of God. This is the exaltation of his throne. Then it says that they covered their feet with two wings. Why did they cover their feet? In Exodus chapter three we see how God appeared to Moses in a burning bush. God said to Moses, "Do not come any closer; take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground." (Exodus 3:5) But this is just a normal place, where Moses is familiar with this area. Why is it that only now this spot suddenly became holy? Whenever God's presence appears everything becomes sanctified. It was God's presence that made the ground holy. When God descended in a fire to Mt. Sinai, prior to that he told the people to consecrate themselves. (Exodus 19) Here in Isaiah the angels cover their feet because of the presence of God's holiness. Just imagine, if we see an angel, that would be awesome. But even the angels are covering their feet as God's holiness brings his absolute majesty and glory.

Then it says with two wings they covered their face. Do you know why the angels cover their faces? In Exodus 33:18, Moses asked the Lord to show His glory. God said, "You cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live." (Exodus 33:20) It is absolutely impossible to see the infinite glory of His majesty, not even the angelic creatures, How awesome is His glory! Then God told Moses, "You may stand on a rock. When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand, until I passed by. Then I will remove my hand and you will see my back; but my face must not be seen." (Exodus 33:22-23)

The God of the Universe is infinitely holy, even these angelic beings cannot see the full glory of Him.

Then in Isaiah 6:3, the angels were calling to one another:
"Holy, Holy, Holy is the LORD almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory."

This is the only time in the Bible an attribute of God being repeated three times. The Bible say that God is love, but not love, love, love. According to Jewish custom, when they wanted to emphasize a point they repeated it two times. Jesus said, "Truly, truly I say unto you" This mean it is absolutely truly what he was going to say. But here in Isaiah God's holiness is repeated not to the second degree but to the third degree, which means he is infinitely holy. On the other hand the Antichrist is called with the number 666, repeated to the third degree of evil.

The holiness of God is somewhat different than all His other attributes, as God is holy in all His attributes. He is holy in His Goodness, holy in his Justice, holy in His Wrath, etc., He is majestic in His Holiness, because His name is Holy. In the past the name of a person reflects the character of that individual. God's name is holy, that means all what he thinks and does is holy. "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name" (Matt. 6:9) "For this is what the high and lofty One says, who lives forever, whose name is holy; I live in high and holy place" (Isaiah 57:15)

The scribes who copied one manuscript to another, when it came to the name of God, they used another pen, and even if a king was passing by when he was writing the name of God, the scribe will not look at the king as the name of God is infinitely holy than anything else.

We can never fully understand the holiness of God. It is immeasurable. He is infinitely holy and the ten commandments reveal his holiness to mankind. Thats why no one can keep the commandments, we all fall short fall of His glory.

Threefold Hallelujah Over Babylon’s Fall; Songs of Victory in Heaven; The Heavenly Warrior Defeats the Beast

Songs of Victory in Heaven
Revelation 19 Amplified Bible (AMP)
[source: Biblegateway.org]

1 After this I heard what sounded like a mighty shout of a great crowd in heaven, exclaiming, Hallelujah (praise the Lord)! Salvation and glory (splendor and majesty) and power (dominion and authority) [belong] to our God!

2 Because His judgments (His condemnation and punishment, His sentences of doom) are true and sound and just and upright. He has judged (convicted, pronounced sentence, and doomed) the great and notorious harlot (idolatress) who corrupted and demoralized and poisoned the earth with her lewdness and adultery (idolatry). And He has avenged (visited on her the penalty for) the blood of His servants at her hand.

3 And again they shouted, Hallelujah (praise the Lord)! The smoke of her [burning] shall continue to ascend forever and ever (through the eternities of the eternities).

4 Then the twenty-four elders [of the heavenly Sanhedrin] and the four living creatures fell prostrate and worshiped [paying divine honors to] God, Who sits on the throne, saying, Amen! Hallelujah (praise the Lord)!

5 Then from the throne there came a voice, saying, Praise our God, all you servants of His, you who reverence Him, both small and great!

6 After that I heard what sounded like the shout of a vast throng, like the boom of many pounding waves, and like the roar of terrific and mighty peals of thunder, exclaiming, Hallelujah (praise the Lord)! For now the Lord our God the Omnipotent (the All-Ruler) reigns!

7 Let us rejoice and shout for joy [exulting and triumphant]! Let us celebrate and ascribe to Him glory and honor, for the marriage of the Lamb [at last] has come, and His bride has prepared herself.

8 She has been permitted to dress in fine (radiant) linen, dazzling and white—for the fine linen is (signifies, represents) the righteousness (the upright, just, and godly living, deeds, and conduct, and right standing with God) of the saints (God’s holy people).

9 Then [the angel] said to me, Write this down: Blessed (happy, to be envied) are those who are summoned (invited, called) to the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he said to me [further], These are the true words (the genuine and exact declarations) of God.

