LET FREEDOM RING!

What does let freedom ring mean?

The expression is from last line of the first verse of Samuel Francis Smith's poem "My Country 'Tis of Thee" (also called "America, the Beautiful"). The song itself is about America's people singing in celebration of their country --both its physical features and all the freedoms it enjoys (as the "sweet land of liberty"). The poet imagines the song being heard everywhere ('from every mountainside'), and even nature itself joining in the song.

The third verse continues and extends the image, looking for all people, all creatures, even the very rocks to sing out:

Let music swell the breeze,

And ring from all the trees

Sweet freedom's song;

Let mortal tongues awake;

Let all that breathe partake;

Let rocks their silence break,

The sound prolong.

Thus "let freedom ring" is a wish and invitation to fellow citizens that the "song of freedom" might be sung out throughout the whole land. The 'singing of the song of freedom' includes not only extolling the (past) enjoyment of liberty in this land, but also making it more and more a reality.

Let Freedom Ring is also a U.S. phrase: A statement that the ideals of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness should be spread across the Earth and allowed to flourish.

People talk about being in "dark places" of discouragement, hopelessness, or impasse in their lives. It is not uncommon to read or hear the language of "dark places" for our children, our culture, or our world. In both ancient and modern literature, the metaphor of darkness for human error and its penalties is common.

Maybe that is why the person and nature of God are described as light. "God is light and in him there is no darkness at all" (1 John 1:5 NIV). One biblical writer even calls him "the Father of lights" and declares not only that there is no darkness in God or his actions but not even a "shadow" (James 1:17).

It should come as no surprise to anyone that the biblical narrative describes God's entry into flesh this way: Light has come to shine into all the world's dark places.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it (John 1:5).

"I am the light of the world," Jesus said. "Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life" (John 8:12).

In view of all this, who could possibly misunderstand the challenge Jesus gave his disciples in the Sermon on the Mount? Be lights in your world. Be like candles on a stand. Be shining cities on high hills. Be blessings to everyone.

But, some of us have missed his point and have done incredible harm in his name. The call to be lights in the world isn't a militaristic call. It isn't a challenge to form a political party or movement for lobbying political parties. People who have gone that route have given unbelievers cause to indict all Christians as unkind, judgmental, and merciless. They see a strident and angry activism that makes them reject Jesus on account of the ugly behaviors of people who profess to represent him.

Light tends to be gentle, appealing, and positive in its presence. It clarifies the landscape and makes life possible. Even if it makes us flinch and shield our eyes at first, God's light typically doesn't come with the blast of a nuclear bomb.

Think about it. Do you think the world needs more caustic critics or helping hands? More dark judgments and predictions or persons who model the light and blessing of God's presence? His encouragement? His grace?

The story is that there was a shortage of hard currency in the British Empire during Oliver Cromwell's reign. Government agents searched for a supply of silver to meet the need. "We have searched in vain for silver that can be minted into coin," began the report. "To our dismay, we have found none — except in our country's cathedrals where the statues of the saints are made of choice silver." "Then let's melt down the saints," Cromwell said, "and put them into circulation." In a world that needs light in its dark places, that's still a good idea.

I am posting this message for those of you who are unable to view and listen to the video and for all of my international readers who need to translate. This song always brings tears to my eyes reminding me of ALL God has done for me and what He's brought me through and where I am today. I'm still standing and with a HUGE smile on my face! I'm standing on a solid Rock that God has placed me on. This is my foundation now. I also know that I have goodness and mercy following me every where I go like having two body guards. But the BEST part is having God's LOVE LIVE in my spirit ALWAYS and is shining through me. I can't even begin to imagine my life now without feeling God's presence on a daily basis. I wouldn't want to know. Because once you have felt Him and you have heard Him nothing and no one compares. There is no way you would want to go back to living a 'normal' life.