10 Then I fell prostrate at his feet to worship (to pay divine honors) to him, but he [restrained me] and said, Refrain! [You must not do that!] I am [only] another servant with you and your brethren who have [accepted and hold] the testimony borne by Jesus. Worship God! For the substance (essence) of the truth revealed by Jesus is the spirit of all prophecy [the vital breath, the inspiration of all inspired preaching and interpretation of the divine will and purpose, including both mine and yours].

The Heavenly Warrior Defeats the Beast

11 After that I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse [appeared]! The One Who was riding it is called Faithful (Trustworthy, Loyal, Incorruptible, Steady) and True, and He passes judgment and wages war in righteousness (holiness, justice, and uprightness).

12 His eyes [blaze] like a flame of fire, and on His head are many kingly crowns (diadems); and He has a title (name) inscribed which He alone knows or can understand.

13 He is dressed in a robe dyed by dipping in blood, and the title by which He is called is The Word of God.

14 And the troops of heaven, clothed in fine linen, dazzling and clean, followed Him on white horses.

15 From His mouth goes forth a sharp sword with which He can smite (afflict, strike) the nations; and He will shepherd and control them with a staff (scepter, rod) of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fierceness of the wrath and indignation of God the All-Ruler (the Almighty, the Omnipotent).

16 And on His garment (robe) and on His thigh He has a name (title) inscribed:

king of kings and lord of lords.
17 Then I saw a single angel stationed in the sun’s [d]light, and with a mighty voice he shouted to all the birds that fly across the sky, Come, gather yourselves together for the great supper of God,

18 That you may feast on the flesh of rulers, the flesh of generals and captains, the flesh of powerful and mighty men, the flesh of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all humanity, both free and slave, both small and great!

19 Then I saw the beast and the rulers and leaders of the earth with their troops mustered to go into battle and make war against Him Who is mounted on the horse and against His troops.

20 And the beast was seized and overpowered, and with him the false prophet who in his presence had worked wonders and performed miracles by which he led astray those who had accepted or permitted to be placed upon them the stamp (mark) of the beast and those who paid homage and gave divine honors to his statue. Both of them were hurled alive into the fiery lake that burns and blazes with brimstone.

21 And the rest were killed with the sword that issues from the mouth of Him Who is mounted on the horse, and all the birds fed ravenously and glutted themselves with their flesh.

Jesus' Priesthood Never Curses; Jesus’ High Priesthood Is Forever

Destined to Reign Devotional: Daily Reflections for Effortless Success; page 241 pdf format

And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him, called by God as High Priest "according to the order of Melchizedek." Hebrews 5:9-10

When Jesus died and rose again, He became our High Priest. But notice that Jesus' priesthood is "according to the order of Melchizedek". Why the Melchizedek priesthood?

The Melchizedek priesthood gives to man (whereas the Aaronic priesthood takes from man). We see this when Melchizedek gave bread and wine to refresh a tired Abraham after his battle with the enemy kings. (Genesis 14:14-20) So if Jesus' priesthood is according to the Melchizedek order, then it is one in which we can come boldly into His presence to receive from Him! (Hebrews 4:16)

The Melchizedek Order

Moreover, the first word from Melchizedek's mouth was "Blessed" - "Blessed be Abram…" (Genesis 14:19) The Melchizedek order is just that - blessings. In other words, Jesus' priesthood is one which blesses and never curses us!

So are we conscious of Jesus our High Priest giving to us every day? Are we alert to all His blessings coming from heaven toward us on earth?

Now, it is easy for us to believe God for His blessings in creation. For example, we have no difficulty believing that the sun will rise every morning. But while we have no problems believing the work of creation, we have problems believing the work of redemption. We sometimes find it hard to believe God for healing, prosperity, favor, protection or restoration - blessings that Jesus died to give us. We don't really believe that every day, the Lord will take care of us, keep our bodies healthy and provide for all our needs.

Yet, creation is fallen. It can be a blessing as well as a curse. Sometimes, a storm arises, and powerful winds and rains destroy thousands of homes and lives. Sometimes, dark clouds hide the sun and make the whole day gloomy.

My friend, we can't put our trust in creation, but we can certainly put our trust in redemption. And unlike creation, the blessings of redemption are all good! The work of Jesus is not subject to the weather or anything else. The work of redemption is as sure as Jesus Himself. He died and rose again to be our High Priest who daily showers us with blessings!

… Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. Hebrews 6:20
Jesus is our High Priest forever. This “forever” aspect changes the way we are blessed and how we receive our blessings from God. As our High Priest, Jesus represents us before God. Since His priesthood is after the order of Melchizedek, which is one of righteousness, His righteousness becomes our righteousness forever. This means that we are forever righteous in God’s eyes!

And because He will never die, but continue as our High Priest forever, we have an everlasting righteousness, not merely a here-today-gone-tomorrow righteousness based on our works. No, we have a perpetual and everlasting righteousness because Jesus is our High Priest forever.

This also means that blessings are perpetually on your head because the Bible says that blessings are on the head of the righteous (Proverbs 10:6), and you are righteous forever!

Unlike the priesthood according to the Levitical order, which blesses as well as curses, the priesthood of Jesus according to the Melchizedek order only blesses. There is no cursing, only blessing — always and forever!

And because Jesus is our High Priest forever, the blessings do not come to us in intermittent drips, but stream into our lives in a never-ending flow. Because He is our High Priest forever, we can never stop His blessings.

By being our High Priest forever, Jesus also touches the blessings that He gives us with a forever effect. He touches our lives and we have eternal life. He touches our ministry and its impact becomes eternal. And the more we see His priesthood as having a forever effect, the more permanent our blessings will be.

Truly, there is nothing temporal about what Jesus our High Priest does. It is not a case of blessed today, cursed tomorrow. The blessings we receive are sure and steadfast because Jesus is our High Priest today, tomorrow and forever.

So rejoice because Jesus your High Priest changes how you are blessed forever!

Thought For The Day:
Don’t just see the evil around you. See the good that God is already doing!

Jesus (Yahshua) is an (Eternal High) Priest in the Order of Melchizedek

(Hebrews 5:6)
written by Juli Camarin
[source: JCblog.net: Exploring God's Word, Planting the Seeds of Life]
“And he says in another place, “You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.” ( Hebrews 5:6 )
Not only did God appoint Christ and exalt Him with the honor of becoming our High Priest, he also appointed Him a rank in the order of Melchizedek. This is extremely significant as human standards would never have allowed Jesus this position. And yet, God is the one who appointed Him as eternal High Priest after this order. There was a reason God prophesied these very words through David, "The LORD has sworn and will not change his mind: "You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.” ( Psalm 110:4 ). To understand this, we must look at who Melchizedek was and how Jesus is like him.

This account is found in Genesis 14. Abraham had just defeated the four kings and rescued Lot from their hand. As he is returning Melchizedek, the priest comes and blesses Abraham. "Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High, and he blessed Abram, saying, “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. And blessed be God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand.” Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything." ( Genesis 14:18-20 ). In this short account we see a priest of God bless Abraham and he responds by giving him one tenth of all of his possessions. What is interesting is that the Law, with its priestly regulations wasn't introduced for another 430 years during the time of Moses and yet from the beginning there existed a priest of God Most High.

Hebrews 7 gives much more detail about this. "This Melchizedek was king of Salem and priest of God Most High. He met Abraham returning from the defeat of the kings and blessed him, and Abraham gave him a tenth of everything. First, his name means “king of righteousness”; then also, “king of Salem” means “king of peace.” Without father or mother, without genealogy, without beginning of days or end of life, like the Son of God he remains a priest forever." ( Hebrews 7:1-3 ). A lot of mystery surrounds this priest as he has no record of beginning, end or genealogy. Without these records, one could say he has always and will always exist. Known as both the king of righteousness and the king of peace, these names are descriptive of who he was.

Jesus shares the same attributes attributed to Melchizedek in Hebrews 7. First, he was appointed by God. The previous verses states,“No one takes this honor upon himself; he must be called by God, just as Aaron was. So Christ also did not take upon himself the glory of becoming a high priest. But God said to him, “You are my Son; today I have become your Father.” ( Hebrews 5:4-5 ). Secondly, we see through Jesus' recorded genealogy his eternal existence. Matthew gives an account of Joseph's line. Luke gives an account of Mary's line, but John gives his genealogy as eternal God. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning." ( John 1:1-2 ). Lastly, the names given to Melchizedek were also given to Jesus. It was Isaiah who prophesied that Jesus would be called prince of peace ( Isaiah 9:6 ). And the author of Hebrews, quoting from the Psalm stated that righteousness would be the scepter of his kingdom ( Hebrews 1:8, Psalm 45:6-7 ).

This is important to us because our faith rests in Jesus and the finished work of the cross. Our faith rests in the fact that he is alive and seated in heaven interceding on our behalf. "Because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them." ( Hebrews 7:24-25 ). This is why it is important to understand how Jesus is a priest after the order and with the rank of Melchizedek. "And what we have said is even more clear if another priest like Melchizedek appears, one who has become a priest not on the basis of a regulation as to his ancestry but on the basis of the power of an indestructible life. For it is declared: “You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.” ( Hebrews 7:15-17 ). Jesus is able to save completely those to come to in Him in faith because he is alive and resides permanently as our High Priest of the Most High God.

Melchizedeck and Christ, The Levitical Priesthood

Hebrews 7
written by Warren E. Berkley
[source: The Expository Files]

Right in the middle of the Hebrew epistle there is a lengthy passage about a man named Melchizedek. And the affirmation that comes from this discussion is: Christ is a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.

"For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, to whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all, first being translated "king of righteousness," and then also king of Salem, meaning "king of peace," without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, remains a priest continually.

Now consider how great this man was, to whom even the patriarch Abraham gave a tenth of the spoils. And indeed those who are of the sons of Levi, who receive the priesthood, have a commandment to receive tithes from the people according to the law, that is, from their brethren, though they have come from the loins of Abraham; but he whose genealogy is not derived from them received tithes from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises.