That is why you must keeping moving forward. All you have to do is be perceptive to His guidance and follow through until He leads you to your DIVINE DESTINY! This requires you to TRUST and BELIEVE in Him, with ALL your HEART, ALL your MIND and ALL your SOUL. God will speak to your Spirit. God will nudge you. God will embrace you and love you unconditionally. Just know that God, your Heavenly Father is keeping you safe in the palm of His hand. That is how precious you are to Him. Yes YOU. I am re-posting this message for my new readers. This song by Celine Dion titled, 'Because You Loved Me' is very precious to me. It perfectly conveys my LOVE for God. I have dedicated this song to God, my Heavenly Father.

As I mentioned in my previous spiritual weekend post, I have my own personal relationship with God. However, I must add that it wasn't easy for me to reach this level of Nirvana. I was just as stubborn as the next person thinking I had everything under control. Well, guess what I discovered the HARD way, that the only thing I have absolute control over is MYSELF. Little ole me! It was about 7 years ago when my personal change occurred and I let go. The KEY word here is 'personal'. This was not a church or a cult thing. It was my own personal experience with my Creator. I can honestly say from true experience that I AM GRATEFUL for this transformation. I can be surrounded by chaos, people close to me can say evil things to my face to try to stir up old dramas or attempt to open up healed wounds and I still have inner peace. How can that be you ask? Because I've been Spiritually HEALED. That is the beauty of knowing God. When you get filled with the Holy Spirit, your past get's CLEANSED away and your spirit get's RENEWED. God does not want to condemn you and God is not some mysterious force outside of you. If God is energy and the source of all things and you are also energy, then that would mean that you are a part of Him, right? Connect to your SOURCE and choose LIFE!

You know after I had my experience, I had family members and friends try to get me to try this religion or that spiritual group etc. I would tell them that I have never belonged to any group why would I want to start now. Then they tried the alternative and tell me that my thinking was all wrong. I would tell them it's not a way of thinking. Geez! It's a way of BEING, living, breathing, walking in God's love, peace and LIGHT!

The point I'm trying to make from my friends and family experience is that the ONE thing I am absolutely secure in and that nobody can take away from me is God's love for me and my love for God. My experience is mine alone and nobody can ever ever change that...

YOU ARE The World...

I am re-posting this message for my new readers. This is a 6 1/2 minute mini documentary video clip of Jiddu Krishnamurti recorded in 1966. I want to introduce you to this man because his teachings are quite profound. He is one of many great teachers throughout history that help change human consciousness. Although, I do wish many of you would get past the religious zealots and open your heart and mind to Jesus (Yahshua). I can honestly guarantee that He is very real.

I'd like to explain why I am exposing you to many different teachings. You see my mom was raised Catholic and always felt like she was either going to heaven or hell no in between, no room for errors. So she decided NOT to baptize me as a child in the catholic faith. She decided to allow me to choose the spiritual path I wanted to follow when I felt I was ready. She figured Jesus didn't get baptized until he was 30 years old so it couldn't be a sin. My mom however did raise me with a strong foundation of love, values and principles. I am grateful to my mom for making this decision on my behalf even though it saddened my grandmother at the time. I am also extremely grateful to my mom for NOT raising me in a sheltered environment...

So in order to find myself I began my quest at an early age studying all religions, philosophy and quasi spiritual teachings. I have the utmost respect for them all. The funny thing is that they all teach you the same thing, perhaps in different ways. But the central theme or core if you will are love, respect, compassion and self awareness. I am happy to say that I have now grown into my own spiritual awareness and I do have my own personal relationship with God. However, my journey does not end there... the learning is infinite!

That in itself is what I hope to accomplish with this blog, helping others achieve a higher level of awareness, self discovery and love for oneself and all things. So with all this being said, allow your spiritual journey to begin now, not tomorrow, or the next day. Because today is all you have now and tomorrow is not guaranteed.

Michael is the kind of guy you love to hate. He is always in a good mood and always has something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, would reply, "If I were any better, I would be twins!"