Now beyond all contradiction the lesser is blessed by the better. Here mortal men receive tithes, but there he receives them, of whom it is witnessed that he lives. Even Levi, who receives tithes, paid tithes through Abraham, so to speak, for he was still in the loins of his father when Melchizedek met him.

Therefore, if perfection were through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people received the law), what further need was there that another priest should rise according to the order of Melchizedek, and not be called according to the order of Aaron? For the priesthood being changed, of necessity there is also a change of the law. For He of whom these things are spoken belongs to another tribe, from which no man has officiated at the altar. For it is evident that our Lord arose from Judah, of which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood. And it is yet far more evident if, in the likeness of Melchizedek, there arises another priest who has come, not according to the law of a fleshly commandment, but according to the power of an endless life. For He testifies: "You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek"." Heb. 7:1-17, NKJ.

A reading of this passage that isn't accompanied by a lot of deliberate study may leave the reader somewhat confused. There is this mysterious man, Melchizedek; he is somehow connected to Christ being High Priest; this is not the same as the Levitical priesthood... What is this all about? To deal with this, we must begin with some background.

A NEW ORDER WAS BEING INTRODUCED

In the days of the apostles, most of the Jews were bothered by the idea that with Christ and His apostles, a new order was being introduced. This means the old order was finished. This was a troubling thing to Jews who heard the gospel. Even some - after being baptized - still raised questions and entertained doubt in regard to this change from the old to the new.

Under the new order circumcision could not be bound as an essential to please God; the sacrifices and rituals of the law were no longer necessary or appropriate and Gentiles were being accepted into God's favor.

These changes disturbed most Jews. And some who had obeyed the gospel were being tempted to fall back... that is, to return to the old order of things (Old Testament Judaism, based on the traditions and enforcements of the Pharisees). The accusers of Stephen said, among other things, "...we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and change the customs which Moses delivered to us," (Acts 6:14). The very idea of change or the notion of the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple -- these things were utterly repugnant to the Jews. And militant Pharisees like Saul of Tarsus were disturbed to the point of action (persecution).

So, much teaching and writing had to be done through the apostles to explain these things to the Jews, and fortify them against apostasy. This is the kind of teaching there is in Romans chapters nine through eleven; also, in the books of Galatians and Hebrews. Inspired writers labored to convince the Jews - "there is made of necessity a change also of the law."

THE OFFICE OF HIGH PRIEST

The Jews placed stress on the office of High Priest, for it was through these men that the people had, for many generations, their access to God.

I think it could be said, many of the Hebrew people who had converted to Christianity missed the Levitical priests. No doubt, some of them were being tempted to go back to that old system.

Yet, the Hebrew writer sent them the message: YOU HAVE SOMETHING BETTER! He teaches them that Christ was "made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people," (2:17). "Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus," (3:1). "Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need," (4:14-16).

In the first ten verses of Hebrews five, the inspired writer shows that in every respect, Jesus Christ is qualified to be High Priest. And, in fact, God had put Christ in this position. God had said: "You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek," (see Psa. 110:4; Heb. 5:6). [After making this affirmation, the writer went into a discussion about the condition his readers were in; they were "dull of hearing," see 5:11-6:19. He returns to his teaching concerning Melchizedek in chapter seven.]

Thus, the primary affirmation of this section of the Hebrew epistle is: Jesus became high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedeck.

BUT, WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

It means that Christ was not a High Priest, as in Aaron and the Levitical order (according to the law of Moses). The High Priesthood of Jesus Christ -- the writer is affirming -- is of a higher order! Christ was and is a High Priest like Melchizedek; not like Aaron or Levi. Note the following:

1. Melchizedek's position as High Priest was not dependent on ancestry... neither was Christ's. (7:14).

2. Melchizedek was not in a succession of many priests... neither is Christ. (7:3).

3. Melchizedek's priesthood was higher than and separate from the Levitical order... so is Christ's. (7:4-7).

4. Melchizedek was priest and king... so is Christ! (See Zech. 6:9-15).

5. Melchizedek received tribute from Abraham, the father of the Jewish nation; this shows the superiority of Melchizedek's priesthood above the Levitical (which came out of the loins of Abraham). {See Gen. 14:18-20 with Heb. 7:4}.

CONCLUSION

All of this was set up, executed and revealed by God, for the purpose of convincing the Jews - their old Levitical priesthood was now history. The broader point of application was: Their old law was now abrogated. For the Levitical priesthood and the old law were bound together; one was a subordinate part of the other. Thus it followed -- if the priesthood is changed, "there is made of necessity a change also of the law," (Heb. 7:12).

For us what does this mean? It means that the law of Moses is not binding today. And it means that we have a high priest (access to God)! "For such a high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens. Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's; for this he did once, when he offered up himself." (Heb. 7:26-27).

"Wherefore, he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them," (Heb. 7:25).

The Last of the Levites; Jesus (Yahshua) Became Our Eternal High Priest

written by Nicholas T. Batzig
[source: Feeding on Christ]

Someone recently asked what details the Scriptures give into the transition of the priesthood from Levi to Judah. It is abundantly clear from the book of Hebrews that there was such a transition; and on account of it Christ is now the eternal Priest who came with the once-for-all sacrifice. The writer of Hebrews expressly stated the transition when he wrote:
Therefore, if perfection were through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people received the law), what further need was there that another priest should rise according to the order of Melchizedek, and not be called according to the order of Aaron? For the priesthood being changed, of necessity there is also a change of the law. For He of whom these things are spoken belongs to another tribe, from which no man has officiated at the altar. For it is evident that our Lord arose from Judah, of which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood. (Heb. 7:11-14)
So the question remains, when, exactly, did the transition occur?

Several years ago I was reading through the opening chapters of Luke, and noticed an interesting juxtaposition. John the Baptist, Jesus’ cousin, was the son of a Levitical priest. In fact, Zacharias was ministering in the Temple when the Angel came to announce the birth of John. The fact that Luke gives such a detailed account of Zacharias’ Levitical ministry leads to the conclusion that Zacharias’ tribal connection has significance for his son’s ministry. John was born six months prior to the One for whom he was to prepare the way. We might expect to find something of John’s Levitical fuction, but we are not told of any ministry that John had in the Temple. Instead we find John ministering in the desert, the place representing the exile and curse. The restoration of all things would begin with a “voice crying in the wilderness.” John was called to the higher ministry of preparing for the restoration of all things, by “preparing the way of the LORD.” There is one act that John performs that does shed light on the Levitical function–baptism. Baptism was an Old Covenant act, carried out by the Levites in the Temple. They were called to wash the utensils used in the ceremonial aspects of Temple worship. The writer of Hebrews makes this clear when he wrote:
Now when these things had been thus prepared, the priests always went into the first part of the tabernacle, performing the services. But into the second part the high priest went alone once a year, not without blood, which he offered for himself and for the people’s sins committed in ignorance; the Holy Spirit indicating this, that the way into the Holiest of All was not yet made manifest while the first tabernacle was still standing. It was symbolic for the present time in which both gifts and sacrifices are offered which cannot make him who performed the service perfect in regard to the conscience” concerned only with foods and drinks, various washings (lit. baptisms), and fleshly ordinances imposed until the time of reformation. (Heb. 9:6-10)
The “time of Reformation” spoke of in these verses is the coming of the Son of God into the world. John prepared the way for this act; and, it is interesting to find John carrying out a Levitical function–baptism. He does not come to baptize utensils used in the Temple. He came to baptize people with a baptism of repentance. What is all the more remarkable, is that we find him baptizing the Savior–an act symbolizing the need for purification. The One who needed no repentance, underwent a baptism of repentance as our representative, as the Sin-bearer of His people. It is altogether probable that the Priesthood changed at the baptism of Jesus. When John the Levite, baptized Jesus, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Spirit fell on Christ thereby anointing Him for His Messianic ministry. Part of that ministry was the Priesthood. The Christ (Messiah) was the anointed of the Lord–God’s Prophet, Priest and King. We cannot find it strange then to find the change of the priesthood occur at the baptism of Jesus. While a Levitical priesthood continued through days of Jesus and the apostles, we must conclude that it was void of all divine significance. In fact, it was those same priests that condemned Jesus to death. When He died on the cross, the Lord ended the sacrificial system, by Himself becoming the sacrifice for sin. The Priesthood had changed. Now we have an eternal High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God. “Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.”

Melchizedek – Priest of God Most High; Profile of Melchizedek, Priest of God and King of Salem

Profile of Melchizedek, Priest of God and King of Salem
written by Jack Zavada
[source: About.com]

Melchizedek was one of those puzzling people in the Bible who appear only briefly but are mentioned again as examples of holiness and right living.

His name means "king of righteousness," and his title King of Salem also means "king of peace."

The startling fact about Melchizedek is that although he was not a Jew, he worshiped God Most High, the one true God. Melchizedek blessed Abram, later to be renamed Abraham, after Abram rescued his nephew Lot from enemy captivity and brought back other people and goods. Abram honored Melchizedek by giving him one tenth of the plunder of battle, or a tithe. Melchizedek's graciousness is contrasted with the rudeness of the King of Sodom.

God revealed himself to Abraham, but we don't know how Melchizedek learned of the true God. Monotheism, or worship of one god, was rare in the ancient world. Most of the people worshiped several gods. Some even had dozens of local or household gods, which were represented by manmade idols.

The Bible does not shed any light on Melchizedek's religious rituals either, except to mention that he brought out "bread and wine" for Abram. This act and Melchizedek's holiness have led some scholars to describe him as a type of Christ, one of those Bible people who show the same qualities as Jesus Christ, Savior of the World. With no record of father or mother, and no genealogical background in Scripture, this description is fitting. Other scholars go a step further, theorizing that Melchizedek may have been a theophany of Christ, or a manifestation of deity in temporary form.

Understanding Jesus' status as our high priest is a key point in the book of Hebrews. Just as Melchizedek was not born into the Levitical priesthood but was appointed by God, so Jesus was named our eternal high priest, interceding with God the Father on our behalf:

Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him and was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek. (Hebrews 5:8-10, NIV)

Melchizedek's Accomplishments:

Melchizedek lived a holy and righteous life.