He was a natural motivator. If an employee was having a bad day, Michael was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation.

Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up to Michael and asked him, "I don't get it! You can't be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?"

Michael replied, "Each morning I wake up and say to myself, you have two choices today.

You can choose to be in a good mood or you can choose to be in a bad mood. I choose to be in a good mood.

Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or I can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it.

Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or... I can point out the positive side of life, choose the positive side of life.

"Yeah, right, it's not that easy," I protested. "Yes, it is," Michael said. "Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice.

You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people affect your mood. You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood.

The bottom line: It's your choice how you live your life."

I reflected on what Michael said. Soon thereafter, I left the Tower Industry to start my own business. We lost touch, but I often thought about him when I made a choice about life instead of reacting to it.

Several years later, I heard that Michael was involved in a serious accident, falling some 60 feet from a communications tower! After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, Michael was released from the hospital with rods placed in his back.

I saw Michael about six months after the accident. When I asked him how he was, he replied. "If I were any better, I'd be twins. Wanna see my scars?" I declined to see his wounds, but I did ask him what had gone through his mind as the accident took place.

"The first thing that went through my mind was the well-being of my soon to be born daughter," Michael replied. "Then, as I lay on the ground, I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live or I could choose to die. I chose to live."

"Weren't you scared? Did you lose consciousness?" I asked.

Michael continued, "... the paramedics were great. They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the ER and I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, I read "he's a dead man. I knew I needed to take action."

"What did you do?" I asked.

"Well, there was a big burly nurse shouting questions at me," said Michael. "She asked if I was allergic to anything.

"Yes, I replied." The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply. I took a deep breath and yelled, "Gravity."

Over their laughter, I told them, "I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead."

Michael lived, thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude. I learned from him that every day we have the choice to live fully.

Attitude, after all, is everything.

"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." After all today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.

The seed cannot know what is going to happen, the seed has never known the flower. And the seed cannot even believe that he has the potentiality to become a beautiful flower. Long is the journey, and it is always safer not to go on that journey because unknown is the path, nothing is guaranteed.

Nothing can be guaranteed. Thousand and one are the hazards of the journey, many are the pitfalls - and the seed is secure, hidden inside a hard core. But the seed tries, it makes an effort; it drops the hard shell which is its security, it starts moving. Immediately the fight starts: the struggle with the soil, with the stones, with the rocks. And the seed was very hard and the sprout will be very, very soft and dangers will be many.

There was no danger for the seed, the seed could have survived for millennia, but for the sprout many are the dangers. But the sprout starts towards the unknown, towards the sun, towards the source of light, not knowing where, not knowing why. Great is the cross to be carried, but a dream possesses the seed and the seed moves.

The same is the path for man. It is arduous. Much courage will be needed.

Fear, hate, and discrimination are forms of oppression and bondage. These emotions are what limit our evolution as human beings. They are forms of very low frequency. Meaning negative energy. These emotions subtract from your growth potential.

Our behavior is domesticated and our thinking is conditioned from birth. The authority figures I speak of and who influence us throughout our lifetimes are our parents, family, friends, teachers, community and government. All with the intent to maintain a standard. But who set the standard and which one is correct? Do we dare question the status quo?

Why don't you start first by talking directly to God. There is NO formal way for you to talk to Him. Just talk to Him in private just as you would another person. Trust me, you will start getting ALL of the answers you seek. Then God will reveal to you His standard and NOT the standards that have been set forth by MAN!

There have been several teachers throughout the history of man sent from up above to guide us to re-discover our Higher Self. However, it IS our responsibility to make that effort and re-connect 'WAKE UP' to the Source of our Being, our Existence. God = LOVE, Truth and Light

You have to wonder why HISTORY keeps repeating itself ?!?! People in positions of power will always use our weaknesses and our fears to manipulate, control and destroy the fabric of our Being! We keep looking to authority figures for answers, still unaware that the answers we seek, the TRUTH, lay dormant within ourselves.