He recognized Abram as a follower of the true God and blessed him.

Melchizedek's Strengths:

In an era of paganism and idolatry, Melchizedek clung to God Most High and served him faithfully.

Life Lessons:

Many "gods" compete for our attention, but there is only one true God. He is worthy of our worship and obedience. If we keep our focus on God instead of frightening circumstances, God will strengthen and encourage us so we can live a life pleasing to him.

Hometown:

Salem, in Canaan, which later became Jerusalem.

Referenced in the Bible:

Genesis 14:18-20; Psalm 110:4; Hebrews 5:6, 10, 6:20, 7:1-17.

Occupation:

King of Salem, priest of God Most High.

Key Verses:

Genesis 14:18-20
Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High, 19 and he blessed Abram, saying, "Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. And praise be to God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand." Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything. (NIV)

Hebrews 7:11
If perfection could have been attained through the Levitical priesthood--and indeed the law given to the people established that priesthood--why was there still need for another priest to come, one in the order of Melchizedek, not in the order of Aaron? (NIV)

Hebrews 7:15-17
And what we have said is even more clear if another priest like Melchizedek appears, one who has become a priest not on the basis of a regulation as to his ancestry but on the basis of the power of an indestructible life. For it is declared: "You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek." (NIV)

What does it mean that Jesus (Yahshua) is King of kings and Lord of lords?

[source: GotQuestions.org]

Question: "What does it mean that Jesus is King of kings and Lord of lords?"

Answer: The phrase “king of kings” is used in Scripture six times, three of which refer to the Lord Jesus (1 Timothy 6:15; Revelation 17:14, 19:16). The other three (Ezra 7:12; Ezekiel 26:7; Daniel 2:37) refer to either Artaxerxes or Nebuchadnezzar, kings who used the phrase to express their absolute sovereignty over their respective realms (Persia and Babylon). The phrase “lord of lords” is used in Scripture five times, and only referring to God (Deuteronomy 10:17; Psalm 136:3; 1 Timothy 6:15; Revelation 17:14, 19:16). Used together, the two phrases refer only to the Lord Jesus Christ.

In 1 Timothy 6, Paul is wrapping up his letter to Timothy, telling him to fight the good fight and keep his profession of faith. He tells Timothy that he’s to do this “until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,” whom he subsequently refers to as “the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see. To Him be honor and eternal dominion.” The title is used to indicate someone who has the power to exercise absolute dominion over all His realm. In the case of the Lord Jesus, the realm is all of creation. Paul labors to emphasize the solitary nature of Christ’s rule, calling Him the “only” Sovereign, who is “alone” and “unapproachable.” The rule of Jesus is unique and above that of all other rulers.

The other two uses of the phrase, those in Revelation, refer to the final conquest and return of Jesus. The implication is that in the end all other rules will be conquered or abolished, and He alone will reign supreme as King and Lord of all creation and creatures. There is no power, no king, and no lord who can oppose Him and win. There are myriad references to this absolute rule of Jesus, and His preeminence over other rulers, all throughout Scripture, some subtle, some overt. To mention just a few, Isaiah 40:23-24 says that the Lord brings “princes to nothing” and makes earth’s rulers “emptiness.” The mere breath of the Lord will “carry them off like stubble.” Daniel’s vision of the son of man in Daniel 7:13-14 is of one whom he calls “the Ancient of Days” whose everlasting dominion is over all people, nations and languages. In the New Testament, we get a better view of whom these passages refer to when the writer of Hebrews speaks of the Lord Jesus: “He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of His nature, and He upholds the universe by the word of His power” (Hebrews 1:3). The next verse speaks of Jesus being “much superior” to the angels. Clearly, His rule over creation is absolute.

Paul makes the point that this rule is derived from Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. In Philippians 2:5-11, he discusses the extent to which Jesus went to atone for sinners and concludes that this is the reason that “God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (vv. 9-11).

Finally, in the book of Revelation we see the Kingship of Jesus made manifest. In chapter 5, the Lamb (Jesus) is the only one in all creation found worthy to open the scroll containing the judgments of God (vv. 2-5). In chapter 11, we hear voices in heaven proclaiming that the kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of Christ, and that He will reign forever and ever (v. 15). In chapter 12, we read that the authority of Christ is what causes Satan to be thrown down to earth (vv. 9-10). In chapter 17:12-14, the Lamb conquers all those arrayed against Him, and John stresses that He conquers because He is King of kings and Lord of lords. Finally, in chapter 19, we read of His triumphant coming to strike the nations and tread the winepress of the wrath of God, having the authority to do so because He is King of kings and Lord of lords (vv. 11-16).

Fundamentally, the idea of Jesus being King of kings and Lord of lords means that there is no higher authority. His reign over all things is absolute and inviolable. God raised Him from the dead and placed Him over all things, “far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all” (Ephesians 1:21-23).

What does it mean that Jesus is our High Priest?

[source: GotQuestions.org]

Question: "What does it mean that Jesus is our High Priest?"

Answer: High Priest is only one of the many titles applied to Jesus: Messiah, Savior, Son of God, Son of Man, Friend of Sinners, etc. Each one focuses on a particular aspect of who He is and what that means for us. In the book of Hebrews, Jesus is called a High Priest (Hebrews 2:17; 4:14). The word “priest” carries a couple of primary meanings. First, it means one who mediates in religious services. It also means one who is holy or set apart to perform those services.

The first place we find the word used in the Bible is in Genesis 14. Abraham, the friend of God, entered into battle to rescue his nephew Lot, who had been captured by the army of Elam. On his return, Abraham was met by Melchizedek, King of Salem and priest of the Most High God. This man, whose name means the “king of righteousness,” blessed Abraham and the Most High God who gave victory to Abraham. In return for this blessing, Abraham gave a tithe (10 percent) of all the spoils of war to Melchizedek. By this act, Abraham acknowledged Melchizedek’s high position as the priest of God.

Years later, Abraham's great-grandson Levi was singled out by God to be the father of the priestly tribe. When the Law was given on Mount Sinai, the Levites were identified as the servants of the Tabernacle, with the family of Aaron becoming the priests. The priests were responsible for making intercession to God for the people by offering the many sacrifices that the law required. Among the priests, one was selected as the High Priest, and he entered into the Most Holy Place once a year on the Day of Atonement to place the blood of the sacrifice on the Ark of the Covenant (Hebrews 9:7). By these daily and yearly sacrifices, the sins of the people were temporarily covered until the Messiah came to take away their sins.

When Jesus is called our High Priest, it is with reference to both of these previous priesthoods. Like Melchizedek, He is ordained as a priest apart from the Law given on Mount Sinai (Hebrews 5:6). Like the Levitical priests, Jesus offered a sacrifice to satisfy the Law of God when He offered Himself for our sins (Hebrews 7:26-27). Unlike the Levitical priests, who had to continually offer sacrifices, Jesus only had to offer His sacrifice once, gaining eternal redemption for all who come to God through Him (Hebrews 9:12).

One other important point about Jesus' priesthood—every priest is appointed from among men. Jesus, though God from eternity, became a man in order to suffer death and serve as our High Priest (Hebrews 2:9). As a man, He was subject to all the weaknesses and temptations that we are, so that He could personally relate to us in our struggles (Hebrews 4:15). Jesus is greater than any other priest, so He is called our “Great High Priest” in Hebrews 4:14, and that gives us the boldness to come “unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16 KJV).

The Life and Ministry of Marty Goetz. He Shares Such A Wonderful Testimony. Enjoy...♥

I was watching TBN this morning and at 12pm the show Christ in Prophecy hosted by Dr. David Reagan started and aired this testimony given by Marty Goetz. I was touched by his testimony of how he was led to Jesus (Yahshua) given with a little humor. I have typed a transcript below beginning at 15:52 minutes into this video I've shared with you:

Well I told you about my partner Burt and I didn't finish the story quite. We had this act that we, I don't know if you ever heard it. We used to work in a place called the Borscht Belt. Do you know what the Borscht Belt is? Do you know what Borscht is? It's a beat soup, it's very nice you put a little sour cream on it. (laughter) But it's a... it's the area in New York where a lot of the especially Jewish comics and singers got their start and some of them got their finish there. (laughter) You don't know when you go there which one you are. But Burt and I, I went to college in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania to a place called Carnegie Mellon after I left Cleveland, Ohio. There I met this fella Burt and he also did some work with a fella named Mr. Rogers. Have you ever heard of Mr. Rogers here? He did some work with Mr. Rogers because we met Mr. Rogers through a fella named Don Brockett who was Chef Brockett on Mr. Rogers. I don't know if you were watching when I was on, but I played Smokey Bear on Mr. Rogers once. Maybe you recognize me, I don't know. (laughter) But I was following Burt around because as I said he was a nice religious boy. But when he became born again, he became intolerable.

So what has been called the bummer in the Borscht Belt... which has become a bunch of hotels we used to play. We got all around there and played everywhere up there and we thought we were going to be together forever who knew. But when this happened, I just had to get away from him. Because he had friends that were talking to me about this... Jesus. I would just tell them, "I'm Jewish, I don't believe in Jesus. I really couldn't tell them why. But I knew I didn't. So his friends would followed me and I said this is ridiculous. So I broke up the act and I went and I played in piano bars. Like saloons and things like that. His friends would come in after church and they would sit in the piano bar. They'd listen to me play. They'd order one coke and five straws and have a great ole time. (laughter) And after I finish they'd all come up to me and say "We're praying for you. God has a perfect and wonderful plan for your life." I'd say yeah yeah yeah. And it got too much. So I said, I have to get away from these crazy people. I got to go somewhere where people are normal. People are not nuts like this. Mashugana is the word for it. A little crazy, it's a yiddish word. So I went as far away as I could get to a sane place... I moved to California. (laughter)