CHOOSE to be happy and find peace in the midst of the storm no matter what. You'll be able to tell the difference between a dream and a message. Because you'll remember every detail, it feels real and you never forget it. It's kind of like the experience people who have near death experience (NDE) have, only you do not die! God will also speak directly to your spirit. But you have to be receptive and be able to discern His spirit.

We were the only family with children in the restaurant. I sat Erik in a high chair and noticed everyone was quietly sitting and talking. Suddenly, Erik squealed with glee and said, 'Hi.' He pounded his fat baby hands on the high chair tray. His eyes were crinkled in laughter and his mouth was bared in a toothless grin, as he wriggled and giggled with merriment. I looked around and saw the source of his merriment. It was a man whose pants were baggy with a zipper at half-mast and his toes poked out of would-be shoes. His shirt was dirty and his hair was uncombed and unwashed. His whiskers were too short to be called a beard and his nose was so varicose it looked like a road map. We were too far from him to smell, but I was sure he smelled.

His hands waved and flapped on loose wrists. 'Hi there, baby; hi there, big boy. I see ya, buster,' the man said to Erik. My husband and I exchanged looks, 'What do we do?' Erik continued to laugh and answer, 'Hi.' Everyone in the restaurant noticed and looked at us and then at the man. The old geezer was creating a nuisance with my beautiful baby. Our meal came and the man began shouting from across the room, 'Do ya patty cake? Do you know peek-a-boo? Hey, look, he knows peek- a-boo.' Nobody thought the old man was cute. He was obviously drunk. My husband and I were embarrassed. We ate in silence; all except for Erik, who was running through his repertoire for the admiring skid-row bum, who in turn, reciprocated with his cute comments.

We finally got through the meal and headed for the door. My husband went to pay the check and told me to meet him in the parking lot. The old man sat poised between me and the door. Lord, just let me out of here before he speaks to me or Erik,' I prayed. As I drew closer to the man, I turned my back trying to sidestep him and avoid any air he might be breathing. As I did, Erik leaned over my arm, reaching with both arms in a baby's 'pick-me-up' position. Before I could stop him, Erik had propelled himself from my arms to the man. Suddenly a very old smelly man and a very young baby consummated their love and kinship.

Erik in an act of total trust, love, and submission laid his tiny head upon the man's ragged shoulder. The man's eyes closed, and I saw tears hover beneath his lashes. His aged hands full of grime, pain, and hard labor, cradled my baby's bottom and stroked his back. No two beings have ever loved so deeply for so short a time. I stood awestruck. The old man rocked and cradled Erik in his arms and his eyes opened and set squarely on mine. He said in a firm commanding voice, You take care of this baby.' Somehow I managed, 'I will,' from a throat that contained a stone. He pried Erik from his chest, lovingly and longingly, as though he were in pain. I received my baby, and the man said, 'God bless you, ma'am, you've given me my Christmas gift.' I said nothing more than a muttered thanks.

With Erik in my arms, I ran for the car. My husband was wondering why I was crying and holding Erik so tightly, and why I was saying, 'My God, my God, forgive me.' I had just witnessed Christ's love shown through the innocence of a tiny child who saw no sin, who made no judgment; a child who saw a soul, and a mother who saw a suit of clothes. I was a Christian who was blind, holding a child who was not. I felt it was God asking, 'Are you willing to share your son for a moment?' when he shared His for all eternity.

The ragged old man, unwittingly, had reminded me, To enter the Kingdom of God , we must become as little children.' If this has blessed you, please bless others by sending it on. Sometimes, it takes a child to remind us of what is really important. Remember who we are, where we came from and, most importantly, how we feel about others. The clothes on our back or the car that we drive or the house that we live in does not define us at all; it is how you treat your fellow man that identifies who you are.

Lord help me to treat everyday as Christmas, Amen!!!