There one of Burt's friends had already moved out there. (laughter) One day she said would you like to go to the beach. I said that would be nice. She said there are some people gathered at the beach I'd like to take you there. So I went to the beach. Well I went there and it just happened to be a guy Hal Lindsey there preaching on the beach. (laughter) You've heard of him I could tell. He was preaching. He wrote a book called the late great planet earth. He was preaching on the beach. I listened to it. What I didn't tell anybody, I had been reading the Bible. It was one of those little tiny bibles, oh ye of little faith bibles that you can tuck in your pocket there. Because these people, even though I was very angry about what they were telling me. They did provoke me. They did get me thinking. And I thought I'm going to read this bible and I'm going to find out for myself. Well I had been reading about Jesus. I found out later he had a Hebrew name, Yeshua. His name actually means Salvation. Of course, we all heard of Jesus "Christ" because Mr. and Mrs. Christ had a little boy name Jesus. You remember that story. (laughter) But we found out that's His title. That's not His name at all. His name is Mashiach. His title is Mashiach, Messiah. I found this out later, but there on the beach I was just listening to all these people and I said this is very nice for them but I'm not going to believe it even if I believe this stuff I'm not going to believe it like they do cause I don't want to be these born again people so I'm going to sit here enjoy the music, enjoy the sunshine, enjoy the beach whatever.

But he brought up a guy in the end and this guy did something called communion. And when he took the bread for the communion he said, "Baruch Atah Adonai. Elohheinu melech ha olam. ha motzee lechem min ha-aretz." Blessed art thou oh Lord Our God, King of the Universe who brings forth bread from the earth. and I thought Oy! Which being interpreted is Oy! (laughter) Then he did the wine he said the words "Borei p'ree ha gafen" who creates the fruit of the vine. And I thought Oy vey! Which being interpreted is get me outta here, basically. (laughter)

And so after that was over, I was thoroughly confused. They took me to this place. This place called the Vinyard Christian Fellowship. And it had a fellow there named Ken Gulickson and he came from a place called Calvary Chapel which had a Rabbi name Chuck Smith. We used to say Huck Smith basically. (laughter) And he wasn't a Rabbi, he was a Pastor. But this fellow Ken he had rosy red cheeks, blonde hair, blue eyes Gulickson and I thought immediately I walked into this place where they took me and I thought, he's not Jewish. (laughter)

But he preached this message and I don't remember really even what he said to tell you the truth. But it was something stirred in my heart. Something got to my kishkes that means my guts. And all these things I had been reading about Jesus being the son of Abraham and a son of David, how He celebrated the Feast of Tabernacles and He celebrated Passover, Pesach. He actually was a better Jew than I was, that was the problem. So I thought, I can't reject Him on the basis of not being Jewish. So I listened to this message and at the end something moved upon me, I've come to learn now it was the Ruach ha-kodesh, the Holy Spirit. I found myself walking forward. They gave me a bible. I confessed I that was a sinner and they said congratulations, you're born again. To which I said, Oy double vey! Which being interpreted is I can never go home and tell my family about this. Well I eventually did and I told my family about it and some of the words you're going to hear in this next song are their response to what I said. And when I sing this song I hope no one will be offended by it or put off by it. It sounds like I might be making fun of my heritage but I'm not. I'm having fun with it. Because the truth is, my heritage I found out as a Jewish person is to bring the message of Yahshua. And I found out that being born again is a very Jewish thing to do. They actually called it being born from above or being born anew. So we're going to sing a little song here, you might recognize some of the rituals that we're talking about. And I hope you enjoy hearing it and I hope you enjoy the message we're trying to convey to you.

I had a Bar Mitzvah when I was thirteen
The greatest Bar Mitzvah that you’ve ever seen.
The temple on the corner of Mayfield and Lee
Was filled with my friends and my family
All of them proud as proud can be,
With catering far as the eye could see,
Complete with a chopped liver statue of me.

But now they ask me how I can go so wrong
And why all of a sudden I’m singing this song,
They say “Son you’re deserting your fathers of old,
So why don’t you just come back to the fold,
You’re such a nice boy or weren’t you told
That when you were born they broke the mold
So whaddya need with this stuff ya been sold?”

But it’s a far, far better thing that I do,
Than I have ever done, when I believed what they said was true
That Yeshua is God’s only son
Well I’ve done many things and I don’t do a few
But this one thing I do makes Me a Jew Born Anew,
Yes, through and through I’m a Jew Born Anew

So Hallelujah to Yeshua from a Jew who never knew ya,
Could come to die for a schmo like I was,
Just so I could win the prize
and be with my Messiah in the skies!

They say on Bar Mitzvah day I became a man,
I’ve tried to live that way, done the best that I can,

But I’ve been worried since way back when
‘Cause I’ve never done anything great since then,
And though I could live ‘til a hundred and ten
And never have need of a fountain pen,
I might never succeed in the sight of men,
And they won’t let me get Bar Mitzvahed again!

So Hallelujah to Yeshua from a Jew who never knew ya,
Could come to die for a real schlemiel
One who couldn't tell you were the long awaited,
Holy one of Israel!
